DeSantis and the Migrant Flights to Martha's Vineyard...

Different versions of this story keep popping up and the reader reactions are wildly opposites.
As a Florida resident, I see lots of media about our governor Ron DeSantis. That too has wildly opposite opinions about him. Months ago, I predicted he was being groomed to run for the 2024 presidential election and it appears he does lots of attention getting schemes to be seen and heard.
The most direct effect I've seen from him was being instrumental in getting vaccine distribution to many of the 55 and over communities. People around here still bring that topic up and as far as I see, he's liked for support of the elderly.

Recently, he's part of convincing Venezuelan asylum seeker undocumented immigrants from Texas to sign up and they will be transported to Boston in the Northeast where they will be offered housing, food and cash assistance. Pamphlets were printed in English and Spanish explaining the benefits and what was in store for them.
The plan was misrepresented as the immigrants ended up not where they were told, they would be relocated, instead they were placed (dumped) on the resort island of Martha's Vineyard in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

DeSantis claims responsibility for this. He also had the help of a former U.S. Army combat medic and counterintelligence officer Perla Huerta. Both of them are in the news.
Why? It would appear he's forcing an issue that nothing is being done about illegal immigration in the United States. The migrants became political props for his actions.

Ron... I think your point was made. One fatal part of your plan was to use funding from a different budget and transport/traffic asylum seekers across state lines.
I'm reading that lawsuit against you could cast a shadow while you wrangle out of this.

Sure they filled out consent forms before boarding on a plane. I think the word is duped.

THIS IS PHILOSOPHICAL

Is it possible for a country that is described as "Advanced" to be racist? If yes, then what is the advancement all about?confused

It's the International Day of PEACE today...whoopee.

Embedded image from another site

"Wednesday 21st September 2022 (i.e. tomorrow) is the International day of Peace on this planet. The actual purpose of universal peace day is to foster acceptance by engaging all the people. It asks them to show their commitment towards peace by remaining non-violent. This day is an ambition to remove all the differences amongst each other and build a culture of peace everywhere." (https://internationaleventday.com/event/international-day-of-peace/)

Currently, "terrorism, hatred, violence and armed conflicts are the elements that have put drastic damage to the peace and economy of the world", and I wonder if their 'leaders' would put aside their differences, for peace sake, on that day. And even if they do, what's to stop them from resuming the violence on Thursday 23rd?

Does it really make sense to have a 'day' of peace? Perhaps a month or a year would be a better way of offering those who are involved in 'war' some more time for reflection, negotiation, etc, whilst observing a longer period of 'peace'. That would certainly be a welcome respite for those who aren't involved but are empathetic, and especially for those who are suffering directly because of it.

A 'day' of peace just isn't enough.professor scold sad flower

Parable of the Blind and Deaf.

Once upon a time there were two men.

One was blind and the other was deaf and dumb.

( I am fully aware of my political incorrectness. I spare the terms visually impaired and speech and hearing impaired for real disable people with all due respect. )

Getting back to the story..

The deaf and the blind meet at a pub called CS on a daily basis for socializing.

Politics is their main topic of discussion, but their disabilities have limited them in many ways to understand the true nature of politics.

The blind man shouts from one side about the stuff he read only available with braille language made available to him by Fox.

The deaf and dumb can't hear what he says. He knows only things that had sign language translations by CNN. He vigorously argues with sign language from another corner. But the blind can't see.

Rest of the pub watch and watch and watch. ( SICK AND TIRED)

Some call for the bartender to throw them out.

Some ask them to shut up.

Most have avoided the pub altogether. (This is the sad part)

The moral of this story is.... who cares.

In honour of Biff and Harbal. I hope they will be free to blog again.

If I offended anyone I am sorry to say I am not sorry. grin

Very Very disturbing....

I watched a link that Bali provided and as I watched it, I felt a cold shiver down my spine. Now, before I get deeper here let me say my knowledge in this area of the Muslim world is as close to my knowledge performing brain surgery. I've never been to the ME never knew or met a Muslim so my informtoation base as I said is severely limited.

Listening to this video created many thoughts in my mind. One of which is an area that I thought was a holy sanctum 'the Mosque' was a place to learn about their God. This video proved otherwise, it reminded me of the beginning as Hitler was assembling his army of terrorists.

I also thought that having Saudi Arabia as a USA ally was a good thing for the aid in keeping piece in the ME. I no longer think this.

As the video describes that they are promoting the s*xual intercourse of 9 year old girls and hitting them and their wifes for not wearing the proper clothing etc.....wow....just plain wow.....who would have known this is what is being taught in addition to the acts of terrorism.....

Now, like in Germany during WWII there were good Germans and bad ones. Millions of people didn't die at the hands of a few. The same thing holds true here, I guess, there are good Muslims and bad ones. But, if their teaching the young these types of uncivilized behaviors someday in the future all hell will break loose.

I will not comment here, as prior stated, my knowledge is limited and I don't have the time.....but it was quite an awakening for me, thank you Bali..

This Blog Does Not Allow Reading!

The member has chosen to disable the reading of this blog.devil

I never comment on blogs if they don’t allow comments. It is only fair to respect the wishes of the blog maker.idea In fact, I don't even bother reading them. If I cannot comment on a blog, I’m not really interested in the contents. Therefor I expect people to honor my wish by not reading this blog, but you may comment off the topic as usually.giggle

I’ve been wondering if CS won’t see it fit to give us another button to prevent the reading of a blog. I’m sure some people will use it. I can imagine that it will drive some or our members crazy to know the contents of the blog if it cannot be read.laugh

It could be a very handy feature if you want to vent an opinion that is so radical or so personal that you don’t want to splash it all over the blogs. It should not interfere with the comments in any significant way, as a large group of people doesn’t bother to read the blogs before they comment in any way. I mean, who needs a blog to comment? That is of course providing that it allows comments, but I cannot see much purpose in blocking both reading and commenting.confused

And maybe CS can give us another button on the blog list to filter out blogs that don’t allow reading and/or commenting. Then everybody can be happy. We cannot complain about what we don’t have to look at, can we? But then some people… Oh Catfoot, just shut up!foot in mouth

As an afterthought, maybe a ‘Critique’ category for blogs in that dropdown list when we post blogs. It appears to be a very popular topic at the present time.wow

Methinks if you criticize those who criticized somebody else, it makes you a hypocrite. Stealing from a thief does not make stealing noble and telling a lie to a liar does not amount to the truth. It is like adding two negative numbers. You end up deeper in the red. Two wrongs do not make a right.doh

Hmm, I think something in the previous paragraph defines me as a hypocrite as well. I have deleted it and I deny that it ever existed. But it does not matter anymore; you never saw it because this blog does not allow reading.tongue

They say that Women are More Sentimental/Emotional Than Men

Is this type of stereotyping justified and why do we think this?
Seems that we form this belief because women are more likely to show or express their emotions than men.
Dates are a huge sentimental issue for most/some women too, eg. anniversaries, important dates, birthdays and even little pieces of scrap paper with scribbles made by her kiddies a few decades ago.
Not sure if most men really use something called 'emotional expression suppression' or is it just more convenient to put it aside?
Why are some/most men the complete opposite in this phenomenon, not remembering, not being sad on certain 'important dates etc. Just plain forgetfulness?
Guys like me are constantly in deep water due to a lack of so called sentiment...

Personally speaking, I have my own set of values which might differ to most.
