Hotter than hell

A cluster of wildfires has scorched the Texas Panhandle, including a blaze that grew into one of the largest in state history, as flames moved with alarming speed and blackened the landscape across a vast stretch of small towns and cattle ranches.

Authorities warned that the damage to communities on the high plains could be extensive.

The largest fire — which expanded to more than 3367 square kilometres — jumped into parts of neighbouring Oklahoma and was only about 3% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Playing a BEATLES album backwards...

I grew up in the time period where long playing (LP) vinyl records were king. The platter was 12 inches and they ran at a speed of 33-1/3 rpm. A decade earlier were 7 inch records that ran at a speed of 45 rpm with only 2 songs, an A side and a B side.
The 45's were perfect for coin operated jukebox players often found in fast food restaurants. Drop in a dime, make your selection and it will play a song. For me, the music I listened to was too obscure for top 40 air play, so LP's were the only way to go.

Depending on the length of the songs an LP, you might find more than 10 songs on an album as the total playing time to be around 44 minutes.

I'll admit, I was a BEATLES fan when I was a kid. There were lots of influences in my musical beginnings and in 1966 we were told that Paul McCartney had died in a car crash and was replaced by a look-alike named Billy Shears. The news was everywhere and so were the fact finding documentaries.

Confirming this were the many clues on the BEATLES records... the one thing needed to hear them was to play the recordings backwards.

I owned a DUAL brand record player with a SHURE brand stereo cartridge. It had a speed adjustment of only + or - a few percent so not possible to run the motor backwards... but I was able to record to my Wollensak reel-to-reel tape machine, flip the tape over, move the play head to the monaural setting and poof! Backwards BEATLES.

Don't ask me if I heard John Lennon saying "Turn me on dead man, Turn me on dead man" as maybe I didn't... or maybe I did.

mandate thieves in pakistan

A coalition including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has agreed to form Pakistan's next government, ensuring that former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party is the most powerful. Be more powerful. Despite getting votes, she will not come to power. Vote in the election.

At a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday night, it was confirmed that the rival parties had agreed to form a coalition government with two smaller allies to "bring Pakistan out of trouble" and that the Muslim League ( The President of N) Shehbaz Sharif belongs to him. Nominee for Prime Ministership.

Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party criticized the alliance, calling it a "mandate thief".

The HIGH cost of supporting Trump...

Big news topic this month are the dollars pouring out of supporters wallets and into the hands of Donald Trump. I read that while the money was intended as campaign donations, the bigger portion is being used to pay his legal fees. Reported yesterday, that number has exceeded $50 million and expected to go higher.

Alina Habba wasn't good representing him for the E.Jean Carroll case, the jury awarded
Carroll $83 million and Trump is seeking a new legal team to represent him for the appeal.

Hotelier Robert Bigelow stated that a few weeks ago, gave Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump $1 million for his legal fees.

As a kid, we used to enjoy caramel-coated popcorn that came in a box, sold under the name of Cracker Jack. The lure was a prize inside. It didn't take long to figure out the prize was at the bottom of the box, so all you have to do was turn it upside-down, open the package and get your prize. Usually it was some worthless plastic (fits all) ring that got tossed aside, leaving you with a box of popcorn.

My thought here is when will Republicans come to the realization that all that sugar is on puffed up corn with a useless prize. Like Herpes, is this the gift that keeps on giving?

Little 6 Year Old Palestinian Girl Hind Amada

The 6 Year Old Little Palestinian girl who is trapped in a car that the Israelis shot up and killed her entire family
The Authorities talked with her for hours to keep her spirits up
In her dire situation....She is wounded and stuck in a car with her dead relatives all around her
It is freezing outside and she is terrified of the Dark
The Red Crescent sent 2 EMT men to find her with the Coordinance from the phone she is using to get to where she is
And now? the people of the Red Crescent have now lost contact with those 2 would be rescuers
It certainly looks as though they might have been killed by the Israeli Army because the Israelis shoot first and if you are still alive? They will then ask Questions
Something has to be done to try and stop the Brutal killing of the Children
May little Hind Amada be protected by God

It is my belief that this world would be better off
If the Children of the World were in charge The grownups really suck at the job

Rudy's back! Back in court...

Rudy Giuliani, former Trump lawyer, former New York mayor, former human being has filed chapter 11 in bankruptcy court and alleges the Republican National Committee owes him $2 million in legal fees for being Trump's attorney on or around the 2020 election.

During the hours-long questioning, Rudy stated: “I got paid expenses, but I never got a salary.”

As usual, I scan the article to see what's important and go to the reader comments to see some of the opinions. Here are a few:

Anthony
This is key, Rudy Giuliani was the person telling Trump to 'just say he won' on Tuesday night. The professionals know that votes are being counted in the days following Election Day. Why you ask? Mail-in ballots, oversea ballots, early voting ballots, etc. Some States count the early votes and tally them into The Day vote, some States wait until after The Day. America has pristine elections. Some recounts found extra votes for Joe Biden. There were no 5,000 dead people voting anywhere. I'm an honest architect. I only work with honest clients and honest contractors. To lie when designing and building a project would be a travesty, wrong on every level. Trump lied and he continues to lie. Rudy helped, quite a lot.

Brian
the best part is that Rudy thought he would actually be paid for this! thats Trumps signature move, to not pay the people who he owes money to

SomeOne
Most recounts found extra Biden votes, not the same for Trump.

David
Also relevant is the actions of Trump's Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, who took automatic sorting machines out of post offices to slow down the movement of mail-in ballots -- the very votes which Trump feared would go against him.

The Hateful 8
“The American people are waking up to the abhorrent weaponization of our justice system for partisan political gain, and the fact that we are here today is just another example of this great injustice.”

Actually, no. Serious crimes were committed by Trump/GOP/Rudy for which these folks need to be held responsible. It's called justice. There's nothing political about being held responsible for breaking laws.

Facts only, Please
Financial fraud is a felony. How difficult is that for you to understand? Trump was under investigation and being subpoenaed long before he decided to run again... so who exactly is weaponizing the justice system?

Elon musketeer
Why stop there? Why don’t you accuse the govt of deliberately not helping trump to be the next president? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. What Trump and his cohorts did is distort history by encouraging an insurrection. This is treason punishable by death. If it was you and I in the same spot? We’d be fish food.

Tomahawk
Rudy should have known from prior experiences people have had with Trump, get it in writing. On top of that, you have this "weaponization of justice" comment again. It's not persecution, it's prosecution. A jury of his peers found him guilty in the civil case against him. He lost, and was ordered to pay $148 million, not by the justice system, but by his peers. And please, the FBI has been led by a Republican throughout its existence.

Don
So here is a lawyer who claims he worked for nothing and there is no signed agreement or contract to perform or not perform. o*al agreements Rudy?

Steven
Ted Goodman, an advisor for Giulani, wrote in a statement that the former New York mayor has "earned everything he has in life through honest hard work". This speaks volumes, because he's both financially and morally bankrupt.

Citizen Trump Has Lost His Appeal

Trump appealed to the District Court of Washington DC to dismiss Jack Smith's criminal suit against him.

The appeal was based upon three arguments previously rejected by the trial judge Tanya Chutkan:

1. The proposed DC criminal trial constitutes double jeopardy because Trump wasn't successfully impeached for his involvement in the January 6th riot/insurrection;

2. The president has immunity for acts performed within the outer perimeter of the scope of his/her office;&

3. The president has aboslute immunity for any criminal act, or from any civil liabilty during his/her period of office.

(I think there may have been something about absolute presidential immunity forevermore, but that's so bonkers I can't get my head round the mere suggestion.)

The appellate court consisting of a panel of three judges (Republican appointee Judge Henderson and Democrat appointees Judges Pan and Childs) affirmed Judge Chutkan's ruling per curium (all three agreed) that there is no legal, or constitutional basis for dismissing the case on those grounds and that Trump's right to defense is the same as any other US citizen.

The District Court also ruled that Trump has until the 12th February to request a stay of the order pending appeal to the Supreme Court. If they don't hear from him by then, the trial is back on.
