40,075 km at the equator, can not find last time of measurement but doubt it has changed.

I think the earth is bigger now because plants make their own food so they do not eat soil. When the plant dies it decomposes into more soil and increases the amount of soil on earth. Consequently the earth gets fat. Unless the earth is getting rid of some of the soil through the ozone layer.pp

Yes, Moelle, but it seems like I read that earthworms consume soil as part of their functioning, so perhaps they are keeping the Earth in it's trim, little figure. Who knows ??? dunno

The Earth gains mass every day but also looses mass due to radioactive decay and loss of hydrogen and helium. It stays about the same.

They had a thing on the tube the other day about how precise the earth,its axis tilt,the fact that it rotates a full revolution every 24.something hours at the speed of 1,000 miles an hour in circumference and it spins wholly around the sun,or the sun I can never remember does the sun go around the earth or the earth go around the sun.....but whichever it is is 24,000 miles an hour Totally mind blowing when you consider how vast God truly is,He has to be bigger than the Universe HE CREATED! Yet He has the tender,loving capacity to go into our hearts,He knows how we will all feel from now to eternity,because He is Omnipresent He can monitor the closest details of every life,body,soul,animal,organism etc on this planet smaller than a blue marble to him but he can go into and out of dimensions like other people go through rooms in a house WHAT A TRULY AWESOME BEING AND ALL HE WANTS IS OUR LOVE TO HAPPILY SHOWER EVERY BLESSING IN HIS WORLD ON US BUT WE ARE JUST TOO BUSY TO GIVE HIM THE TIME OF DAY! YET WE WONDER WHY HE WOULD BE SO MEAN AS TO DESTROY THE EVIL UN REPENTANT IN THE LAKE OF FIRE?

I don't know why no one has said this yet but the circumference of the Earth is not measured it is calculated. Further, it is different along the equator as opposed to along a line of longitude, etc. (due to its rotation the Earth bulges at the equator).

Whether Earth grows or shrinks, it's circumference will always(!) be 21,600 traditionally defined nautical miles.

confused Why?
Because a nautical mile was originally based on a 360° circle.
It's one minute of longitude at the Equator...
60' (minutes) of arc per degree × 360° = 21,600.

I've always wondered why we got away from using nautical miles (nm) confused

If one's going to measure distances over the surface of a sphere, nothing could be more sensible than measuring in degrees of arc.
One can judge distances in nm just by looking at any globe marked off in degrees.
Hard to imagine anything more simple.
Go figure dunno
