Life is short spend time with your loved ones
Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so very precious -Mandy HaleThe phone call came on Monday afternoon while I was at the office. My grandmother was at the hospital but no one knew what was happening. By the time the second call through and I was being told doctors weren't sure she was going to make it, I was waiting on my ride. With my heart pumping and the worst scenarios running through my head I made my way to the Accident and Emergency (my island version of ER) . When we were finally allowed to see her tears came to my eyes and a lump formed in my throat. She looked so frail and seeing her on a ventilator I wanted to cry out. The nurse said to talk to her and for the first time in my adult life I was actually speechless luckily my sister picked up the slack and starting chatting. All I could think was you cannot die . Not yet, we still have lots to do.
By the next day she was in ICU still on ventilator but from Thursday she is just on the oxygen mask.
Today, praise God, she is sitting up and chatting with everyone. I didn't visit her today but I told my cousin to tell her I will see her tomorrow. My granny sent the message I won't see her tomorrow there as she will be home.
Love that old girl...just don't tell her I called her old.
My family had a prayer vigil going from Monday 28th April which stretched from Barbados to New York to Florida and back. God answered our prayers and my grandmother is a fighter. The will to live is strong and her recovery is astounding.
A very special thank you to my sweetheart who has been very supportive during this time and checking on me constantly.
