Ensure you know exactly where the interview is being held. Arrive about 20 mins early to give yourself time to go to the loo.
Do deep breathing exercises whilst waiting, to calm yourself.
Find out as much about the practice, and the job, as possible beforehand. They will want to know you are really interested in working there.
Be ready for a question that is meant to throw you out. Like 'What would you do if a patient became hysterical'
At the interview, sit with your legs crossed and hands on your knees. Don't fidget.
Make eye contact. Smile.
If you don't know the answer to a question, be honest and tell them. Don't try to fluff it. Instead say that if you were on the job, that you would ask a more experienced person.
Best of luck!
Thank you so so much.
You are an Angle
Very important to be self-confidant and a team player.
Good luck and let us know if you land it.
Thank you so much for your words of wisdom
I never knew if they wanted to know about my home life, my daughter, etc.
I figured they had my resume if they wanted to know what my experience was but then I learned why they ask the question.
They want to see how you explain things.
How you talk about yourself.
If you can talk about your last boss without being negative.
They want to see how often you smile.
They want to hear you talk about how confident you are in your skills
The position you are applying for needs a person who has a comforting voice.
If they ask.................Why do you want to work HERE?
They are trying to find out if you like the practice or you just want medical benefits.
Think of how you talk about this job to your friends. How you show excitement about working there.
Good luck Miss Ireland.
Secret, unfortunately here, you get more benefits of you don't work than if you do
Prepare some questions that put you above the rest and indicates you truly have knowledge of the business.
Use their jargon to ask the questions to indicate that you will fit in.
While you should better know questions for that type of business, here's some suggestions.
What are the typical hours/shifts ?
How many patients will I typically see in a day at this facility ?
What percentage are children ?
Are most here for cleanings or fillings ?
How many other nurses are there at this facility ?
Who do I report to ?
After growing in the position is there an opportunity to grow to more ?
When can I get started ?
With each answer they give, make a statement indicating HOW your experience(s) relates to that. Never indicate that you have no experience in that.
Instead, indicate how you are looking forward to enjoying even more experience in that.
That's for sure..
No benefits or rights for workers in Ireland
More benefits if you don't work
That's so true Molly
Attitude, just being Positive and truthful goes a long way.
Undivided attention, = Eye contact
Be Confident in your approach...
Answer their questions truthfully
Do a little bit of reverse psychology....Meaning: Ask them plenty of questions as you were more Interviewing them....(such as Jim mentioned above)
When they ask why do you want this job, never say to support myself,or anything similar
You: I am looking for a Good job, to advance my skills, and a solid company to advance with.
Kindness and communication will be a big part of that job, and something that they will be looking at very closely...
Always thank them for their time, and send a Thank You letter for their consideration within 24 hours... (shows respect)
GET REST, do not go in with red eyes, and no sleep...
Best Wishes,
I like you already and they will, too.
Just joking, be relaxed and confident, fingers crossed you get the job.
I really do appreciate it.
Thank you.
I've made up my mind about two minutes ago.
I'm not going to be attending the interview because it's effecting my health.
You're health is your wealth.
It is ñow 5 am in Ireland and I have being in the bathroom.getting sick all night from worry.
No.job is worth that.
I'll will work from home it would be better for me.
Thank you all so very much for all your kind words of encouragement..
Just believe in yourself that you can do it. Don't be negative and nervous. Be yourself and just relax.
Apply for few more jobs just to be familiar and get the experience of interviews.
Best wishes.
Get some rest.
Usha made a good point suggesting you apply for more jobs, but I'd suggest for the practice of failure.
You've failed to get to this interview, you've failed to get this job. It doesn't matter, there'll be other jobs.
Apply for other jobs, fail to get an interview. It doesn't matter, there'll be other jobs.
Get other interviews, but fail to get the jobs. It doesn't matter, there'll be other jobs.
When failure doesn't matter, you'll be able to go to interviews without throwing up all night worrying about failure.
This job was a stepping stone and the experience has value.
That is not a reason to avoid them though.
The more you do, the less nervous and more confident you become.
I have a friend who would inevitably throw up and/or get diarrhoea before interviews.
She still went.
She now has the job she always wanted.
Sometimes we have to put ourselves outside our comfort zone to get what we want.
dental nurse you can understand others being nervous in the chair and as you feel nervous now, yo will know how to put them at ease,
