Another update from the Sunshine state
I'm at the library right now posting this.I gotta be quick. They don't give you much internet time.
I'll FINALLY be hooked up with cable TV, fast internet
and a phone on Monday.
I got a great deal - $85 per month for all 3 services.
Plus, the guy said that if I call him ahead next year,
he will have me all hooked up for my arrival.
I'm definitely saving his number. He arrived with his adorable
3 year old daughter and I took a couple photos of her that I'm
going to e-mail him.
Yesterday I took a total of 451 photos. Yes, I know it's excessive. But, I got lots of shots of sandhill cranes, pileated woodpeckers, red belly woodpeckers, little blue heron, great egret, green herons, and some night shots of in town stuff, like the XMas tree, the Roosevelt bridge, a row of
sidewalk lights decorated for the holidays, etc..
Not bad for starting at noon. That was the time the cable salesman was done at the house. He was supposed to be there at 9:30 am, but didn't show up until 11 am. It's sort of typical down here.
While I waited for him, I pruned a lot of the trees that grew like crazy, while I was gone. I now have a huge pile of branches and vines that I cut from the backyard & front yard and side fence.
Last night I was up late, cropping & editing the photos.
I didn't even get 1/2 way through them.
Today I got up at noon and went out shooting more photos.
It's a wildlife paradise down here.
I went to a flea market a short while ago and bought 9 mangos ($7) and a bunch of DVDs (for $1) each.
Tomorrow is Sunday and I don't have cable yet.
So, I plan on visiting my aunt and watching the Jets play the
Dolphins (football).
The library is closed tomorrow, so you won't hear from me until Monday, when I HOPE to be hooked up with high speed internet.
I visited her the first day I was here and fixed her cabinet.
It wasn't able to close properly. According to her "they are European cabinets", whatever that means. She "hired 2 different professionals" who both told her it can't be fixed. I went to Ace, Home Depot and Lowe's to find the correct hinges. Thay are spring loaded and go on the inside of the cabinet. None of the three hardware stores had the right hinges. However, at Lowe's I found something that had some potential. It wasn't the same,
but I felt it could be adapted after drilling some holes. I was right. It worked and my aunt was thrilled. She wanted to pay me, but I said no. She did pay for the hinges though.
So, tonight it's back to photo cropping & editing and perhaps
I'll watch one of those DVDs.
Stay well people !
Jim
