BETTER BELLY BUSS, THAN GOOD FOOD WAS’E

(A saying of ole by a wise old sage???)

Don’t throw the remains of good food,
Don’t even store it away.
Not when it tastes so very good;
It won’t last another day.
Even if you’re filled to the brim,
Be sure to make some space.
“Better belly buss, than good food was’e”;

He Taught Me...(an original poem from a book of Inspiration that I published in 2016)

"Oh God, you have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare your wondrous works.” (Ps 71:17)

He taught me WHO
He was, is and will continue to be.

He taught me WHAT
was truly important – His Will, His Purpose, my obedience.

He taught me WHERE
to look when I couldn’t find my way out the maze, or was blinded by the haze that surrounded me.

He taught me WHEN
It was okay to stop and stare at the clouds for a while, to inhale His Greatness and exhale His praises.

He taught me HOW
to smile when I felt like crying, cussing, yelling or giving up, to believe His Word, and to really trust His Love for me.

He taught me WHY
I need to face life’s challenges with optimism, regardless of how daunting they may appear.

And...
He’s still teaching me.

Here…

I haven’t been here long,
But it feels like it.
Can’t tell if I’m wrong,
But it seems like it.
I need to be strong,
Yes, my will heeds it.
With a prayer and a song,
I may come through it:
Not sure I belong, here…
Too early to quit.

JESUS...my rainbow (an original poem from a book of Inspiration that I published in 2016)

“I set my rainbow in the cloud…” (Genesis 9:13)
“…; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.” (Revelations 4:3)

When the storms of life are beating upon the frail fabric of my mind
I long for peace and rest.
My soul looks above the clouds unto the veil behind, hoping for a sign of His Presence because He alone knows how to calm the storms.
He alone knows my story.
He alone feels my pain.
He alone cares for me and can ease the strain of the burdens that I carry.
He alone can take away my sorrow,
And promise me a bright tomorrow.

HE IS JESUS… MY RAINBOW

Be careful of what you ask for...

God’s Wisdom is like nothing else that man has ever known and certainly His Brilliance, for us has set the tone.
Great is my angst and wonderment when after prayer
I wait, to see what my dear God decides should truly be my fate.

My God knows how to make a joke, and enjoys every bit
Of humour that He gets when He makes use of His great wit.
I asked for patience and I hoped that all would soon be well,
But lo! The challenges God sent made me feel I’d gone to hell.

Should I not know the tests He gives are how He answers prayer,
Yet how could I learn patience well, if not by trial and error?
I asked the Lord to bless me with more work to earn more pay.
For I had many things to buy, and to pay for everyday;
And once again He sent my way a chore to undertake –
The bounty that He blessed me with was not for my own sake.
For He wanted me to know that when He blesses me with same
It’s for me to share with others, and to glorify His name.

So when you pray and ask the Lord be careful what it’s for;
Don’t think He hasn’t heard your call, if troubles you endure.
And you wonder what He’s doing, when you’re faced with more distress -
Just be careful what you ask for, ‘cause there just might be a test.

What is Man? (an original poem from a book of Inspiration that I published in 2016)

What is MAN?
The image and likeness of God,
A servant of Jesus the Lord,
The evidence of His word.

What is Man?
Nothing but ashes and dust,
Nothing but malice and lust,
Nothing that any should trust.

What is MAN?
Nothing but woeful and vain,
Nothing is he, but inane,
Nothing does he, but complain.

What is MAN?
Nothing of value from birth,
Nothing of any great worth,
Nothing but scourge of the earth.

What is MAN?
Nothing but lost and alone,
Nothing for sin, can atone,
Nothing but dead in his own
Sin.

What is MAN?
NOTHING.
Nothing at all, without Jesus.

If ever… (written in 2016, revised in 2022)

If ever you make it to Heaven one day,
Please stop and take a while
To look for my kin as you go on your way;
You’ll meet him with a smile.
Tell him how truly sorry I am
That no one was there by his side
But I know now that God may have planned it that way,
On the fateful morning he died.

If ever you make it to Heaven one day,
And find that you’re lonesome or bored,
Just look for my brother, he’ll show you the way;
‘Cause he’s right there with the Lord.
You’ll find that he’s happy and free from all care;
- There’ll be a grin on his face -
Everything’s better, there’s nothing to fear
Now that he’s gone from this place.

If ever I make it to Heaven at all,
What a great blessing that’ll be!
But greater still will be my joy,
When my loving brother I see.
He knows how to make me feel welcome and glad;
- He’s just a person like that –
So I’ll try my best to be good, though I’m sad,
Until it’s my turn to depart.

NOSTALGIA

It saddens me, yes saddens…when I think back in my life
To the times when things were tough, yet there was still
Such joy…such hope…such happy thoughts.
We were a family then…caring, sharing, laughing, dancing, singing, playing, living
From day to day…in the moment…together.
But, as time passed by and our life’s direction changed, so did the separations
Become. Nothing obvious at first, creeping into our midst slowly and invisibly separating
Us, from each other, from being that ‘family’.

Nostalgia brings pain to my heart and tears to my eyes…so I try hard
To avoid her. Almost as soon as I smile when I hear a song, look at a picture, See an old acquaintance, the happiness leaves…Do I wish for the tough times again?
No, but for the joy of caring, sharing, laughing, dancing, singing, playing, living
From day to day…in the moment…together. Again.

I Like the Rain (an original poem from a book of Inspiration that I published in 2016)

It is written that the Lord sends the rain to fall on the ‘just’ and the ‘unjust’. But I like the rain, regardless.
I like the rain because
it cools the earth and makes the world seem clean
again; If
only for
a brief moment.
I like the rain because
It reminds me of the tears
that I shed when the pains of life
overwhelm me, and the joy of the Lord becomes my remedy. I like the rain because there is always a beautiful, brightly-coloured rainbow in its wake that lights up the sky,
and makes me smile with awe. I like the rain because It signals that whether I’m ‘just’ or ‘unjust’,
God still cares for me, provides for me,
loves me,
and needs me
to do His Will.
Thank God for the rain.

INFIDELITY…Tell me lies

Tell me I’m the soulmate that you’ve searched for all your life;
Tell me I’m the woman that you’re proud you made your wife.
Tell me that no one else could ever take my place;
Tell me all these lies, as you look me in the face.

Tell me that she’s “no one” and “nothing happened” too;
Tell me that she’s the one whose chasing after you.
Tell me that you told her that you’d never leave your wife.
Tell me lies that maul my soul and cleave it with a knife.

Tell me, tell me why you came into my life at all.
Tell me how the man I love(d) could have so great a fall.

Tell me lies......

W-A-R………..

A 3-letter word of d-o-o-m;
Rife with sounds like “b-o-o-m!”
Kills what comes from the w-o-m-b;
Ends with a hole, or a t-o-m-b.

Why then, especially in this century with all of its changes, is W-A-R still being tolerated?

A SIMPLE LOVE LETTER

“He who does not love does not know God,
for God is love” (1Jn 4:8).
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
....For I am persuaded that neither death nor life..., shall
be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus
our Lord” (Rom 8:35-39).

Dear God,

You are my God and Father and I love you because you first, and always have, loved me.
I am not even sure that what I ‘feel’ for you is truly “LOVE”
(the way that love is supposed to be),
but I know that
YOU are LOVE
and all things good. It is because you love me
that you are kind, gracious, merciful, longsuffering and forgiving towards me.
There is no other like you.
You created me, sent Jesus to die for me, and gave me your Holy Spirit to live inside of me.
There is no doubt in my mind (even when you chastise me for my foolish ways), there is no doubt that
YOU LOVE ME.

Thank you Father.
