Feelings

Feelings are a poem waiting for a page
emotions unexpressed
like love hatred or rage
feelings are a poem
waiting to be wrote
may it be happy sad or funny
or some little anecdote.
Feelings are a poem
that we should all express
be it be times of joy
sorrow or distress,
feelings are a cry for help
waiting to be heard
things that can only be said
with the written word.
feelings are a poem
waiting just to see
how well it can be written
and just what it will be,
feelings are a poem
waiting to be expressed
finally having its freedom
when the writer lays their pen to rest.

humans desires

it seems as if there is a choice
to give a personal view and voice

to interesting things we've seen to say
but maybe it's actually another way

what influence we have on any man
may be quite limited since time began

and what is our heart may not be his
according to what his action says

or to put another way that's heard
actions always speak louder than words

so if you've wanted angst or hate
you may just want to recriminate

but if you really want to be loved
you have to give what you speak of

Sowing of Seeds

Sowing of seeds

Seedlings emerge one then another
excitement heightens with each first breath of sunlight

a formative time to instill love
to nurture-
gentle, affectionate
a shelter from a harsh environment

with each passing day, limbs strengthen
as does the bond between you
grown of the seeds you’ve planted
each individual; some more manicured, some wild
but all beautiful in their own way

a sturdy branch to lean upon
provides an extension of self
a warm touch and a gentle kiss reassures

as the flowers blossom, what a sight to behold
an investment of the heart
so proud!

now reaping the rewards of seeds you’ve sown
as giving is receiving
the ultimate gift of selflessness

a pollination of morals, generosity and character
now carried within the seeds that the flowers hold.

strike the iron

clank chink, clank chink
hammer tings, nails sink
strike a blow, swing the arc
write a word, make your mark

rhymes phrase, thoughts swim
metres made, soul's whim
feelin' down, in a funk
hearts beat, hearts sunk

tell the world, click a key
pour it out, souls free
whisper quietly, in an ear
tell the joy, tell the fear

make it wry, make it profound
make it sing, make a sound
strike the hammer, make a blow
tell us all the things to know

recount to those who want to hear
what's important, what is dear
recite to those who give a sh!t
life's wisdom, life's wit

No Time

It was in the beginning before time
As it will be in the end after time
But it was during time
That mankind did seek
But seek itself.

Lost And Found

Remember the feeling
The quickening pulse, and
spring in one's step?

When skies were bluer.
birds sang louder
and all was well with your world.

Will that, which was lost,
be discovered again?
Like a treasure almost forgotten,
barely recognised,
until the dust of time
and the debris of disappointment
are removed.

Revealing that precious thing
you had given up as lost.
Once re-found
to be cherished
for ever more

Awakening

Awakening

White columns frame the warm brilliance
as mahogany creeks beneath curves feet
roasted coffee warms the pallet and excites the nose
warm muffins and butter sweet

billowing white smoke exhaled, lingers overhead
the scented richness that a distant soil sends
the subtle groan of giants echo as they gently sway
while the familiar cold hand of winter wanes

natures song flourishes upon wings
the essence of life carried with it
welcomed by earths fertile warmth
in a 40 year slumber you might miss it

squinted eyes ponder this restoration of courted harmony
while heavy hearts are lifted by sunlight’s kiss
deaf to those who cannot hear
and blind to those who are selfish

then- this resounding realization
that strikes with a calm blow
all to often absorbed by unimportance
to love the things that grow

this awakening resonates a lingering memory of what once was
now coddled by good fortune and her!

chocolate and light

as it all melts between lips and lids
you grin and sit between do's and did's

dripping smiling rays down the edges
of your mouth's sweet and smooth wedges

just pulling out the come-what-mays
gleaning some sublime value added days

joy of the now, the here, is brighter
the taste, the scent, the melody, the writer

another day, another hour, cat warmed laps
hold sway to a warm afternoon nod perhaps

life, oh life, what desperate dappled time
a night flickered flame and book of rhyme

can my soul keep from singing these days
hallelujah and a lilting dance of praise

if I could hold you in my heart again
and tell aloud my joy, my love, my friend

I taste the sweet chocolate dessert first
drink of many joys and quench life's thirst
