My reason is pretty simple. With months and months of on and off searching, I couldn't find something I really liked. My new agent sent a text that a few new listings came online. She wanted to see if I had time to look.
Of the ones I was interested in two to three weeks ago, they already received offers and sales are pending. It's the season. Northerners are here and units in the development I've been shopping at get scooped up quickly. I'm told many of the offers are cash so there's no wait for loan approval.
A long-time friend and coworker asked if he could join me in the search. He's got a friend already living in that community and is looking to help out a couple he knows who will be looking real soon.

One unit we saw looked nice as we walked in. The wall surrounding the kitchen was cut away and they created a breakfast counter at bar height. The only problem was the workmanship was rough. The bar top wasn't level and the patching on the wall was uneven. Skip that unit.

A few were overpriced simply because they had the original kitchens and asking the same as units with renovated kitchens.

One unit was in shambles... water was dripping from the a/c unit and a puddle on the laminate floor. There was a strong chemical smell and the agent said "Stop... don't go inside!" I had asked why and she said she recognized the smell... someone had died in the unit and they were treating it to remove to odor! Yeah, skip that one!

There were a few more to see and I was getting tired. But, I persisted. The realtor said another one came available and she got the 'go ahead' we can get in to see it. The outside of the building had been recently painted, the landscaping was the best around, the ugly 'fake tile' fascia was replaced with smooth panels. Less than 5 minutes of a walk-thru and all of us agreed it was the cleanest one we had seen in our search.

I left the agent with a 'this could be the one' and she called me back later to say other agents had shown the unit after we left. Was it a sales ploy? Possibly. But with the exception of the asking price, all the conditions had been met. This place was clean enough to move in tomorrow and not have to tear out the kitchen and baths to make it livable. I decided to make an offer and she came back with the owner's counter. I went up and they came down and we struck a deal.

I cut a check for a small deposit and signed an agreement to proceed with the purchase.

All week, I've been filling out documents and getting quotes on mortgage rates. I found one company I'm happy with and tomorrow, I'll meet with the home inspector to confirm that there aren't and hidden problems.

Now that I'm buying this condo I decided to stop looking for other ones.

I had a self-realization today. Woken by the phone ringing, I answer it still half asleep. On the other end, a close friend of mine…I will name him Joe. Joe is a truck driver and he is complaining to me about another driver that he teams with (or follows because they have loads going in the same area). Because Joe is close to me, I share in his frustrations.

Not even as I hang up with Joe, my call waiting beeper alerts me to another incoming call. This time, it is another close friend of mine…I will name her Missy. Missy is complaining to me about how she did a favor for her brother and that good deed turned into a huge issue. Her brother ended up canceling an important meeting with the garage to have his vehicle repair, which both the brother and their father needed to have on the road. The garage owner calls Missy letting her know about this failed obligation by her brother and father…telling her that he had to pay a guy for five hours of labor, for nothing. Again, I know all these people very well and also share in their frustrations.

After getting off the phone, I am thinking to myself, what the hell is going on here? Everyone is in a bad mood and somehow, I am getting stuck in the middle of it all. As I open the door to leave my home and walk outside, the frustrations I felt immediately left me.

The day was bright and beautiful, mid-70 degrees , and a light breeze. I thought to myself, how did those frustrations leave me? Then it occurred to me. I have a lot of positive things in my life. I am not going to go through and mention them all, but a few include, a gorgeous day, the ability to walk, the ability to see, good friends, good family, etc. Also, I have faith in my life. I have faith that life is going to work out the way it is suppose to for me and therefore no real worries. Now if you are not religious (I am not the religious either), one still has many positive things in their lives….but, do you choose to see them?

With talking with Joe and Missy, I can tell these situations they were in are going to define their day for them. In fact, Missy was telling me that she was going to tell her brother that she wanted nothing to do with him anymore. To a person with an abundance of positive perspective/energy in their lives, that sounds like a drastic decision. But, with a person that has very little positive energy in their lives, this one conflict becomes a defining moment in their lives.

I thought of this for an example. I watch Naked and Afraid on the Discovery Channel. Usually it is two people, a male and a female, that are dropped off in some remote area naked and each has only one tool of choice. They are left out in the wilderness to survive for 21 days with nothing but each a tool. Somewhere in the middle of their time, they are usually very hungry and thirsty. There is no abundance of food or water. You should see them when they kill a little snake or a little mouse for food. They are very excited and it defines them. To us watching on our couches while eating our bag of chips, we can see that the little snake or mouse does not mean much to us…in fact it is repulsive.

It is the same thing when we live our lives in abundance of light energy (love for ourselves/others, compassion for ourselves/others, appreciative, respectful…etc.) or an abundance of dark energy (hate for ourselves/others, disrespect for ourselves/other, envy…etc.)………when you have an abundance of potato chips to eat, a nasty burnt chip is not going to affect you all that much. When you have no abundance of food, that tiny mouse makes your day. When you have an abundance of positive energy within you, that brother that upset you is not going to define your day. When you have an abundance of negative energy, you want to disown your brother and have it define your life.

When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sand paper. They may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless.

I just seen a woman celebrating in her what appeared to be very expensive boat. I am not sure if she just sailed around the globe by herself or what she was even celebrating about...

But the "righteous" thought occurred to me...what if all the money she spent preparing and accomplishing that goal was spent toward something more self-less... ....let alone the time.

Not just her...but what about other things people sink endless money, time, effort and thought into for selfish ends.




Just me be righteous here.

I was back in high school and the girl I had a crush on back then was messing around with my jacket with a pair of scissors. She accidentally cut my hood in two places. In my dream, I felt it was fair to cut her hood of her jacket, in the same places. She was not impressed by my decision. I explained to her, well, you cut my hood. I started questioning my decision of doing so as she persisted to be disappointed.

So I told her,okay....because at this time in my dream, the whole classroom was full of people, young and old. I told her, okay, I will take a vote with the people in here to see what they think. She left the room and proceeded to wait in the hallway. I got all 100+ people's attention in the room and took the vote. An overwhelming amount of people said that it was not okay.

I walked out into the hallway and told her the results and deeply apologized for my action. She thanked me, we nearly kissed, and she said, "that is not very loving...people who have to have things my way, or the highway."

Take what you want from this dream...I found it very profound.

Insurance sells you fear relief...

If that is right, the more fear they stoke, the more insurance they sell.

Suppose you spend three hours every night on this type of activity. Moments that help you relax, but that also cost you a lot of time. This costs you about (3 × 365) 1,095 hours per year. These are 45 full days or 6.5 weeks per year on which you continuously stare at your screen.

It also comes down to almost 7 months of full-time work . Wow.
