No need to worry about that. There is plenty of fresh water on this planet. If just half the daily flow of any one of the ten largest rivers in the world could be diverted to where it is needed, there would have been enough water for every person on this planet.
The Rainforests of South America have been referred to as the Lungs Of Our Planet.

Another way of putting it - the area of France every five years.
It's not just the Rainforests of South America.
Trees are being lost everywhere.
The only country that had more trees at the end of the 20th Century than at its beginning was Israel.
Trees are the land lungs.
Ocean phytoplankton account for 1/2 of Earth's oxygenation, producing oxygen for marine life.
Phytoplankton has decreased by about 40% - 1/5 of Earth's total(!) oxygen production capacity.
Humans - a species clever enough to destroy a planet and crazy enough to do it.
