A View From The Bottom

Street lights can be a suicide
All alone needing the night
Home boys cramp, turn and hide
Is it not a sign for us to fight?
Science sleeps while everyone cries
Waking up at the wrong time
The hurter over the dying sighs
Letting us down with love crime
There's an insider's buried praise
From the family calling to the dog's name
The husband and wife's matching pink vase
Hidden drama but known all the same.

treasure

searching for the lost treasure
of which i being trying to find
the sparkle of the coins blinds my eye.

wearing nothing but baggy clothes
that don't suit me at all
its time for a overhaul.

the treasure we seek at the end of the light
is just as magnificent as the gleam in your eye
be aware be smart be aware of your instincts
and always follow your utmost desires.

Please Don't Ask

Please don't ask why I am smiling

Don't ask why I look so happy

If you could walk just one day

In my shoes, you may not see

Anything to smile or be happy

About.

But looking past the burdens

At the blessings in between

Allows me the courage to face

Each day with a smile.

If I ever lost the ability to

Smile, life would surely not

Be worth living.

So please, don't ask why I am

Smiling,

Just accept that I am

And join me.

About this poem:
I wrote this poem one day out of frustration. I always try to go to work each day with a positive attitude. But there are people who just can't leave their own problems at home. They complain about home life, work and every little thing. They see me smiling and they ask sarcastically, "What are you smiling about? You get some last night?"

I got the idea for this poem from those experiences.

My little canoe

I made a little ‘canoe’, when I was a child,
to risk exploring the ‘river’ by myself...
First I slowly floated downstream
to learn to paddle it...
And I paddled crossways
to test the strength of it...
Then I confidently rowed upstream
to see the unspoiled beauty of the river...
Now my little canoe is well seasoned
to drift silently into any hidden area of the river
where big noisy boats and ships are unable to tour...
Thanks my little canoe ...

Comfort for Haiti

Haiti’s Comfort in the Wake of Despair
Without warning the earth rocked, jilted your spirit and tapped into your reserves
The truth of your spirit is not to give up, not to place blame, not to be bitter, not to gain fame
You are cradled by the world that will gently hold you in its habitat until needed no more
Haiti you will heal, you will rebuild, you will sing and you will dance again
You must have the courage to remove the emotional thorns from your crown and the wisdom to look beyond this wake of despair
As countrymen & women looking within to find ways to unattached too personal pain, you will again learn to love, to trust and to rebuild boundaries as you set forth sail
You are a people endowed with strength and resilience, equally valued as a conqueror of hard times
Time will restore wholeness; create balance and harmony which will capture the spirit of motivation rescuing you from a dismal past
Haiti’s Comfort in the Wake of Despair
Confusing as this must be, you are encouraged to look to GOD in realigning your faith that will gently restore your spirit
While baffling scared feelings and struggling with emotional and physical pain, the world supports as you are its needy child
You will not be abandoned or forsaken in your moment of triumph, for we are with you
In the renewance of each other’s vulnerability find comfort, sobbing in pain to tell your story while listening to others
Often, out of frustration, fear and pain unpleasant thoughts might erupt, there’s comfort in knowing you are not alone and we also share in your pain
Give yourself permission to ease the pain, knowing you will not fail; nothing has happened due to any fault of your own
In sharing your roots, the world is compressed with compassion to help Haiti survive and thrive
This is our pledge and our commitment

"Weird scenes inside an old mind"

Instead of brushing your teeth by moving the brush up & down
What if you held the brush steady and jumped up & down?
Maybe instead of stroking the canvas
You could have someone move the canvas for you as you held the brush
still
The same could go for writing on a notepad or wiping your butt
Would this be so different from walking on a treadmill or taking an
escalator?
Even an elevator?
Styling your hair with a stationary comb would be pretty tricky
But maybe that is what the wind tries to do
Maybe nature wants to take over and help us along with mundane tasks
Is that the reason for earthquakes and tornadoes?
Major remodeling by grand design
Floods and fire all do their thing without us lifting a hand
Suppose we are swimming upstream and should we turn around and surf
Downstream, cruising, taking in the sights at our leisure
Would that be what the wise ones meant when they sang “let it be”?

Alone In The Crowd

All my life I wanted to fit in, to be the same
as everyone else, but I found myself alone in
the crowd. I will never understand what makes
me so different from the rest. Why must I stand
out among the numbers? Why can't I be the one
that always follows, instead of being the one
that always takes the lead? That question i
guess will never be answered. I guess we all
have designations we must follow. I just wish
sometimes that life could be more rewarding and
my roads more clear. I just wish for the
understanding of life to be reveled and lives
mysteries to be answered. I don't want the
Pulitzer Prize I just want to be loved. I don't
want the world to sit up and take notice of me,
just a simple few. I don't want the honor of
being alone in a crowd anymore i just want to be
apart of something and not stand out. I just
want to give all my love and to be loved in
return.

Blue Moon

My Unforgetable Experience on New Year's Eve 2009/2010

I was on my own on New Year's Eve. It was a beautiful, clear winter's night, so instead of sitting in front of the tv watching everyone else's celebrations, I decided to drive out to a nearby field. I had to thaw the car out for quite a while as it was -6 degrees. As I set off, the road was like a sheet of ice, and the roads were completely deserted.

The field is quite elevated and has a wonderful 360 degree view all around the open countryside. As I got out of the car I was stunned at the brightness and clarity of the blue moon. It was like a giant spotlight, and you could see every detail of it's surface. As I walked through the 6" of crisp white snow and out into the middle of the field, the top layer of snow made a wonderful crunching sound as it cracked under my feet. The moon was so bright that it cast a full shadow of me across the ground. You could have read a newspaper in it's light.

As I stopped and gazed in awe around me, it was completely silent, just the sound of a tawny owl hooting in the woods. Curiously my watch had stopped at 7pm that evening so I had no idea what time it was. All of a sudden I knew it must be midnight as I heard the faint sound of people cheering, and fireworks flying up into the night sky in the distance.

In the clear inky black sky the stars shone brightly, and the constellations were easy to recognise. Just at that moment a flock of geese flew overhead in their typical V formation. I felt so lucky to be standing there, experiencing such beauty and wonderment! It was just then, I noticed a little light travelling across the sky, seemingly having been launched from the top of a small hill. Just after that, another identical light was "launched", and then another and another. I stood and watched as these silent UFO's seemed to drift across the sky in a long line. As I turned around, I was amazed to see the same thing happening from another hill. The lights didn't falter nor did they go out and there was absolutely no sound. By that time, there were 13 of them drifting silently across the night sky all around me, just adding to a wonderful, magical experience that I shall never forget - the dawning of a new year spent underneath the Blue Moon.

About this poem:
This isn't a poem, but I just wanted to share my experience with you, as it was so special.

(I had wondered if the lights that I had seen being launched off the distant hills were perhaps people in hang gliders, but a friend suggested that they could have been Chinese lanterns being launched to celebrate the new year- I guess I will never know, and I kind of like it that way).

Once Upon a Star

As my mind floats amid the stars,
where Old Man Time wanders throughout eternity.
It was somehow different this once.
*
I beheld the dark of night as her cotton soft
touch eased Isolation's trembling fear.
*
Voice of Direction lay muted, mouths of North,
South, East nor West could not speak of
Journeys Way.
*
My heart danced in the tones of her voice,
as her baby sweet smile whispered away
Solitude's sadness.
*
Here we roamed together into Mystery's Hall,
where only we could be.
No others have preceeded before,
sacred to us amidst the sky of shimmering lights.
*
Her eyes glistened of brilliance
in the sparkling moon,
as their rose blossomed beauty
melted away frozen
tears of rejection.
*
It is here, we are one with Heavens breath,
Our sea amongst the stars,
this place, created by,
and existant soley for us,
forever.
*
A distant lonely star softly flickers,
set aside for rememberence of this time and place,
where I thought I felt her say,
"Yes..I feel it too."
*
I quietly weep to that Star
where Heavens Breath fills lonely seas with passion,
where two voices drift aimlessly,
joined in silence by the beat of Love's timeless heart.
*
As my mind floats amid the stars,
where Old Man Time wanders throughout Eternity,
it was somehow different this once,
in my dreams...

Once upon a Star.
