Rotate This!
Do you find that sometimes, things pop into your brain without any warning and you have no idea where they came from?I had one of these moments today. I was driving home and looking at a new apartment building. I noticed the balconies were all in shade at that time of day, and then thought, because they were facing west, that they would be really hot in the late afternoon and how much that would suck - for me, anyway.
I though of my own house, and how hot the living room is in the late afternoon. I then had this 'brilliant' idea that wouldn't it be great if all of our houses revolved? If they were all built where, with just a click of a remote, you could turn your house however many degrees you wanted it to turn, to be in shade, or in sun and everything in between.
Too hot but still want the sun? Click, turn the house so that you're not getting the direct sun.
And then I thought, how would apartments work? You could have each floor individually move, but you couldn't have each unit move. If each unit moved, the whole thing would be spinning like a top. I want it here. Click. No! I want it here. Clickekty click. No, HERE! Click, NO! HERE! Clickety click. Click, clickety click, click, clickety click.
People would be leaving the building dizzy. Even having the floor revolve could be an issue. One person would have control and - well, we all know how that would work. You could have the floor revolve consistently, around and around and around, so no one ever gets too much sun. (Who am I kidding? In this area, there's no such thing as 'too much sun' ).
So, back to houses. This would be great! Along with revolving, you could have them lift up and down, so that you could see over the neighbor that built a huge house in front of you, blocking your view. Well, maybe not. It could end up like riding a bucking horse.
Hmm... maybe have the kids rooms revolve, and when they're bad and they get sent to their room, put it on 'fast' spin. Bet they'd learn to behave in a real hurry!
But still, a revolving house? Seems like a great idea to me. Heck, they have houses that unfold now, so why not just add a 'spin' feature? Maybe that'd be too much like being in a dryer cycle. Rotate may be more accurate, and less dizzying.
