What a waste of time & money.

I think when most of us look at a potential partner we look for various qualities, friendliness , sincerity etc, but above all all else comes honesty. What a different world it would be if everyone had those qualities, think of the time & money we'd all save, no need of things like passwords, internet security, queues at airport security, we could do away with police forces, armies, ticket inspectors, tax inspectors, we could dispense with locks on house & car, immobilisers, car alarms, jails could be used for something useful rather than being a burden on tax payers, we wouldn't have to do research every time we got mail on CS, CCTV would become a thing of the past, as would traffic wardens, our car insurance would cheap as there'd be no fraudulent claims, products would be cheaper as companies would try to screw the last penny from your pocket, but most of all I wouldn't have had to have spent last night reinstalling my browser after a security update crashed the program & lost half the files doh laugh rolling on the floor laughing laugh

Hey Zman, they may say you are a dreamer, but you are not the only one. sigh
But what will happen to all the job lost people.wow Population is on the rise, world has to create jobs. Wars, jAils, theft and even crime are factors of economies.doh dunno
Usha, But if we all had the qualities we look for in others the unemployed could soon be found new work, companies would take on more staff rather than trying to work there existing workers to death professor wine
Nam. Surely one of the qualities we look for is that they're not money grabbing dunno
GT, I suppose another quality we look for is that they're not barking mad either uh oh wow laugh rolling on the floor laughing wine

I really enjoy smiling at strangers. They have no idea what to make of it most of the time. lol. I don't enjoy people who are insincere and have agendas when they smile. Ewww....
And, Nam....I agree. The positivity can be barf Most people who insist that everything and everyone be positive, are just deathly afraid of feeling their "darker" side.
Those who remain Positive

Hey Gypsy, wave hug it's not that bad to be a Kardashian once in a while. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
It's sad that you actually have to spell out that you want someone to be honest in what they want when you meet them. I don't mind the money (at least for a coffee), but the time and the headache which can go along with it.

On the rest - there are insincere people around, but most of the time I cop on to them quick enough. It's just a bummer if it's people you're close to or let into your life. conversing
KN, if ever I fancy a good read I head for new member profiles, some definitely belong in the comedy fiction section of the library doh laugh wine
I was close to a fanatic about honesty and fairness but learned to expect that is an impossible dream. Dishonesty unfortunately became the cornerstone of our economy...or that is the way I feel sometimes. sigh
I still have to put up with my youngest son but luckily I never have to worry about any computer hick ups with him around. laugh
On most walls here are two clocks. They are an hour apart. This saves me from worrying about changing the clocks. All that is required is to remember, Spring is on the left, Fall on the right. I also have two watches. The Seiko is set for now, the Bulova for tomorrow. We came up with this system 20 years ago and it works well.

Zman, I agree with you. Little is worse than some update smashing your operating system. Just last month I experienced that from Sprint with their update to the Aircard software. Down my PC went at the re-boot. Wound up warranty exchanging the no longer working aircard, and also had to go Command prompt in safe mode to get the repaired system to work again. What a pain that was. Long ago Norton did that to me too, and that was that for Norton/symantec. Truly, for a clean system, first delete the McAfee or Norton, then get something safe. Superanti spyware did it once also. Claimed every single dll file on the HD was spyware and moved everything into a 'vault'. Not noticed till I tried to reboot hours later. Much flame war with their techs resulted.
Ek, I reckon it must be the same here, hardly a week goes by where you don't read about some public figure in court on corruption charges doh though in fairness the general population seem quite honest, I'm reminded of the power corrupting quote here wine
Ken, I've tried most of big names in security sofware, as you say some see everything as predatory, others quite the reverse, they all seem to make the machine snail like speed wise when it comes to booting up or when it wants to update or scan, earlier this year I was running Kasperski 2014, got a message saying I could update to 2015 free, did it & it wouldn't accept the key code, it wouldn't go back to 2014 so I was left with nothing uh oh in desperation not to be online unsecured I ended up back with Norton doh I keep it in silent mode most of the time so it doesn't take over the machine frustrated still to my surprise it cost me less than £10 beer
Zman.
I Know! Right....rolling on the floor laughing
Try free malwarebytes.

Use it as an adjunct (not active) in conjunction with something like free AVG (in free avg, go into options/advanced/updates, then kill update auto check and just update when you are about to log on (otherwise it will update without warning and mess up your typing by tying up RAM). Run/update the Malware bytes check once in awhile before going to bed.
Kn, some might even belong in the Sci-fi section uh oh wow laugh as quite a few seem to be into time travel rolling on the floor laughing
Ken, I always get worried when I look at independent lab results for AVG uh oh that's why I went with Kasperski, they were right nothing got through it, but that I reckon was because it was so slow the viruses died in the atmosphere before getting in laugh rolling on the floor laughing laugh
Yep, they lost 10 years from leaving their computer to meeting you for a drink. uh oh laugh
Titania, yes I think most people are ok but as usual it's the minority that gives us the fear of the unknown uh oh wow wine
Kn, quite laugh
Hello Z,

I often wonder to myself, why is that that case? Why is there all this dishonesty out there?

One reason comes to mind...after you security update crashed...it could be because of money. People spend a lot of money on keeping themselves secure.

after GW Bush....we also learned that fear is a great way to manipulate people.

Just a couple of thoughts.

But you are so right....wouldn't life be great if we knew every single person had our backs?

wave
Johnny, I'm sure you're right, it is the fear & the authorities that account for a lot of it, largely driven by greed of the few doh beer
Zman, I enjoyed your blog! in this ideal case of human honesty our world would be a place of Paradise.rolling on the floor laughing
Still, it needs more qualities in a man even for deciding for the ideal partner..smitten
Zman
Whilst i share your sentiments to a large degree (honestly i dowink )
it does come down to the definition of honesty.
You could have someone who is as honest as the days are long but they might be a killer. They may have killed someone dishonest.
Software giants often practice degrees of honesty. They promise there products will do certain things, but only for a little while. That's why they need updates.
If the truth be known for the last 5 years the only security i have had on my pc is Microsoft Securit And i promise not one single problem. beer
Maybe what i have is not worth stealing. doh cheers
Calleis, a place of paradise confused as my favourite tv series are mainly crime based it might not be quite paradise uh oh doh laugh wine
Simmo, your killer wouldn't get very far, being an honest man, as soon as someone said " I wonder who did it" he'd own up professor laugh rolling on the floor laughing
As far as software goes I'll try anything, as long as it doesn't say Microsoft on the box laugh rolling on the floor laughing beer
