Music, and dance....

...I've always been all about rock, blues, jazz, etc. And a little Opera---VERY little. Always could rarely watch musicals, let alone most dance. Forget Ballet. Recently, going through the enormous DVD collection at public libraries. Second time around. Had done so skipping almost all of it, except for history, shoot-em-ups, and the like. Still rarely find anything funny about comedies. But today watched An American in Paris. Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, et al, to Gershwin tunes. Corny vintage complicated, but redemptive, love stories. Paris scenes. Glad I did so. Never stop learning about what we think we already really know. Hubris.

hey, V! here are my favorite musicals. the first definitely influenced me and my affection for bad boys.

the other influenced other things ;)

Well, PF, my friend, don't know much about the first one, but Miss Liza and Cabaret are favorites here as well. Funny, that Guitar riff video is one of many I've found very helpful. Thanks.
I'm not really a fan of musicals but do like to watch a good music video, the last music video i watched was Pink Floyd The Wall.. i hadn't watched that for about 20 years, i also like watching Norah Jones in concert to she a hotty with the voice of an angel..
Yes, B., my friend. One of my favorites as well. If you get the chance, check out the concerts of "Brit Floyd" the premier cover band, which covers the music (guitar), singing (three ladies rock), etc. spot on. But lots of shots at the audiences, which underscore the power of the tunes. I loved the Franz Joseph region. Glacier, rain forest, fiord, etc.Hope Kiwi land isn't in the same danger from fire as Oz.
Thanks for the info about the Floyd cover band V, will look out for it on youtube..
Its been a pretty mild summer here so far, its nothing Aussie we are getting some places with temps in the 30s.. we do get days with smoke from the Aussie fires, you don't really see the smoke but it does make the sun orange or red and have a polarized effect..
I definitely love a lot of jazz & blues.
There have only been 2 instances, when I enjoyed any opera music at all.
1.) In the movie The Fith Element.

and more recently I saw a Volvo commercial that incorporated some

The latter used too much echo chamber for my tastes.

But I enjoyed both.

Other than those, I've never heard opera I have enjoyed.

There has been some I did not enjoy at all.
I certainly doubt I would ever actually attend an night of opera.
The worst opera situation was when I was dating a gorgeous gal close to me,
whose parents lived in south Jersey.
Some Saturdays we would visit and sleep there.
Her father was generally a very nice guy and an excellent chef.
He would wake up early and prepare breakfast. By early, I mean 5 am.
As he entered the kitchen he would BLAST the opera he enjoyed....at friggin 5:15 am.
My girlfriend was apparently used to it. But, it was not appreciated by me.
That was my first exposure to opera, not a pleasant one.
Whoops. Typo. Fifth Element, not Fith. laugh
I enjoy most music that is understandable.
