not sure about the culling of any animal.
reason being is there are so many people out there looking to make a quick dollar that they will hunt these animals down and they will not be killed humanely.
I know Wolves can be considered vermin in some countries, but culling needs to be done professionally....
JMO.....
I agree Simmo. But maybe My opinion would be different if I was a farmer effected.

I dont think I could ever kill a cub crying
i cud shelter up to 3 wolves in my bedroom
Fax put on your finest red hood bouquet
ok i can shelter up to 3 wolves and role play red hood with Non
i agree something needs to be done. we cant have domesticated animals being killed by wild ones, But surely a better option would be to send the army in with their crack riflemen.
When they cull the roos (Kangaroos) here, thats what they do, or at least get the professionals in, that way it is done quickly and humanely.
Non, this is tough one, they are reintroducing wolves in some areas here, as you say I wouldn't be too keen on having them too close to the house, but as Simmo says these things need to be done professionally rather than having idiots running around shooting anything that moves, jmo.
I hear you Simmo but remember this is a fairly poor region of the world as far as I know and this is a boost to its economy. So money does have a big role. Correct me if I amwrong about it being poor conversing dunno

Fax the poor cubs crying
Yes, Simmo, a double-edged sword.
Where's the money, everything is business.

But this is not the whole truth.
And people are dying and their children.
Wolves.
Wolves is very scary.
Zman cant they capture them and introduce them to Spain dunno
Non from what little I know about wolves they can cover a huge area, it would be difficult to find anywhere large enough to cope with several thousand.dunno
being a predominately wild animal, i guess it is to hard to breed them for domestic purposes like they have done with the dingo here in Australia.
But i still believe that all animals, wild or not, dangerous or not, if they need to be culled, it should be done by professionals and done humanely...
again just my opinion.....
Fotinia wave

I know Zman. thumbs up
Just clutchin at straws dunno
A sad story.
In here no wolf, so maybe they can safe in heregrin
lavina That's nice of you
How many do you want bouquet
Yeah Elmo they even have a jet ski for the one who kills the most dunno

Ah, yes, I remember reading about it on TR-news ... I think I even left a comment on that article
Instead of killing them, feed them
India 30
I Dont Know but Im sure you could find some Info on that, and post it. Would be interested to know.

Boban Your guess is as good as mine on that. dunno
that pic of the wolfies so cute Before i wanted to cuddle with koala bear but i have changed my mind I WANNA HAVE A GOOD SIZED WOLF
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh F did i just say WOLF?
sorry i meant Rabbit
Don't suppose it might be more ethical (and cheaper long term) for the farmers to install some kind of electronic boundary around their stock, which will deter predators with a mild shock not to mention contain their livestock within it's perimeters.
You know me non, I'd rather see any pack numbers dwindle for natural reasons then hear of mass culls.
The number of wolves depends on their ability to live and breed, a female can only breed once annually and usually not until they reach the age of 4 yrs, some can breed earlier but the tendency is later.
Permitted 'poachers' will probably be quite indiscriminate and sadly it won't take too long to obliterate yet another native species for the gain of what could be human food stored in some over stuffed warehouse where it will perish because we as humans have a tendency to hoard just in case .... and breath ...very mad
cupid Your absolutely right in what you say I especially like
"gain of what could be human food stored in some over stuffed warehouse where it will perish " scold
I meant the human wolfs non
India30 So sorry for the misread.
I don't get out much,
and yes I agree that a cull could and should be made to thin their numbers.
Very sad Business.
I dont watch much news and would love to see a blog or poll on the issue all the same.
that is so very sad.....moping sigh crying crying
Yes Calli sad indeed,
how did the problem reach this level in the first place.dunno
Starving wolves will band together to form super packs, which is what is happening as the rabbit population diminishes.

My worry here is how will they actually know when they have reached their maximum kill.

When you start putting a price on an animal's pelt ,the humans become the wolf.
MICKEYMOST Very valid points that thought had entered my mind.
thanks for the Input and video. thumbs up
has any body thought of "Dancing with Wolves" that may pre occupy them, then they wont attack the domesticated animals.
Sorry just trying to lighten it up.
Still cant get my head around how any government will allow anyone to go on a shooting spree with possibility of shooting not only innocent animals, but maybe other hunters as well.
Yeah Ive been trying to put my mind into someone who could kill them cubs. I cant do it . Give it a go. It just feels wrong to even think it, never mind do it. dunno
We are having problems with the deer/elk herds here in Canada. The herds have become diseased and out of balance due to a lack of predators. They have become a serious hazard on the roads and invading towns. As a result they have also become aggressive. Its sad but culling is the best answer. It keeps the herd strong and healthy...Sometimes wildlife management is the wisest course. wine
Mickey.... love the video....
venusenvy Interesting about the Deer and Elk. some wolves would help. if the world were Ideal. but its not so yes the cull will happen handshake
Wolves are already back on the continent in some areas. Just talking about myself, we have a big forest at our front door and do I really want to meet a pack of hungry wolfes walking in the forest with a couple of kids? dunno No is my answer.
Oh yeah, some experts keep telling us they are harmless. uh oh
KNenagh Yeah I see the concerns all right. I Dont think the Irish farmers would ever let them back into the Irish Wild to much to risk with our economy being dairy . wave
Non
it seems as if i am against the culling of Wolves.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
It's just the way it is done, inhumanely.
There should be other ways than just letting anyone with a gun go shooting, imagine the uproar if a child or an innocent adult were shot.
It has happened here, thats why the government now only employ professionals or get the military to do it.
I understand simmo thumbs up
I personally hate the Idea. Im just venting the story because its on my mind. conversing
