Russian social media abuzz with the rumor

The rumor is Ukraine has crossed the Dniepre River in force, and pierced the first Russian line in the vicinity of Kozachi Laheri and is already about 800 meters past that. A public satellite fly by of the area is still several hours away. There is concern Ukraine may also have gotten some vehicles across the river (somehow). The location of the incursion will provide opportunity for Ukraine to sever the E58 route. Previously Russian VDV (airborne (what remains of them) troops) had manned the line, but they were pulled out earlier this week and sent to fighting to the North and were supposedly replaced by regular infantry. As stated, this is still a not confirmed rumor on Russian Social Media not yet publicly confirmed by Ukraine. professor

If you don't get your demands met you will punish me in a way that bears no logical relationship to the demand.
Well thanks for your non answer.
Makes it easier for me to know how to deal with you when these discussions come up.
Cool. beer
You want to convey that you have a secret weapon of control in a bid to intimidate me.
You want to convey that Russia has a secret weapon of control in a bid to intimidate Ukraine, or Ken.
No. I think you are not normal when you have to pshyco analyze all this instead of actually trying to bridge for a better understanding. If we can not agree on the motves of this Putin guy not even one single bit we can never see much eye to eye here I think, so I tried to fiure out where you come from opposed to me.
At least Tiger gave an answer.

I'm going now.

No, I don't plan to treat you badly, but I may ignore some and answer something you never asked or god knows what, like you did here to me. It basically gives me more freedom.

Putin, what does he want......

Yes, that is exactly what is planned. They are no more than burglars. The Old Testament preaches that a burglar in the night should be killed. Deporting is possibly a little kinder, but I suspect starving former Russians after the collapse of Russia won't be overjoyed to have more former Russian mouths to feed. Not a problem for the West or Ukraine. Like the Nazi Germans in Nazi Germany the Russian people did it to themselves by backing a mad dictator. The sanctions will remain for decades to come and what happens inside Russia, well, w only a Russian will care. Sure is they hung Putin's corpse from a St. Petersburg lamp pole and did the same to his followers maybe the West would care, but otherwise not.
Or just pour gasoline on him while he sleeps, light a match and leave with the kids. Fairly legal in some parts of the US. It may soon be Russia burning.
Ken19 posted a Russian State Duma answering this exact question on Russian Federal television in August of 2022. Sadly when that CS user account vanished so did the post. Luckily people in Europe recorded the broadcast (and have been since the war began). The below video contains subtitle English translations of the official Duma explanation. You don't actually need a twitter account to view it.
It is a little long winded and accompanied by maps and charts, but a quick synopsis is the intent of the invasion/SMO was/is to seize as Russia's own 12.5 Trillion (US) dollars worth of mineral, oil & gas and agricultural resources of Ukraine, depopulate the people of Ukraine and replace them with Russians who will develop the resources for Russia while also seizing virtually all contorl of the Black Sea. That is the official word from Russia. Nothing to do with Nazis. Just good old fashioned armed robbery and murder.

If you were wealthy and/or influential prior to Nazi Germany you were expected to function at a high rank during Hitler's regime. Just like anyone else, non-compliance was a death sentence for you and your family, including your children. There was a spectrum of compliance from those who revelled in committing atrocities to those who made a public show of obedience whilst resisting in private in various ways.

And none of it was the fault of the children.

If we ignore, or revel in human suffering because of a group's collective 'otherness', what makes us different from a tyrant?

Besides, look at what happened after WWI: when people see their chilldren painfully starving they look for somene to blame. Also, anyone promising to save them will seem reasonable.

If the Russian people starve after the war, of course it will be the West's problem. It will be a humanitarian issue as well as in our best interests to provide relief. To be careless and cruel in those circumstances is perpetuate the cycle of abuse.
I wonder if Norway was under attack...would such a move compel others to see it differently...not to mention a certain someone is being influenced by the oldest way to convert his opinion...giggle

Then ask Russians in Bali or other countries that provided sanctuaries for those...if they want to come back when all is settled...laugh
My exact answer to Grand on post 61 Kenhandshake
I asked Grand the same and how he would like to see Norway divided. Great minds think alike.grin

I am in favor of totally iosolating Russia from the world. We have the technology. The same as we do to North Korea can easily be done to Russia. I believe their telephone and Internet connections to the outside world should be severed. I believe most countries should simply sever diplomatic relations with Russia, close their Embassies, deport their Ambassadors and Embassy Staff (maybe allow them 4 or 10 Embassys staff and a Consulate to the UN, but nothing more than that. I further believe the West should totally jam their radio frequencies and make it a crime punishable by at least 4 years of jail to export or import anything into Russia. Seal off the border crossings and deny any passage. Maybe even make it a crime to yell to someone in Russia at across a border or report rumors about what happens inside it. What ever happens in that 'forbidden zone' would not be a humanitarian crisis because no one outside would know of it.
Leave all that in place for 50 years. We can do it and we should.
We made a major mistake after WWII by treating Russia as if it is anything other than a 3rd world nation. The reality is there exists nothing insdie Russia the rest of the planet needs or can not ortain from elsewhere on the planet.
We should just build a wall around USA and treat all other countries that way, great idea ! laugh
To the total extent myself and some others can arrange, Russia will become the new Land of Nod. It will show on future maps what Planet of the Apes called, "The Forbidden Zone.," with no mention that it used to be a country called Russia It is is a nice dream and a good goal to work for.
