Man plunges nine stories from NJ high-rise, lands on BMW — and survives

A man plunged nine stories from a high-rise in Jersey City, New Jersey, landed on a BMW — and miraculously survived, according to officials and a witness.

The 31-year-old crashed through the roof of the black Beemer 330i parked below 26 Journal Square at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, then stood up with his right arm dangling at his side and asked, “What happened?” onlooker Christina Smith, 21, told The Post.

“I heard a big boom and I didn’t think it was a person at first,” said Smith. “The back window of the car just busted out — exploded. Then the guy jumped up and started screaming. His arm was all twisted.”

“I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I was shocked. It was like being in a movie,” said Smith, who works in sales and had been strolling to a nearby McDonald’s.

“He was like, ‘What happened?’ And was like, You fell,” she said.

“I was thinking, thank God, it probably helped that he had a fluffy jacket on,” she said, adding she thought the coat may have shielded him from deeper wounds.

She quickly called 911, then took jaw-dropping photos and videos of the aftermath, including graphic footage of the man screaming in pain with upper body injuries. The video also shows a face mask strap still dangling from the guy’s ear, despite falling roughly 100 feet.

The man, who jumped from an open window on the ninth floor, was rushed to a hospital by ambulance and was in critical condition Thursday, said Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

The man didn’t work inside building and it was unclear why he was there, workers and witnesses said. He has refused to give cops his name and was not being cooperative as of Thursday afternoon, according to a source familiar with the case.

“He fell into the car through the sunroof, then climbed out of the car and fell on the ground. He was trying to get up but people were trying to get him to stay down —‘You don’t know how hurt you are,’” said Mark Bordeaux, 50, who works in the building and saw the aftermath of the jump.

“So he stayed there until the police and ambulances came. He kept saying, ‘Leave me alone, I want to die.’ You saw one of his arms was clearly broken, but he was conscious, he was moving,” he said.

Migrant Found Hanging from Tree in Texas 80 Miles from Border

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents found the remains of a suspected migrant hanging from a tree on a Texas ranch in Brooks County. The case is being investigated as a potential homicide, Sheriff Benny Martinez tells Breitbart Texas.

Brooks County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call on Thursday from Falfurrias Station Border Patrol agents regarding the remains of a suspected migrant found hanging by the neck from a tree. Deputies and other law enforcement officials responded to the scene.

“We have never seen anything like this in our county,” Sheriff Martinez told Breitbart Texas on Friday. “We regularly find deceased migrants in this county, but never anything like this. This is what our deputies and the Border Patrol agents have to deal with here.”

Martinez said the circumstances surrounding the migrant’s death are confusing at this point.

“We aren’t sure if the migrant was hanged or if he did this to himself,” the sheriff explained. “We will have to wait on a full autopsy to figure out what really happened.”

The investigators reported both of the decedent’s feet were removed, most likely by animals. Deputies found one foot at the scene. A search will be carried out Friday to attempt to locate the other. Investigators also found two identification cards belonging to a Mexican male.

After documenting the scene, deputies moved the remains to the county morgue where they will attempt to obtain fingerprints from the severely decomposed body.
A full autopsy will be conducted by the Webb County Medical Examiner’s Office in Laredo, Texas.

Martinez said his deputies have processed the death scenes of nearly 100 migrants in Brooks County in 2021. In addition to the 98 found dead on ranches, the deputies also processed a fatal crash where 10 migrants died and 20 more were injured.

The 118 migrant deaths recorded this year compares to 34 found dead for the entire year in 2020, Martinez said. This represents a nearly 250 percent increase.

“I just returned from three days in our nation’s capital,” Martinez said. “We try to factually tell people how bad it is this year. Some seem to understand, but many claim we are making this up. This death, while an extreme situation, is yet another example of the tragic deaths occurring here.”

Pilot Flies Old Dog 400 Miles To Get A New Home

Ashlyn was an old dog at a shelter in North Carolina — and she really wasn’t doing well.

She’d dropped a ton of weight and she suffered from sarcomas — cancerous tumors under her skin. Yet it wasn’t too late for her to have a stroke of luck.

When people at the New England Humane Society (NEHS) discovered someone with a perfect home where Ashlyn could spend the last few weeks of her life, she just needed a way to get there. So Paul Steklenski, founder of Flying Fur Animal Rescue (FFAR), decided to fly her up in his plane.

As he flew the plane with Ashlyn in the seat beside him, Steklenski started getting emotional thinking about how this might be her last ride anywhere.

Even though he’s used to flying needy dogs to rescues so they can get the homes they deserve — he usually transports about 15 to 30 dogs per month — the senior dogs particularly pull at Steklenski’s heartstrings. “Those are the ones where you focus even more on what they’re going through,” Steklenski told The Dodo.

At the beginning of the two-hour ride, Ashlyn was a bit hesitant. “She started off a little bit distant,” Steklenski said. “Then she would kind open up a bit, and she got closer.”

The dog biscuits he fed her definitely helped her feel more comfortable. “Then she gave me one paw and then the other,” he said.

Bud: ‘You can’t come in here!’
Lou: ‘Why not?’
Bud: ‘Well because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But I’m not sick.’
Bud: ‘It doesn’t matter.’
Lou: ‘Well, why does that guy get to go in?’
Bud: ‘Because he’s vaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But he’s sick!’
Bud: ‘It’s alright. Everyone in here is vaccinated.’
Lou: ‘Wait a minute. Are you saying everyone in there is vaccinated?’
Bud: ‘Yes.’
Lou: ‘So then why can’t I go in there if everyone is vaccinated?’
Bud: ‘Because you’ll make them sick.’
Lou: ‘How will I make them sick if I’m NOT sick and they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘But they can still get sick.’
Lou: ‘So what the heck does the vaccine do?’
Bud: ‘It vaccinates.’
Lou: ‘So vaccinated people can’t spread covid?’
Bud: ‘Oh no. They can spread covid just as easily as an unvaccinated person.’
Lou: ‘I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore. Look. I’m not sick.
Bud: ‘Ok.’
Lou: ‘And the guy you let in IS sick.’
Bud: ‘That’s right.’
Lou: ‘And everybody in there can still get sick even though they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Certainly.’
Lou: ‘So why can’t I go in again?’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘I’m not asking who’s vaccinated or not!’
Bud: ‘I’m just telling you how it is.’
Lou: ‘Nevermind. I’ll just put on my mask.’
Bud: ‘That’s fine.’
Lou: ‘Now I can go in?’
Bud: ‘Absolutely not?’
Lou: ‘But I have a mask!’
Bud: ‘Doesn’t matter.’
Lou: ‘I was able to come in here yesterday with a mask.’
Bud: ‘I know.’
Lou: So why can’t I come in here today with a mask? ….If you say ‘because I’m unvaccinated’ again, I’ll break your arm.’
Bud: ‘Take it easy buddy.’
Lou: ‘So the mask is no good anymore.’
Bud: ‘No, it’s still good.’
Lou: ‘But I can’t come in?’
Bud: ‘Correct.’
Lou: ‘Why not?’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But the mask prevents the germs from getting out.’
Bud: ‘Yes, but people can still catch your germs.’
Lou: ‘But they’re all vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Yes, but they can still get sick.’
Lou: ‘But I’m not sick!!’
Bud: ‘You can still get them sick.’
Lou: ‘So then masks don’t work!’
Bud: ‘Masks work quite well.’
Lou: ‘So how in the heck can I get vaccinated people sick if I’m not sick and masks work?’
Bud: ‘Third base.

How many employees have hospitals lost to vaccine mandates? Here are the numbers so far

Erie County Medical Center had roughly 400 hospital staff who were unvaccinated by New York's Sept. 27 deadline and placed on leave. These employees represent about 5% of its total workforce and have forced the hospital to halt elective inpatient surgeries and cut back on other services.

Houston Methodist, the first to announce a vaccine mandate, said it had 153 resignations or terminations among its roughly 26,000-person workforce.

Indiana University Health had 125 of its 35,800 employees resign from their jobs due to the vaccine requirement. A spokesperson told Fierce Healthcare on Sept. 23 that many were part-time workers and that the departures were the equivalent of 61 full-time employees.

Lewis County Health System said it has seen 30 resignations as of Sept. 11 in the wake of announcing its vaccine mandate and as a result has been forced to pause maternal health services. At that time, 165 of the provider’s unvaccinated staff had not yet indicated whether they would comply or leave the single-hospital system. Lewis County Health System employs about 650 people and will see its mandate go into effect Sept. 27.

MaineHealth representative Caroline Cornish told Fierce Healthcare that 58 out of its team of 23,000 had resigned and cited the vaccination requirement among their reasons, as of Sept. 24.

Med Center Health said it had fired 180 employees from its workforce of roughly 3,800 who had not been vaccinated by Sept. 1. It also highlighted the hiring of 178 vaccinated employees who would begin within a week of the firings.

Medical University of South Carolina Health fired five employees who had not met its June 30 vaccination or exemption deadline. It employs more than 17,000 people.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration said that roughly 5,000 of the city's public hospital healthcare workers had not met Monday's vaccination deadline. Although not allowed to work, city officials are reportedly hoping that those workers—about 10% of the public hospital system's workforce—will choose to be vaccinated and return to their jobs later this week.

NewYork-Presbyterian had "fewer than 250" team members who did not comply with a Sept. 22 vaccination mandate and "no longer work" at the organization, according to a statement provided to Fierce Healthcare. The system said it has achieved more than 99% compliance among its 48,000 employees and affiliated doctors and will see no interruptions in care due to the mandate.

Northern Light Health representative Karen Cashman told Fierce Healthcare that, as of Sept. 24, 89 employees had left the system due to its COVID-19 vaccine mandate. As of a Sept. 15 news conference, 91% of the system’s more than 12,000 employees had been vaccinated.

Northwell Health has reportedly fired about two dozen employees at the manager level or above that did not receive COVID-19 vaccines by an internal deadline. As of last week, it also had a few hundred staff out of its 77,000 that were not in compliance.

Novant Health has fired more than 175 employees who were not compliant with its COVID-19 vaccination requirement. The system said Sept. 21 that it had initially suspended about 375 of its more than 35,000 total employees due to vaccination noncompliance. Nearly 200 of those employees became compliant during the five-day suspension period and avoided termination.

Olean General Hospital said it had seen 11 resignations ahead of New York’s Sept. 27 deadline for a first dose. As of Sept. 14, more than 250 of its 840 employees had not been vaccinated.

RWJBarnabas Health announced back in July that it had fired six employees at the supervisor level who had not complied with a requirement for upper staff to be vaccinated by June 30. The remaining 2,979 supervisors were vaccinated or received exemptions.

Rep. Mike Turner: Milley 'Incredibly Disingenuous' With Testimony

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley was "incredibly disingenuous" with his testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, told Newsmax.

Milley left out any mention of the U.S. drone strike that ended up killing civilians, including children, rather than an ISIS-K target in the final days of the U.S. presence in Afghanistan, Turner lamented on Tuesday's "National Report."

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was "emotional" about the 13 U.S. service members who died in a suicide bomber strike at the Kabul airport during the evacuation from Afghanistan, but Milley's reaction was different.
