FISH AND CHIPS

I'm not an expert on this subject but I thought I'd treat myself at the half way point when walking my dog.

The bill looked somewhat higher than I'd seen on the menu.

The Barman had asked me if I'd prefer small chips or chunky chips and I'd said the latter.

He explained that they charge more for chunky chips because they're healthier and use less fat. I argued, 'Surely they should be cheaper if they use less fat!' doh

Next time I'll catch my own. Well the fish anyway. The chips I can live without. rolling on the floor laughing

ENGLAND - all is forgiven, i'm coming home!!! The Swiss have no idea! The majority would probably turn there noses up to a greasy portion of Fish and Chips in an old newspaper!!dunno angel2 angel, bring my order please....
I for one have never eaten fish and chips, it is not common in Norway. So can't tell if it is good or not. BUT not a fish lover, so I guess I will do good without it.wink yay teddybear hug

Wallops: Bournemouth mostly, spent some years living and working in London..hug

Ok, did I smell something fishy here?!?!? grin
MMmmmmmm fish and chips, how delightful, particurlarly in some of our english coastal towns, was on the east coast a few week ago and had fish and chips on the harbour, absolutely delicious, loads of salt and vinegar, mushy peas and a breadcake...yum yum indeed...The few pints of polite cider went down well afterwards also..conversing crying bouquet
I'm not sure how far it's true but according to a Kiwi friend, who has been residing in London for the past 20 years, the Commonwealth countries such as New Zealand, still serve the best fish & chips dunno

I personally don't really care where they come from, I just love love love fish & chips! smitten smitten smitten
Look, this is bad, it's almost 2am over here and all these talking about food really makes me hungry now.

I think I'd rummage through my fridge and see what I can find. I think I have a bar of chocolate stashed away somewhere inside there! confused
Be careful Mimi as someone has offered to fry a Mars Bar! rolling on the floor laughing
Twazzle, just be sure the fish is locally caught. We get loads of delicious, fresh fish in Devon.

Oops sorry Cal!
talk to hand Fish & chips, the Spanish haven't grasped that concept doh next you'll be talking about a nice curry wow doh laugh wine
Mimi, NOPE, I think your kiwi friend got it wrong... I say YORKSHIRE is the BEST place for fish and chips like Twazzle said, sat on the East Coast eating them out of paper.. grin

No, seriously we do do good fish and chips here.. but I guess where ever you grow up with them you enjoy them.. but I have had them all over and would always come home for them. applause applause
Ooooooooops Mimi your helmet... roll eyes
Ok, I made a U-turn grin

Zman, its a well known fact I'm a lousy cook but I can whip some some mean curry when I'm in a good mood! drinking
Mimi, never sleep on a full stomache! scold
Mimi, it would be cold by the time it got here though moping laugh wine
Thanks Wallops, I think I'd just forego the helmet coz I love the wind blowing through my hair wink

Well my dear Wallops, if I ever get to see my Bobbikins and you come to visit me there, would you be so kind to bring over some of your yummy Yprkshire fish & chips??? Please?? please please please
There is nothing i like about the food in the Uk...... With the exception of fish and chips. They are the best .
RCS

I know right...... sigh

I shall stay up the whole night/morning.....uh oh uh oh uh oh
Especially when the chips are from Fresh potatoes and not frozen.
Zman

How 'bout 'deep freeze' and then vacuum packed it?

You just gotta pour it in a pot and heat it up on a slow medium heat.

What do you think?? wine

Or, I've got a better idea. We go on Skype and I'll teach you step-by-step on how to make the best Malaysian Indian curry? wink
Mimi, couple of problems there, does it take longer than 10 minutes to prepare, that's my threshold of boredom for cooking sigh laugh will I be able to buy the ingredients here dunno probably not as they don't do curry in Spain moping
Will do Mimi, next Spring love love love love grin

Calypso, are you working in Switzerland then? Pretty expensive over there I have heard. Was going to go in Aug but my friends decided to move back here. moping
Is expensive here, Wallops, but so is England!! Still remember a packet of crisps for 2 1/2 pence...yawn
Zman

I'm afraid it would take you approximately 1hour 25mins to prepare it from scratch drinking

So, it's out of the question then, huh?

As for the ingredients, we could improvise on that a bit. Don't you have any Indian settlers there? How 'bout Chinatown?? conversing
Nice Feet: i hear that all the time, from the dumb Swiss, who have no idea... The choice you get, and the quality, is next to none...professor
Calypso, went to Switzerland in the 60's & loved it, went back 10 years ago & it was like the Spanish inquisition just to drive over the border, hated every minute I was there & only stayed one night, will never return doh wine
Mimi, Indians here - zero, some Chinese who run bazaar shops & Chinese restaurants but I suspect they get their ingredients shipped in especially dunno
Good choice Z! Stay in sunny Spainhug
