Don't Eat The Stew !!

Don’t Eat The Stew !!

It doesn’t seem ten years ago I nearly left this life.
I’d just come home from work that day and was
confronted by my wife.
“I don’t love you anymore, I’m leaving you” she said.
I just stood there with open mouth while those words
echoed round my head.

We’d been together man and wife for thirty years or more.
And now it was all over as she walked out through the door.
What could I do, I panicked as my tears began to flow.
Should I go chasing after her no point she wants to go.

So down I sat with head in hands confused, what had I done.
She seemed ok this morning when off to work I’d gone.
Now I’m all alone again whatever shall I do?
I nearly packed it in that day if it wasn’t for the stew.

You see she’d gone and made me one just the night before.
But then I started thinking and dropped it on the floor.
She’s gone and left me hasn’t she I’m not the fool you think.
Eat this stew you’re joking ’cos what’s in it didn’t half stink.

I’d looked around and realised she’d took the dog as well.
Then I knew what was in that stew that gave a nasty smell.
It was the opened tin of dog food she hadn’t thrown away.
Thank god I didn’t eat it or I wouldn’t be here today.

The moral of this story though true I fib you not.
Is when your world’s turned upside down and a stew is all you’ve got.
Make sure whoever made it isn’t friendly with my X wife.
Neither cat nor dog they own make sure for this could save your life.

Love will last Forever.

If for you, my love should die would not Angels cry in heaven.
Sweet songs of birds be heard no more when sun heralds the dawn.
The waves would cease the shore to kiss with every tides embrace.
And flowers in bloom bow down their heads as if in sadness mourn.

The wind once mighty oaks did bend now but a whisper sighs.
Storm clouds drained of fury weep that raged on earth subsides.
Rivers fail the sea to greet ice and snows refuse to thaw.
Nature’s purpose in time suspended while all creation cries.

Could I then for you, my love deny and hasten forth such sorrow.
Then would surely I this universe reject and to dust return once more.
Fear not true heart for death shall conquer not this mortal soul.
Entwined our many lives to come for all eternity shall endure.

A Journey of Faith.

Life is just a journey with many twists and turns.
There are rivers to ford and mountains to climb.
Nothing is written nor script to follow.
You start life with nothing what you leave with you earn.

From the moment you’re born to the day that you die.
Many choices are offered some good and some bad.
If you follow your instincts you’ll do what is right.
Never trust in the doubters for they’ll only lie.

What God you believe in you alone must decide.
If Creation and nature you feel has a purpose.
Accept that it’s true in your heart you will know.
For it’s there your Creator will surely abide.

He’ll guide you I know through life’s stormy seas
When you fall He’ll be there to pick you right up.
For comfort and hope in your darkest of hours.
Just call on him quietly down on your knees.

So when you’re facing that beckoning light.
You’ll reflect on your life and all you have done.
If you have no regrets then you’ll have nothing to fear.
For He’ll never forsake you, you know that I’m right.

Of Birth, life, love and...........?

Life restless stirs within the womb a sanctuary of endless night.
This seed from love impatient for release yet waits unborn.
The mysteries this world are still unknown a journey to fulfil.
Not till embracing waters yield and cast towards the light.

With pain and joy unscathed emerges life begins anew.
Upon the breast is laid contentment overshadows fear.
Forgotten now the silent darkness fades, that did once so entomb.
With lips atremble suckles that flesh from whence he grew.

In summer meadows bathed with nature’s glory plays.
Childhood memories etched forever in young minds.
Friendships kindled as flames ignite youth’s eagerness.
Enriched knowledge gathered eagerly with fleeting days.

As childhood into manhood grows deep unknown yearnings beckon.
Love as yet its shameless thrill to be rewarded brings forth the man.
Enticed by sensuous pleasures emotions awake the heart takes flight.
With waves of ecstasy unleashed once a child all innocence now gone.

The year’s sweet memories fast leave behind as darkness calls again.
Towards the light now beckoning pause footsteps fear enhanced.
Unsure one’s life in vain had not this consciousness still hesitates.
Then enters he with faith enriched where creation’s sculptor reigns.

She's my best friend and I love her.

To see us walking side by side down country lanes or city streets.
You would feel the love between us both you’d see it in our eyes.
I’d smile a knowing smile at you as you glanced when passing by.
And she would then look back at you as she does with all she meets.

We walk past all the folk we know I say hello she nods her head.
Sometimes we stop and chat a while I chat she just stands there.
But all the time she’s looking round for someone she may know.
Until I’ve finished chatting she’ll be listening to me instead.

Then off we go along our way until it’s time to venture home.
We’re both worn out and tired now it’s been a long old walk.
Past the village grocer’s shop the old school then the farm.
Home at last she rushes past exhausted but still grabs her bone.

If only.

If only dreams would all come true.
Instead of here I’d be there with you.
To hold you near the whole day through.
And keep you safe the night time too.

If only you were not so far away.
Entwined in your arms I would stay.
But here all alone in my bed I lay.
Wishing that tomorrow could be today.

If only these days would quickly pass by.
You would be here and no more would I cry.
But if dreams come true then I’ll know why.
We’ll soon be together just you and I.

A Wave of Tears.

We stare in silent disbelief.
With surrendered emotions we weep.
For once again Mother Nature stirred.
And a wave of tears rose from her oceans deep.
Washing away generations, young and old.
Whole families swept away.
Out to sea from whence they came.
Took that wave of tears on that fateful day.
Why has He forsaken us? We do not understand.
To unite us all maybe an answer!!
All religions, colours walk now hand in hand.
Forget our differences, suspicions and hates
Resolve all our worries and fears.
Let us never forget the day our lives changed
Changed by that wave of tears.

For all Elvis fans. #1

The Tupelo Teddy Bear.

Are you Lonesome tonight without True Love?
Is your Wooden Heart heavy with care?
Then just for Ol’ Times Sake, please read my story,
of the Tupelo Teddy Bear;
Many stories are told, each in Separate Ways.
Now in My Way it’s told through his songs.
It Feels So Right that I tell it this way,
for then in My Way I can right all the wrongs.

The Cotton Candy Land of the American South,
is from where the Teddy Bear came.
Way down in Memphis Tennessee.
It’s where Heartbreak Hotel came to fame;
Good Rockin’ Tonight it was all the rage.
And the Party was starting to swing.
And miss Polk Salad Annie, she was telling the world,
“This Teddy Bear, he sure knows the way how to sing”.

Now Colonel Parker, who was a Big Boss Man,
heard the Teddy Bear sing for his Ma.
Then he took him aside, with his Young Dreams and pride,
and said ”My Boy, I want to make you a star”.
The Poor Boy said, “Shake A Hand on that
but I Beg Of You, please, Treat Me Nice.
For soon I’ll be King Of The Whole Wide World,
then Fame And Fortune will demand a price”.

And true to his Words did he Follow That Dream.
‘Cause From A Jack To A King he rose.
Along the way doing GI Blues,
as a Soldier Boy Uncle Sam chose;
But then Trouble for the first time marred his dream,
when in his own Words he said,
“I Slipped, I Stumbled, I Fell like a baby,
when I heard That’s Alright (Mama) was dead”.

But with one Burning Love gently going out,
another had Come along in his life.
And to the Young And Beautiful Priscilla Beaulieu,
he said “How Would You Like To Be my wife”?
“Love Me Tender” was her sweet reply.
“Then All That I Am I’ll give free”.
And true to her Words she bore him a child,
a Baby named Lisa Marie.

But too soon Summer Kisses turned to Winter Tears,
for their marriage So High had gone low.
And then to his surprise she said “I Don’t Wanna Be Tied,
you Stop Where You Are, I’ll go;
He cried “Without Love (There Is Nothing).
You’re A Heartbreaker who’s so unkind.
Yet though you’re leaving me Indescribably Blue,
you’re still Gentle On My Mind”.

to be continued in a bit

Day to Night.

Finger like clouds grasp the setting sun drawing her beneath the horizon.
She struggles with fiery ribbons of colour, alas succumbs to the darkness.
Another day grown weary of her brightness waits the enveloping night.
The hastening shadows creeping unawares steals her glow the day is done.

New moon ascending on heaven’s quilt showered with sparkling gems.
Innocent of guilt whence replacing the sun shines down with dimming light.
The earth now in silhouette reveals her hidden beauty unseen by light of day.
Ghostly forms arranged in shades of grey disguises reality as night time ends.

For all Elvis fans #2

Now we friends had believed in a dream Never Ending,
and It’s A Sin that we thought this to be.
For nothing is Today, Tomorrow And Forever.
Even a U.S. Male such as he;
Slowly But Surely the dream grew dim,
And A Little Less Conversation was vent.
‘Til the death of the ‘Bear’ Paralysed us all.
The Flaming Star it was spent.

One Night in answer to a fervent prayer,
I Believe an Angel of mercy did I see.
The ‘Bear’ full of Trouble, Crying In The Chapel,
and said “come, Return To Sender with me”;
Now Don’t Ask Me Why or Tell Me Why,
for I Just Can’t Help Believing.
How The Web Was Woven on Such A Night,
never to hear him say “I’m Leavin”.

So the Guitar Man in Blue Suede Shoes,
who was Raised On Rock ’n Roll.
Was raised to the place of Amazing Grace,
where it’s said they Don’t Be Cruel to no soul.
In the Early Morning Rain the world stood crying,
All Shook Up by the grief that it bore.
And friends cried “Lord You Gave Us A Mountain To Climb,
now the Teddy Bears’ not among us no more.

Now since the death of the ‘Bear’, bad Suspicious Minds,
have said (he was the) Devil In Disguise.
A drug crazy Hound-Dog who was raised In The Ghetto.
Rest easy King Creole, they’re lies;
For there’s Too Much, Peace In The Valley,
now that The Wonder Of You is not king.
And with only your Memories, I feel So Bad,
now That’s When Your Heartaches Begin.

For A Fool Such As I who was Stuck On You.
And who’d Still Gotta Lotta Livin’ To Do.
Now has One Broken Heart For Sale,
‘cause Way Down it’s A Mess Of Blues;
But I Believe In The Man In The Sky,
and though It Hurts Me not to hear your refrain.
If I can Dream ‘til my life I Surrender,
It’s No Secret we shall meet once again.

A little 'ditty'.

They grow on trees and under the ground.
Some are big and some are round.
I really love them but I can’t eat them.
I’m a bit like them some would say.
You have a guess, go on what are they?

It has to be.

Along the hallways of my mind, many strewn with discarded thoughts.
Concealed behind closed doors redundant memories linger still.
Old age brings forth clouds of confusion that separates from reality.
As I struggle for reasons sake in its place brings turmoil and doubts.

Travelling many corridors they all with unconscious secrets to unfold.
Has time her bitter hand of fate deprived me now of those hidden joys.
Or will I feel before the end the promise this lonely heart has yearned?
For she who waits beyond the void appears to me in dreams untold.

I cannot bear this ache inside the waiting now begins its final challenge.
Will this everlasting love be reconciled that ever was written in the stars?
Can two souls be as one regardless of that which denies loves fulfilment?
To believe that what is meant to be will these hearts that bind arrange.
