Preferential treatment?.........Hmmmn.

About a month ago, after observing that some men’s profiles were either devoid of a personal pic or featured a pic of an animal (and in one case, a drawing of a cat with a rose), I decided that it would be all right for me to do the same. So, I posted a pic of Sweetie Pie as my primary photo.

Almost immediately, the pic was removed, and I was informed that I could not use it as my primary photo. I was very disappointed and thought of querying that policy, because other CS members were being allowed to do otherwise.

Why was I being denied the same opportunity? Was it because I was (and still am) relatively new on here, and there’s some sort of ‘probationary’ period to complete before I could do so? Was it because they have a policy that ‘men’s faces don’t really need to be seen, but women’s do’? Was it because the ‘mods’ only do random checks and just happened to be checking when I put up Sweetie’s photo? Was it because…………….?
I couldn’t think of anything else that was plausible.

Then, earlier today Avocet’s profile pic (featuring 2 dogs, I think) made Galrads ask how he was able to ‘get away’ with that, and I wondered about the mystery behind it all.

Is this a case of preferential treatment, or a faux pas that was missed by the CS ‘powers that be’? hmmm dunno confused

God Places Rainbow In Sky, Promising Never To Flood The Earth With Liberal Tears Again

U.S.—Amazed onlookers across the country confirmed Tuesday that a massive, brilliant rainbow appeared in the sky, a promise from the Almighty that He will never flood the earth with so many liberal tears again.

A booming voice accompanied the wondrous sign, making a covenant with the nation never to allow liberals' tears to cover the entire surface of the earth again, as occurred over the past several weeks. The miraculous message in the heavens appeared just as the floodwaters from Brett Kavanaugh's nomination began to recede and portions of dry land began to emerge from the surface of the waters.

"It's great that we have this guarantee because I was getting really worried about how we would keep our heads above water when Ginsburg retires," said one man in Connecticut. "Praise the Lord for His grace upon mankind!"

Kavanaugh himself celebrated the reappearance of dry land by planting a vineyard and telling his family he was going to go lie down in an adjacent tent for a while, according to sources.

The covenant does have one loophole, however: should Trump win reelection, the Lord would make "no guarantees" that a literal worldwide flood would not occur.

Nearly 90 retired Generals and Admirals call for the resignations of Milley and Austin

Nearly 90 retired U.S. generals and admirals penned an open letter asking Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley to resign from their positions following their “negligence in performing their duties primarily involving events surrounding the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.”

“As principal military advisors to the CINC /President, the SECDEF and CJCS should have recommended against this dangerous withdrawal in the strongest possible terms,” the letter states. “If they did not do everything within their authority to stop the hasty withdrawal, they should resign. Conversely, if they did do everything within their ability to persuade the CINC/President to not hastily exit the country without ensuring the safety of our citizens and Afghans loyal to America, then they should have resigned in protest as a matter of conscience and public statement.”

This “hasty retreat,” the letter continues, not only left thousands of vulnerable Americans and Afghan allies stranded at the hands of the Taliban but also contributed to the “catastrophic” loss of “billions of dollars in advanced military equipment and supplies falling into the hands of our enemies.”

“The consequences of this disaster are enormous and will reverberate for decades beginning with the safety of Americans and Afghans who are unable to move safely to evacuation points; therefore, being de facto hostages of the Taliban at this time. The death and torture of Afghans has already begun and will result in a human tragedy of major proportions,” the letter says. “The damage to the reputation of the United States is indescribable. We are now seen, and will be seen for many years, as an unreliable partner in any multinational agreement or operation. Trust in the United States is irreparably damaged.”

This damaged trust, the retired generals and admirals argue, gives confidence to U.S. enemies who “are emboldened to move against America due to the weakness displayed in Afghanistan.”

“China benefits the most followed by Russia, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea and others. Terrorists around the world are emboldened and able to pass freely into our country through our open border with Mexico,” the letter states.

The letter also points out how military leadership’s focus on “wokeness” is hurting the viability of U.S. troops and the military as an institution.

“In interviews, congressional testimony, and public statements it has become clear that top leaders in our military are placing mandatory emphasis on PC ‘wokeness’ related training which is extremely divisive and harmful to unit cohesion, readiness, and war fighting capability,” the letter says. “Our military exists to fight and win our Nation’s wars and that must be the sole focus of our top military leaders.”

“For these reasons we call on the SECDEF Austin and the CJCS General Milley to resign,” it concludes. “A fundamental principle in the military is holding those in charge responsible and accountable for their actions or inactions. There must be accountability at all levels for this tragic and avoidable debacle.”

Over the last week, multiple GOP lawmakers called on President Joe Biden to resign for “dereliction of duty that has left Americans dead at the hands of terrorists.”

Has Your PC Been Hacked Lately?

While this is possible, it is unlikely. Unless if you have a static IP address, you are too elusive on the Web. Every time you log on with your ISP, you are assigned with a new IP address that was randomly selected from a large pool of addresses. The probability of getting the same IP address next time is rather small and a possible hacker who was busy trying to get into your PC, has lost you. He will have a hard time to find you again.tongue

Condensed to a small scale, you get two kinds of hackers on the net. One is the ankle biter who has nothing better to do. He is the villain who will delete your data files just for the hell of it. If he is smart enough, he’ll install a script on your hard drive to delete your system files next time you start your machine. He found you by accident, he’ll do his thing and scoot off without even wondering who you are. A pain in the a**, but nothing that cannot be overcome by keeping a proper backup.help

The other one is more dangerous. I call him the cyber spy. He wants information and normally he wants large volumes of it. Unless if you have very important data on your machine or something specific that he (or his client) may be interested in, he will not find your machine attractive.uh oh

What is the danger then? Because this is the scoundrel who will hack the Gmail, Yahoo, or Facebook servers. Those servers have large volumes of personal information (about you too) that can be sold to mailing companies. Or scammers will use the information to scam you and your contacts with the information they gained by reading your emails. They will not advertise their presence on the server, as they want to come back for more info later. A tip here is never to leave any information on the mail server. Use a mail client like Outlook Express or Thunderbird to download your emails to your PC and keep all your contacts on your PC. Leave nothing personal on the mail servers.cool

And CS? Will they be hacked? I suppose it is possible that some have tried, we won’t know and they won’t tell us. However, CS keeps preciously little useful personal information about us and data collectors won’t find it lucrative to spend the time hacking it. If your personal profile was hacked, you will probably find the security breach closer to home. Keep your passwords safe and secret.detective

Most hackers gain access to your PC via a user account that does not have a password. Make sure that every user account on your PC is password protected. You cannot prevent hackers from gaining access to your PC. It is like protecting your house against burglars. If they want to get in, they will. You can only make it difficult for them. A hacker needs time to hack a PC. Don’t give him that time. Don’t stay online while you go to the supermarket.scold

As a consolation, your PC is a low priority target. It will only attract the ankle biters. There is nothing to gain by hacking it. It is the fat web servers, hosting large databases that are at risk. Thieves won’t break into houses where they don’t expect to steal something valuable. Even Robin Hood robbed the rich. There was nothing noble about that; the poor had nothing worth stealing.doh

Actions speak louder than words....

Ive said it once, and I will say it again.

Actions speak louder than words, a small gesture is all it takes,

A blink of an eye, is acknowledgement, a nod of a head is acceptance, little gestures.

It pisses me off, that people do not have manners, you hold a door open, and the person behind you, just glides through, not even lifting their eyes from their mobile, you wait, while someone corrects their parking, just a quick salute, would be nice.

Manners cost nothing, we all have them, well, most of us do.

Perjury ? Looks like it

Christine Balsey Ford ex-boyfriend says she helped friend prep for potential polygraph; Grassley sounds alarm

In a written declaration released Tuesday and obtained by Fox News, an ex-boyfriend of Christine Blasey Ford, the California professor accusing Brett Kavanaugh of s*xual assault, directly contradicts her testimony under oath last week that she had never helped anyone prepare for a polygraph examination.

The former boyfriend, whose name was redacted in the declaration, also said Ford neither mentioned Kavanaugh nor mentioned she was a victim of s*xual misconduct during the time they were dating from about 1992 to 1998. He said he saw Ford going to great lengths to help a woman he believed was her "life-long best friend" prepare for a potential polygraph test. He added that the woman, Monica McLean, had been interviewing for jobs with the FBI and U.S. Attorney's office.

He further claimed that Ford never voiced any fear of flying (even while aboard a propeller plane) and seemingly had no problem living in a "very small," 500 sq. ft. apartment with one door -- apparently contradicting her claims that she could not testify promptly in D.C. because she felt uncomfortable traveling on planes, as well as her suggestion that her memories of Kavanuagh's alleged assault prompted her to feel unsafe living in a closed space or one without a second front door.

Ford "never expressed a fear of closed quarters, tight spaces, or places with only one exit," the former boyfriend wrote.

However, on Thursday, Ford testified, "I was hoping to avoid getting on an airplane. But I eventually was able to get up the gumption with the help of some friends and get on the plane." She also acknowledged regularly -- and, in her words, "unfortunately" -- traveling on planes for work and hobbies.

And Ford explicitly told Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., on Thursday that she had a second front door installed in her home because of "anxiety, phobia and PTSD-like symptoms" that she purportedly suffered in the wake of Kavanaugh's alleged attack at a house party in the 1980s -- "more especially, claustrophobia, panic and that type of thing."

In a pointed, no-holds-barred letter Tuesday evening that referenced the ex-boyfriend's declaration, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley demanded that attorneys for Ford turn over her therapist notes and other key materials, and suggested she was intentionally less than truthful about her experience with polygraph examinations during Thursday's dramatic Senate hearing.

"Your continued withholding of material evidence despite multiple requests is unacceptable as the Senate exercises its constitutional responsibility of advice and consent for a judicial nomination," Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote.

Under questioning from experienced sex-crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell last week, Ford said that she had "never" had "any discussions with anyone ... on how to take a polygraph" or "given any tips or advice to anyone who was looking to take a polygraph test." She repeatedly said the process of taking her own polygraph in August was stressful and uncomfortable, although she testified she could not remember if she took the test on the same day as her grandmother's funeral, or the next day.
