Christmas in the tropics

Hah...You're wrong. I'm not going to complain about the heat.

Cause I like it.

No, I'm going to complain about my Christmas present. My bad.

My friend got me a lovely new smart phone for Christmas.

Well, I think I'm too stupid to own a smart phone.

It's faster than my desk top computer.

It's the latest, fastest, smartest, cutest little thing you ever saw.

I'm afraid of it.

I know it's watching me.

It tells people where I am.

It remembers what I like and who I talked to.

It makes suggestions.

I don't know where to hide..............

Done it again

Well, I guess that this just proves once again that I'm none too bright.

I know. A lot of you on here have already suspected that to be the case.

I wasn't going to say anything about this to anyone because I should know better
by now.

My father used to say, 'too soon old, and too late smart' But I never listened.

Here's the story;

I sent an e-mail to a lady with a new profile a few days ago. (Why not?)
She actually answered me within an hour. (So far, so good!)
This lead to a flurry of back and forth of about 60 e-mails. (Potential!)
She was in the right age group. She was in my preferred size, shape and culture. (Happy happy)
Idiot boy Vikingson was starting to get some feelings back in an old cold heart. (Stupid)
This morning, her profile disappeared. (Damn)

I really don't know what to think. I don't know if she's real and I scared her off, or if she's a fraud and got caught before she closed the web........

If she's real, and if she's timid, and if she sneaks back on here and reads this, I hope she writes to me.

Trump Time

I think that it's high time for people to understand that Donald Trump has won the American presidency. PEOTUS Trump won in the contest as presented with the popular vote being irrelevant and having no political force. It is time to come together, forge alliances and move into the future as it is presented. Division will only cause more anger, frustration and stagnation. It also raises the distinct possibility of an enemy finding a softer target for any number of problems. So, people, put it away and get busy. There's a lot to be done.

Happy Day

Well yesterday was my 11th anniversary of living in Mexico. WOW.

And you know what?

I forgot to celebrate.!.!.!

But maybe that's an OK thing, cause I was just too busy doing other stuff. Let me tell you about it......

My really great Mexican friend Jorge came out to the castle with his son Lester (what the heck kind of Mexican name is Lester anyway?) to work on a project for school. Well that's totally cool with me, so out to my wood shop we go.

Well Lester has his plan and his material that they bought in town and Jorge always has 3 ideas to make it better, that NEVER work out as re-planned. And I just can't keep my mouth shut, so I put in my 2 cent's worth along the way.

Upshot of it all;

Lester's the happiest teen you could imagine.

Jorge kept all of his fingers.

I kept my patience.

The project got made with 12 copies for classmates.

We filmed it all.

I wasn't lonely for 4 or 5 hours.

Lester says he's so lucky to have his crazy Canadian engineer/carpenter uncle.

And my poor old long suffering dog is mad at me because we ate dinner at 9 at night. Tough I say, school comes first.

Confused

I have discovered a small defect in this site.

A lady has 'liked' me.

That sounds good....no?

Well, I tried to write to her, but apparently the site won't let me.

Even though she has looked over my profile, and posted a 'like' the site will not let me respond.

I can only hope that she is not too shy to message me.........

Because I 'liked' her too......

November 11

Yet another Veteran's Day, as it's known in the US of A, or Remembrance Day as it's revered in Canada, has arrived.
Originally the day was designed to celebrate and remember the fallen soldiers of the first world war. Later it became inclusive of the fallen from all wars, and today venerates all who fought or were involved in conflict for their countries en toto.
However, please understand something very important.
Some of us, perhaps many of us, do not wish to remember.
Some of us spend our lives trying to forget.

An overly experienced soldier told me many years ago, over a coffee in the mess, to wipe that grin off my face. He said you can go to war, but you can't ever go home.
I thought that he was pretty negative, because surely most came home. I saw and knew many who had come home over the years.
When I came home, I found out what he really meant.
Home was different, or perhaps, I had changed.
I could not forget what I had seen or the things that I had done.
We all react differently.
Some of us live under bridges.
Some of us drink ourselves to death.
Some of us take drugs to stop the pain.
Some of us dig in and try to do anything that we can do to fix the problems and pay back the debt that we feel that we've incurred by our actions.

Can we please end this madness?

May I come home now?:

It is dark tonight

I just came back inside after a nice quiet stroll in the courtyard of my castle.

The moon has not come up yet, but there are so many stars shining in the heavens that it casts an eerie glow to the battlements and the banana trees. Quite haunting really, because everything else is black.

It ts cooling off at night very nicely now as fall approaches and the summer heat eases up for another year.

Living in the countryside means that there is no other light to corrupt my view of the stars at night. No street lights, very little traffic and no houses to be seen.

It is quiet and serene. The only sounds, other than all the racket that I make, is the occasional dog in the distance hoping to find a friend, or maybe a cow startled by something letting out a few solitary bellows.......

Later tonight, when the moon rises, all of my gardens, patios and the faces of the other structures in the castle will miraculously reappear in the silvery light.

That is when I will wander off to my bed for the night. Two minutes later, my old dog will follow and plunk down at the foot of my bed for the night. He won't come right away because he doesn't want me to notice him. He still remembers when he was young and on guard duty.

Actually, I remember when I was young, and on guard duty as well.....

Rights

I'm getting very tired of hearing about all of these different rights that people seem to think that they have.

I don't think that we have any rights at all. At the very best, we have a limited group of temporary privileges that can be revoked for any number of reasons.

I will be very interested in hearing from anyone that can show me an example of an inalienable right. A right about anything that can not be revoked, refused or otherwise taken away.

I think that we used to have some pretty strong privileges that approached being rights, but that was a long time ago.

Oh, and don't feel obligated to restrict your opinions to only America.

I give you the privilege to be multi national or even global.

Ready, set, go for it...................

Had enough

Well, I think that I have had about enough.

I'm thinking seriously about cancelling my account here.

Too many people have too great an expectation and too little patience to get to know anybody.

People don't respond.

People leave you hanging.

What ever happened to face to face manners......I guess they died when face to face talking and inter-reacting stopped.

Oh well......

Tell me what you think. OK?

The Rapture

For the last couple of years, the internet has become more and more obsessed with the end times and Judgement Day, as well as any other disaster that you could have ever imagined.
It certainly looks like many of the prophesies of the Bible are coming true as we watch, and the prophesies of several different aboriginal peoples are likewise looking pretty accurate as well.
The Bible tells us that before the Judgement there will be The Rapture. That is when the 'believers' will be taken away and saved from all of the horrors of the end days and the final Judgement.
Well, I've decided that if this is all true, and if I am one of the chosen to be saved in The Rapture, I must humbly refuse.
I wish to stay here and do what I can for the one's that are left behind. I think that it is where I will be needed.
Anybody care to join me?

Communicating

One of the ancient Maya prophecies foretold of a time when the people would have the ability to talk to each other any at time that they wished at any distance that they found themselves at. They believed that there would be nothing that could interfere with their inter-reactions and their ability to communicate.

But the prophesy warned that with the ability would come a dire reaction.

For some unexplained reason, the people would stop listening.

Is that not where we find ourselves now?

With so many ways to talk to people, we seem to hear and understand less...........
