Canadian wildfire...

I haven't followed the news about the wildfires in Canada, but a designer I'm doing a project with who lives in New York City was in town today and said the smoke reminded her of 911.

Today, there are alerts on the front page of Yahoo so I clicked the link to get a better understanding of the severity to this disaster.

From what I see New York, Pennsylvania and the New Jersey areas are most affected.
I'm surprised about New Jersey as I figure because they are on the coast they should be getting off-shore winds.

I went to the National Hurricane Center to call up some satellite imagery and the live loop shows movement in a counter-clockwise covering the entire tip of the United States.

Since the news is related to the US, I can only image the air quality in Canada must be 20 times worse there than a few hundred miles away.

Here is the link to live satellite image loop of the area:

God works in mysterious ways roll eyes
'God' didn't work at all, so I had to take it back to the store for a replacement.
Here is a chart showing how bad the air is now. Normal grade quality is anything below 50 but then it's dangerous over 300. The air quality now is 450 and is worse than any city around the world.

secretagent, thanks for the link.
I pulled up a fire and smoke map and it shows only a few spotted areas, considerably less than I expected.

Do you know if the fires under control or contained now?
for a change... I'm lost for words confused

Thoughts to the Canadians sad flower

Any truth to the gossip the Americans are pressing charges against them for polluting their air dunno
My Torontonian (see article) student mum sent me the following...
I'll bet if your (ever) say Torontonian that the silent 't' reappears!
This weather report shows the location of the fires and direction of the winds.

Totally unreal! Guess Greta can blame it on gasoline cars.laugh
@orz perhaps Greta can, and perhaps with some justification. The burgeoning of extraordinary weather events ...
I live in North Carolina and we've been getting heavy smoke from
Canada all the way down here for several days now.
Wisconsin had alert for a couple days to the point of do not go outside unless important and then for short time. Said smoke was like smoking 6-12 cigs in 24 hours. Finally clear now. I saw there were almost 500 fires across Canada and a bunch in the US also.
Huh?confused
Not you...laugh
