Las Vegas woman reportedly sues a dating site for $10M, claims site doesn't properly scan applicantsI left out the name of the dating site as I don`t want it to come up as Im advertising and no, its not CS
A potentially perfect match almost cost Mary Kay Beckman her life.
FOX 5 KVVU reports that Beckman, of Las Vegas, is suing ******* for $10 million, alleging that the dating website doesn't do enough to keep violent offenders off its site after she met a man who attempted to kill her.
"He broke into my garage," Beckman told the station. "When the police arrested him, he said he wasn't there to hurt me. He was there to kill me. His intent was to kill me that night."
Beckman said she had been using ********* for two months when she met Wade Ridley in September 2010. After just eight days, Beckman ended the relationship, causing Ridley to turn violent. Later, in 2011, Ridley stabbed her 10 times with a butcher knife and stomped on her head when the knife broke.
The 50-year-old real estate agent and mother of two said the attack left her hospitalized for months. She endured three head surgeries and a seizure. While she was in the hospital, Beckman said Ridley killed an Arizona woman he met on the same website.
"I struggled a lot thinking why did she die and why did I live," said Beckman, adding that Ridley came looking for her but authorities arrested him. Ridley later committed suicide in jail.
Beckman, meanwhile, is now pushing for a disclaimer on ******* similar warnings on cigarettes.
"They don't say one in five are part of an attempted murder or one in five are killed," said Beckman. "They don't tell you people are missing."
In a statement, ******** characterized Beckman's statement as "absurd."
"The many millions of people who have found love on ****** and other online dating sites know how fulfilling it is," the statement read. "And while that doesn't make what happened in this case any less awful, this is about a sick, twisted individual with no prior criminal record, not an entire community of men and women looking to meet each other."

it wasnt me....
THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO MAKE MILLIONS AND LOTS OF MONEY, BY DESTROYING OTHERS, CAUSE THEY KNOW THE ART OF MANIPULATION AND HOW TO PLAY A VICTIM WHEN IT SUITS THEM FOR THEIR OWN GREED.
SUPPOSE THEY SAY IN LIFE, YOU MUST GO WHERE THE FISH ARE, NOT TRY FIND THE FISH.
my point was actually about people with bad intentions ,so we may be a bit more precocious about who we decide to meet
so how exactly do you make a decision to meet someone purely on a mail exchange
Yes, Boban, I know what you mean. And I want this weekend to make a blog on this topic. This is disgusting and scary.
yep it is scary...
yeah the women deserves compassion and Im sorry for what has happened to her but where on earth did she get the idea to sue a dating site and a pay off of 10 mill??? A bit unreal in my opinion
makes sense and raises a lot of questions
I mean here ,you can read peoples posts in the blogs and forums, see how they behave in certain situations ,how they react under pressure ,then move to the next level and have a mail exchange and skype
The Woman that has been stabbed, was on that dating site for two months ,don`t know how much they had put in " getting to know each other" before they met ... and she aint a teenager
lets face it, we had no chance from the start ...
I thought I new my wife and when see found out she had cancer and the treatment was not working so well she wanted to kill her self ,
so not the strong person she said she was when we met.
Not half as absurd as the guy who advertised for someone to eat.
And yes someone obliged
Yes Boban is seriouse but it can happen in any walk of life.
