What a beautiful part of the philipines and happy you finally connected with your friend!!
Hard to live with the smog when you are used to clean air in NZ...or smaller populations which contribute to pollution...
very nice and congrats
Again congratulations and may you both bring joy to each other..

Yes they are all poor there except because work just isn't available, but she is actually more assist rich than me at present lol. 2 houses and a small farm.
We have discussed what I see as there problems and have meet all her family. So think I know what how things will be.
I am looking forward of your posting more and hopefully it will create balance on this too judgmental world we have...Thanks again..
Quite frankly, the same thing here with me and my husband. After being a College professor and having finished some of my Master's degree in England, my Irish, California born husband had nothing when I met him. It was all my money that we started our life with and it was a very happy life through all his hard work and being a great man..
Thanks again for sharing us your life..
nothing "has-happened" in this respect to myself im too astute to risk falling into such a situation, I have however seen several friends, aquaintenances and a business man ruined by entering into such arrangements, with devastating consequences; therefore I have certain knowledges to draw upon naturally. It should be said that the young man concerned herin, is wished the very best from here with clear-cut reservations however.
Perhaps it may work out, only the passage of time will tell of course.
Your concerns are neverthless appreciated "happygolucky"
My Best regards,
Yours etc

just to address the caustic comment of a foul-mouthed low -educated commenter.
Good choice going to the Philippines to meet her. You get to see her in her own settings! You met her family which is great! Nice pics!
I met a very nice lady myself from the Philippines and went there in March, 2013 for three weeks! We decided we wanted to be together so she applied for a visa and just arrived here almost 2 months ago. Wonderful lady! Things are going in the right direction for us!
It sounds as if things are going right for you! Don't let other people's remarks discourage you! You spent time with her so you know her and what your heart is telling you!
I wish both of you the very best!
Sorry all for this commercial break. Now back to your regular viewing
While fast-as-you might have some sort of a point, I guess there's many genuine success stories too.
thanks again Happy.
At Gentlejim, congratulations and hopefully all will turn out right for the both of you, like I said, I was married for so long with a very nice Irish gentleman. I met him here in the States and not like a bride to order but might as well be a mix marriage and never regret a thing for 28 years.
At fastasyou. I am truly amazed at how you have turned your story to be a sort of documentary and gathering from your latest addition, you appear to be a person with so much love and concern and wanting too badly to thwart POVERTY AND INHUMANITY relative to poverty and all its dreadful and brutal effect on humans.
Well like I said, 80 percent of the world is under poverty level as 80 percent of these countries comprise this staggering statistic. It is a crime, I call it a crime because, NO ONE EVER WANTED TO DREAM OF LIVING LIFE LIKE THIS, and what makes it worse is that we seem to have the capability on fixing this, if only all the people in the world would pitch in (charity and government has to do it together),
The western world (first and second), life is about the opposite, yet this is the 20 percentile ratio. There is so much to be shared. But it is in the dispensation and procedure upon which all the received donations hold the most difficult in reaching the needy. In example, on the Typhoon Haiyan victims, there was about 300 million given by the UN to be used in recovering projects for the victims. My friend who is a Colonel in the US Army told me how corrupt the system is, that they can't even direct the proper way of getting this help to the real victims without passing the corrupt officials who in turn will reap most of this funds.
This is a sad situation.
Now having said all these reports on your behalf fastasyou, why the crude start? Then of course, on your last entry you qualified you position as a man with courage and kindness to extend your hand and heart to these victims. So may I ask you again? Wouldn't you at least be happy that there are some who are kind hearted to help these poor souls?
Thank you so much.

Just be aware that every girl there - with no exceptions - couldn't care less about you as a person and just want to improve their lot in life. Nothing wrong with that so long s you are aware.
Have a look at the poll results particularly the breakdown between the genders.
But to continue on, in many traditional cultures even today, marriage is merely a contract. As it was many years ago everywhere. Love, and personal compatibility while important considerations was not always primary consideration albeit a close 2nd, assuming options. And semblances of that still survive in religions and some countries.
I remember posting a video from a divorce court in Iran and I remember a good looking woman seeking to divorce her husband on the ground that he couldn't perform his duties to giver he children. And of course her case is solid! No regard is given to love or other soft reasons... if the man cannot perform the explicit (or implicit) duties, then her case was bullet proof.
If we consider these things one could argue that if your proposition is true regarding Manilla, maybe there's less hypocrisy afteral. It's not my full personal opinion, but I'm playing devils advocate a bit here... and TBH I can't fault the base instinct of a woman to look for a financially stable partner as long as there is not too much deception involved.
Something to think about...
