The idiosyncrasies of man
It is always amusing to watch people trying to interact or have a conversation with someone when they do not speak the same language. Inevitably the person who is comforatble in his/her home will speak louder and slower to the other. Is it in the hopes that they will learn their language during that process? or are they hoping that the other person will miraculously understand them.Another strange phenomena has presented itself to me the past few days. For almost a week now I have not been able to use my voice due to laryngitis. very interesting is the way people have been responding to me.
It started with my little grandson (not quite 2yrs old) who will whisper back at me when I speak to him in a whisper but what was even more amusing was that I got the same response from most of the people I tried to communicate with the past few days everybody seems to treat me as if I am either
A.... Deaf
B.... Mute
OR
C.....DUMB (I think this is probably the most common impression they have )
Anybody else encounter similar reactions from people?

I haven't lost my voice before... your story makes me laugh though ... funny but true ... if you can't talk, people wonder how well you can hear ...
Nice to see you around again
Lilly, I don't open my mouth when I put mascara but I have seen many women doing it And my son says I make some funny face when I look at myself in the mirror, pouting my lips or so
BTW girls, I like your profile pics!
I have just seen little boys kicking in the air along with some karate hero on the screen
I gues they had something in common, so they found their happy medium
