Do You Think Long Distance Relationships Can Work?

I know that on this site several friends have found their soulmates. But I wonder if you agree that it can be difficult. What do you believe? :dun :

Providing one has bucketloads of money and vacation-time to really get to know that person, as well as being aware that someone is going to have to relocate to facilitate a future together, why not wine
Everything depends on the circumstances, and both people involved.

In today's world many couples have to spend time apart, the global economy will have them working in different places. To start apart, and learn to come together, is nearly impossible. But, only nearly.
As Ian said. I lived it.
For me personnely i would not contenplate it, It would take to long to get to know somwone properly to be with them. Pen pals as it were but that is me. We do the pen pal here in a way as we all chat to each other from all over the world. Brilliantcheering cheering
Wishing you well pink.hug
Think you must have the time and money to be able to visit that person for at least a month or longer. Not many can and even less are willing to take that risk. You can't learn much about a person in just a week or so. I tried a 5 day visit and we ended up trying to visit as many places he wanted to see, rather than get to know each other in an ordinary day to day living situation.
I had one which was loads of fun but fell flat on its face when we tried to spend too much time together, it worked best as a week every other month and loads of chat in between! Can't keep that up forever. I am best suited to relationships with lots of space. It does come down to what you both expect. dunno
Hi pinkwave

Some people above said really true and useful things for sure , it is hard to believe and trust someone talking abroad ,there are so many players on the onlline dating specialy Men,(no matter if I am man).

The fact is online dating is not bad or Diffrent than dating in person , most of couples get seprated or divorced even they met in their own street or neighbor ,so it depends on the couple ,if they are compatable ,honest with matched chemistry than there is no issue to get him/her by online dating .winehug
Not really work without effort.. but possible
There are at least 2 kinds of LDRS

1. You only communicate from a distance and have never met. To me that is being pen pals, it is not a proper relationship.

2. You meet as regularly as possible, given financial and time constraints. These are relationships, but can be very difficult to sustain over a long period. There has to be an end goal in sight, and that means one moving to live near the other.

For me, I have no intention of moving, so am not going to get involved in an LDR, they are too much like hard work. I want to be able to meet the person regularly, have a proper relationship.
I never thought it possible because I was one of the serious doubters of LDR's of any kind.....but, we(me and him) are planning something that I never dreamt possible 6 months ago.

I am an incredibly lucky woman.....and so is he for finding me...professor laugh uh oh (I think) laugh
Have you met him Berry, or is that the big event?kiss
Can they work? sure.

Are they a good idea? no.
Well, you know me....not the silly chook....on my good days...laugh

We're organising a visit very soon.....from the other side of the world....have to keep pinching myself. We've been in contact constantly for weeks. He has no ties and loves New Zealand as a potential business venture.

Of course, we have faced the possibility of it "not working"....but we're both 99.9% sure this is it.

I was so anti this sort of thing just months ago....now a complete 180.

Can you wake me up Molly please....doh
I have to agree Ocee....but this feels SO right.

This is something I wouldn't ordinarily have even dreamt about a few months ago. In fact, I had "not looking" on my profile....but that didn't stop us....was basically here on the forums/blogs for distraction only. Sometimes you have to go for it....and going for it we are.
I never expected a stampede of well-wishers...rolling on the floor laughing
Why would you want to wake up, Berry!hug

You are making something a reality.
