Bret is predicted to be the first hurricane of the 2023 season...

Bret is currently a tropical storm in the Atlantic Ocean headed West and predicted to cross the Dominican Republic this weekend.
Too soon to batten down the hatches, but it's advised to store water, canned foods, check the batteries on flashlights and get any safety gear ready for the storm that could possibly move into the Gulf of Mexico within a week from now.
Change the setting on your refrigerators to the coldest, fill a few bottles with water and keep in the freezer so you will have enough ice to keep perishables from going bad if you are without power.

Yikes!
The 5am advisory has the storm moving west at 17 miles per hour and the track one day behind the advisory yesterday. At this point, it's possible the worst part will be out to sea and the Caribbean islands will get 40 to 60 mph winds and not a full force hurricane.
Chat, Do you have an emergency plan? I mean in case you get a direct hit and you lose power and internet. Will you still be able to post your 3 -4 blogs a day? I can't imagine waking up every morning and not seeing your face at the top of the page. It would just seem odd. Not to mention going without all that drama you created last week. roll eyes Anyway, keep us posted will you?cheers
3 -4 blogs a day?
I must be slacking... Sorry, I'll try to do better.
We don't get such extreme weather here, but since I've been living on a mountain (it's a molehill by US standards) I've been mindful that a heavy snowfall could be troublesome.

I like your tip about freezing bottles of water and I'll add it to my winter contingency plan.

I hope everyone stays safe on your side of the pond.
I have that planned for summer 2025...I will fly to Seattle and spend a week with my son...then we are going to go on a Alaskan cruise...It is one thing I have always wanted to do....I am taking my granddaughter with me too...
My parents went on a cruise to Alaska from Vancouver years ago...they enjoyed it...
