Spiritual But Not Religious

Spiritual but not religious
What does it really mean?
This claim is quite prevalent
On today's scene

Is it just a new age fad
Or is it contradictory?
If in fact, it is the latter
Then what is the discrepancy?

Religion has divided a person
Into body, mind and spirit
It claims it seeks the spirit's welfare
And is sincere about it

If religion really deals with the spirit
Then why is there such a fuss
That many still continue to claim
They are spiritual but not religious?

Spiritual says you are not connected or associating with any organized religion. It covers a much broader spectrum of expressing and living your spiritual life. It can include concepts and philosophies of a wide variety of religions. So what they are saying is that they are believers but not part of any of the main line religions. They kind of make their own rules as to what is true and what not.
Me too... I dont understand with "Spiritual but not religious".
do they shy to admit what their religion or belief ? or maybe they confuse to declare what they believe confused
Vine Deloria Jr. — 'Religion is for people who're afraid of going to hell. Spirituality
is for those who've already been there.'
Hmm
I have been wondering about it too. Is religion not the base of the spiritual world?dunno

To me it sounds like being a Christian but not going to church; or being a Muslim but not going to the mosque. confused
I've been wondering for a long time what some people mean when they say they're spiritual but not religious.

Puzzling. They either are or they're not.
Spiritual is a releationship between you and God Religious is the acted of doing the samething every day!Like going to work or eating or praying!handshake wave
The Holy Spirit came first.
God, Christ and the Bible came later.
An humble answer:

Spirituality is different from religion in that it has an universal appeal and does have a strong and fully developed ethical core and it has all the best in religion, philosophy and science.

Like me, I believe in God. I have a personal relationship with God. When I pray I talk to God directly. I don't read the BIBLE or follow any doctrine from organized religion. I was born and raised Catholic but I parted ways with the Catholic church long time ago.
