It is dark tonight

I just came back inside after a nice quiet stroll in the courtyard of my castle.

The moon has not come up yet, but there are so many stars shining in the heavens that it casts an eerie glow to the battlements and the banana trees. Quite haunting really, because everything else is black.

It ts cooling off at night very nicely now as fall approaches and the summer heat eases up for another year.

Living in the countryside means that there is no other light to corrupt my view of the stars at night. No street lights, very little traffic and no houses to be seen.

It is quiet and serene. The only sounds, other than all the racket that I make, is the occasional dog in the distance hoping to find a friend, or maybe a cow startled by something letting out a few solitary bellows.......

Later tonight, when the moon rises, all of my gardens, patios and the faces of the other structures in the castle will miraculously reappear in the silvery light.

That is when I will wander off to my bed for the night. Two minutes later, my old dog will follow and plunk down at the foot of my bed for the night. He won't come right away because he doesn't want me to notice him. He still remembers when he was young and on guard duty.

Actually, I remember when I was young, and on guard duty as well.....

All sounds lovely, but you see when younger you would not have appreciated the silent beautiful night. aaahhhhhhh teddybear
The only advantage I see to living out the country is the lack of light pollution.

I would hate the utter silence hole
I remember my early morning trips to the barn to feed the horse, especially when there was a full moon. That moon was so big and hanging right over the mountains. I didn't need a flash light. It was absolutely beautiful and a good start to my mornings. I used to go out at night and just sit on the porch and look at it. I could see all the planes in the sky.

It's beautiful where I live at now. The moon just hangs over a different set of mountains. I love the peace and quiet, the stillness of the night. I love living in the country.
Sounds idyllic beer
You wrote so beautifully daydream
Good morning Redex. Actually you are wrong. I have always loved silence. As a child I would go 15 and 20 miles into the wilderness alone with my dog just to escape the city and the noise.....but that's me.
Hi Molly, It is never totally silent. There is always the breeze rustling through the trees and various animals and insects making their presence known....and of course the steady hum of my fan....
Shine, I'm with you 110% girl....
Non, it's what I fought for, what I wanted, what I needed, and you're right.
Viking, if I had a hot man there with me I wouldn't be complaining at all wink

grin
Innocentia, thank you so much for your kind words. I don't hear nearly enough of them in this life.smitten
Molly, some say I'm hot, some say I'm not.

Some call me an angel, and some say I am the Devil.

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

peace
Prefer that kind of life as well. Unfortunately here I don't always have that as people are not living far enough from me.
Oh, you are welcome, dear Vikingson. When I read your words I wished I could make a tiny little book of them so that I can keep them as if I had a peaceful little place with me always.

One day I want to live in the countryside and have my horse with me. I would sit every evening in the dark on a bale of straw and listen to the sounds that she makes when she is eating hay smile
Innocentia, if you ever like to talk horses and tranquil evenings, you will have to message me, because you have Central America blocked, and that's where I live....
And I love your thought to put my words in a little book.......it sounds so romantic.

heart wings
Niceeeeee bouquet wave
