Islands or Island continents perhaps - check Taiwan, Sri Lanka , Japan (take away cruise ship), plus relatively prompt action. Not exactly untouched, however.

How to explain Taiwan's successful early relaxation of lockdown too?

How to explain USA? Maliciously engineered anti-American virus perhaps rolling on the floor laughing (I'm sure some here will subscribe to such a view) or simply a combination of borders, travel and slack lockdown and uncooperative citizenry?

I would think the numbers are deflated if anything.
Different countries have different criteria for it.
Some only count deaths in hospitals, not home or nursing home deaths.
The actual number is probably way higher than the official count.

It's really hard to say how many people that were counted as dying from the virus would have died soon anyway. I was reading that in the UK the average person who succumbed had an average of three other ailments/problems. Like obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Maybe the virus took them out a few weeks or months early, but they were living on borrowed time to begin with in many cases.

We are all going to die, and as such are all living on borrowed time.
Some are living closer to that time to be sure.
But they too would have lived longer if they hadn't got the virus. So their deaths due to the virus have to be counted as such.

Maybe the broader lesson here is that if you take better care of yourself, and avoid obesity, smoking, excessive drinking, lying about on the couch, excessive time watching television, or playing on the internet, and other self destructive habits....................you might will be in better shape to survive the next wet virus that gets unleashed on us. professor

Fostering strong immune systems is paramount. Unfortunately it also runs against the pharmaceutical industry's primary goal of making money. We have to rely on ourselves, and in many ways educate ourselves. Because a lot of the time, so-called 'authoritative sources' are less interested in our general well-being, and more interested in their profits.

chancer sometimes strong immune system can work against you with this virus because it can try and kill virus and then works on over drive an auto immunity disease can then start.

I think it looks like it acts different in different bodies, so know your own body and stay safe is all we can do teddybear

The figures of the dead from here are accurate , small place , always somebody knows the victim or their family.One victim was said to be stable , director general said so at a daily briefing , person died next day . DG was pulled up over it .

Dead not being counted fully in the UK

Yesterday we were at 84 deaths..We count all deaths including nursing homes..The 84th death was from a nursing home once again in my state.
