Longevity....really only a life bargain when combined with great health....

...now we believe we have much of that which underlies it as well understood. Physical activity, sparse food intake and some fasting, plenty of good water, moderation as to toxins like smoke and drink, good genetic foundations, decreasing carnal knowledge -as age appropriate, to each her own spirituality, and a sense of gratitude and forgiveness. But perhaps somewhat oddly, lots of positive social/family interaction. But I suspect these scientist are missing a thing or two here.

Diagnosis of TD-HD Syndrome...

...right here on CS... Evidence based medicine. First get the total number of a likely syndrome sufferer's blogs/forums. This forms a denominator. Then addd up the corresponding total of those focused on obsession with a given topic. In the case of TD-HD Syndrome, these would focus obsessively on items with the theme of persecuting our Godsent brilliant President Trump. We now have a numerator, and simple division, yields a rate. Multiply by 100 for a syndrome feature specific percentage. Our researchers are busy trying to determine the minimal rate neded for actual diagnosis. But a simple inspection provides many hints. The research team has already determined that the higher the TD-HD Syndrome rate, the more severely afflicted is the individual under study. Related severity measures are also being evaluated. This would include, so far, ---degree of "gotcha" glee and stridency in the blog's written style, the inability to entertain alternative explanatory hypotheses for our President's behaviors, the marshallng of very lengthy "press reports" in alleged valid support, the failure to indict liberal Pols for clearly similar behaviors (Obama and Hilary, for two), the ueber focus on liberal themes in other blogs-themselves not directly mentioning President Trump, ---these all have importance. Hopefully, this epidemiologic approach will also contribute to the discovery of effective treatments of these unfortunate and impaired individuals. The march of science---slow, steady and not infrequently fraught with error.

Progress in medical science...

...Not rising initially to the status of an actual disesae, much of human suffering is designated as syndromes. Constelations of related signs and symptoms. For example, ueber left biased medical nosology "researchers", have for some time pushed hard cavalierly to call addictions "diseases", when given the incomplete knowledge of these, along with the huge personal behavioral choices involved, and much more, many think syndromes make far more sense. Similar issues surround the huge topic, affecting tiny minorities, of homosexual choices of behaviors. But we are making progress in naming such things. The latest research has expanded the name of a relatively new disorder, mostly Psychiatric in nature, adding details to increase specific validity. This should aid greatly in further studies. We now see TD/HDS in more and more peer reviewed medical publications. Trump Derangement/Hilary Deficit Syndrome lives on, in high grades of severity, and few effective therapeutic options curently exist for these troubled affected individuals. Perhaps I'll follow with findings from the latest research. But the problem is widespread and growing. We see some of the saddest perhaps hopeless cases here right on CS. Prayers for all.

Just wondering.....

...if the real reason for the multiple deep hate repeat witch hunts for our brilliant President Trump are frantically driven by more than severe full syndrome TDS or by his successes, in spite of his often crude style--- beginning with the soreprise mandate win against Hilary. The SCOTUS is already well poised to reverse Roe v. Wade, sending decisions on clinical fetus murder (CFM) back to individual states. The radical female ueber left wacko fringe of "progressives" holds CFM above all else in God's universe. Justice Ginsberg is long for neither SCOTUS, nor life itself, and replacing her with someone against CFM TRUMPS everything else for these women. Impeach and convict, and CFM is less threatened. Just wondering. Justice Amy Barrett, a shoe in, ---decent, mom of 5, record on the bench for all to see, catholic, and probably will support only limited, clinically sanctioned CFM, andd so much more.. Not merely for the slothful at contraception. Can't wait for the hearings. should be a hoot, watching the lefties squirm around her.

Of all the gall aka going under the knife...

I must have been 10 years old when my parents drove back to New York to visit my grandmother in the hospital. She had gall bladder surgery.

One thing I can recall was the mayonnaise jar with gritty looking nuggets in it.
Uh.... that was her souvenir of the gall stones the doctor removed!

Another thing I remember was my father saying she "Went under the knife."

As I got older, I learned it meant surgery. Surgery of any kind.

In the 1960's surgery like that involved an incision as long 12" and it took several weeks of recuperation.

Modern surgery still uses a scalpel, but it's to make small incisions. All the work is done through a few 'keyholes' where instruments are pushed into tubes and a probe with a camera on the end is that the doctors can see through to do their work!

Recovery time is considerably less. The risk of cutting muscles and nerves to get to the area requiring surgery is also less.

Last year, a coworker had a hernia repair. He was in the hospital less than 6 hours and back to work after 1 week.

In my book, that would mean the term "Going under the knife" should be replaced by the term "Going under the laparoscope"
