The Pot Calling The Kettle Black!

Eishh! Another English idiom that leaves me perplexed. Perplexed… what a beautiful word. So… so... eh... exotic and unlike some of the words I sometimes have to listen to. I must use it more often. I hope it does not have any other hidden meanings.help

But back to the expression; yes, I know the meaning of it. It is used to describe a hypocrite – a person who is guilty of the very things of which they accuse others of, which is something else we see a lot.thumbs down

Then what is it that leaves me so baffled mystified perplexed? There! I just used it again.giggle

It is the pot dear, the pot. Just who is this conceited pot to call the kettle black? We all know a pot as something that belongs in the kitchen, but it could be many other things ranging from a jar to shooting a snooker ball into a pocket. It is even an accepted term for a potentiometer. But none of them seems to apply here.grin

Pot also has a less noble meaning. As a verb, it could refer to heavy drinking. And also, when people smoke that funny green stuff (monkey weed), they are said to be smoking pot. Both these actions are known to make people believe that they are worth more than what they really are. Could it have been a smoking pot that called the kettle black?dunno

And then you get the chamber pot. They are normally nice and white on the outside, kept out of sight, and neatly tucked under the bed. It is because of what comes out when you spill it, why it is not kosher. Could this have been the pot in question?confused

Oh, I love these idioms when one tries to find their roots.laugh

Eishh, then I still wanted to talk about hate speech and a few other things, but I fear the time is up.barf

I declare that this piece of verbal diarrhea was sucked out my thumb, and as such, entirely fictional. Any resemblance to any instance or person, dead or alive, is a pure coincidence, engineered by fate alone.devil

Grievances

Women are upset at Trump’s naughty words -- they also bought 80 million copies of 50 Shades of Gray.

Not one feminist has defended Sarah Sanders. It seems women’s rights only matter if those women are liberal.

No Border Walls. No voter ID laws. Did you figure it out yet? But wait... there's more.

Chelsea Clinton got out of college and got a job at NBC that paid $900,000 per year. Her mom flies around the country speaking out about white privilege.

And just like that, they went from being against foreign interference in our elections to allowing non-citizens to vote in our elections.

President Trump’s wall costs less than the Obamacare website. Let that sink in, America.

We are one election away from open borders, socialism, gun confiscation, and full-term abortion nationally. We are fighting evil.

They sent more troops and armament to arrest Roger Stone than they sent to defend Benghazi.

60 years ago, Venezuela was 4th on the world economic freedom index. Today, they are 179th and their citizens are dying of starvation. In only 10 years, Venezuela was destroyed by democratic socialism.

Russia donated $0.00 to the Trump campaign. Russia donated $145,600,000 to the Clinton Foundation. But Trump was the one investigated!

Nancy Pelosi invited illegal aliens to the State of the Union. President Trump Invited victims of illegal aliens to the State of the Union. Let that sink in.

A socialist is basically a communist who doesn’t have the power to take everything from their citizens at gunpoint ... Yet!

How do you walk 3000 miles across Mexico without food or support and show up at our border 100 pounds overweight and with a cellphone?

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez wants to ban cars, ban planes, give out universal income and thinks socialism works. She calls Donald Trump crazy.

Bill Clinton paid $850,000 to Paula Jones To get her to go away. I don’t remember the FBI raiding his lawyer’s office.

I wake up every day and I am grateful that Hillary Clinton is not the president of the United States of America.

The same media that told me Hillary Clinton had a 95% chance of winning now tells me Trump’s approval ratings are low.

“The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”— Margaret Thatcher

Maxine Waters opposes voter ID laws; She thinks that they are racist. You need to have a photo ID to attend her town hall meetings.

President Trump said — "They’re not after me. They’re after you. I’m just in their way."

Have a nice day!

Should 16 year old's be allowed to vote?

Nancy Pelosi is pushing for 16 years to be the legal age to vote. They've already aborted millions and millions of potential voters, and now the border wall is going to stop illegals from entering so they won't be able to vote. So where does she turn? 16 year old's.

Watch this video of a couple of teenagers and ask yourself would you be comfortable with these kids voting for the President of the United States?

Healthcare USA

As our congress once again wrestles with an attempt to create a health care system that covers Americans without excluding many and a reasonable cost. Despite it’s best attempts, Obamacare simply is falling short, particularly in means of costs, but as many Republicans are discovering, meeting the presidents objectives is not only hard, it will take a level of sacrifice that our medical community is simply not willing to bear.

As shown by a PBS survey a few years back ( ) the US is much higher than many, many countries that are able to provide comparable care for their citizens. The problem is very simple. So many lobbying groups for the industry give vast amounts to congress on both sides of the aisle in order to keep their numbers, and ultimately their profits up, up, up.

There are many explanations for “why”. While the main one is the aforementioned reason issues like Medicare & the Veterans Administration being allowed to negotiate with drug makers for more reasonable prices. Consolidation of facilities offering specialized services like CT & MRI scans as well as smaller surgical centers could drastically cut costs along with similar consolidations. And frankly, at a time when most hospitals operated at a non-profit, costs were much more reasonable; not to eliminate the lucrative practices, but to offer services to lower middle class and lower class patients that needed the services without all the frills.

Frankly, I for one would not like to see government health care, but we are fast approaching a time when this may be our only option. The industry has proven again and again they are unable to regulate themselves and the same goes for those selling medical insurance. And, of course is being exacerbated by a growing older population that requires more health care than our grandparents required or expected.

There are a few steps that could help. Making Medicare available at age 50 and giving Medicare vast authority to negotiate prices and services is possible. Requiring every doctor, as a condition of their medical license to see and treat up to 50% of all medicate patients with very stiff penalties for any that refuse. Government funding of the education of doctors and specialists to include picking up all education costs in direct exchange for a doctor owing the government “x” number of years of service with the opportunity to extend their training for added years. Much stiffer penalties for any providers of medicine, medical practice, services, etc. that refuse to honor their obligation up to and include the authority to strip them of their licenses and certifications if they violate the rules.

The idea that the medical community can police themselves was disproven years and years ago and needs to be strongly regulated by independent boards with the authority to punish those that break the rules. Of course there must be exceptions, but these should be few, far between, and require serious and verifiable evidence and not just a bunch of “opinions” by fellow doctors that expect to be shown the same kind of rubber stamp approvals.

All of this works, but only when we get back to more stringent regulations that require each person to practice good behavior in keeping up their own health with heavy doses of exercise, good eating habits, etc. And this leads to stronger requirements on foods, ingredients, etc. that go a long way toward eliminating obesity and other food related illnesses.

Like any machine, our country is only as strong as it’s weakest links and good health is one of the maximums to keeping the country strong. If the president wants to make American great again, get down to the basics and let’s solve them one at a time.

That's putting your money where your mouth is.

The little shit that shot & killed, for whatever sick & twisted reason, a much loved village Goose is about to get their comeuppance, a local resident has put a £250,000 reward to help bring the killer to justice.

Grumpy Gertie the much loved Sandon goose, who would normally be seen guarding a disused phone box, was hand reared & convinced he was a duck, often seen stopping traffic to escort ducks across the road. The phone box is now filled with flowers, letters from children and a lantern.

Writer

A well-known gentleman of our locality asked me what I am doing. I replied to him: ‘I am a writer’. When I said that he burst out laughing. A friend of mine asked me the same question: and I replied that I am writing. He burst out: ‘don’t you have anything else better to do’? My wife keeps replying to me that what I write is ‘trash’. But what is the in-thing in heart that prompts me to be a writer…character, I lack it completely…values…I am a Philistine hedonist with strange erotic fantasies that I want to fulfill…I write decolonized English, subaltern in expression and passionate and creative in vitality. Sometimes, I feel like breaking into sobs thinking that I am writing. No, no, no, I am stubborn and persistent in my will to be a writer.

Global warming

Well, there was a huge parade or gathering or
what ever you want to call it in DC today.

Nobody can deny that global warming is happening.

The issue is who is to blame. Is it human activity
caused or is it a natural phenomenon or a comb
of both.

I know that some people don't want to hear about,
or talk about this.......so go read a different blog.

Anyway, regardless of the cause or causes, this
is happening.

The tree huggers want us to save the trees. Well,
too late. 90% of the trees are gone. It'll take a
big effort, lots of $ and more than 25 years to put
a dent in replacing them.

People say stop polluting.....well, we can't. We
need steel, energy, refrigeration, and as the planet
warms, air conditioning.

With northern climes melting, untold hidden carbon
is now being released as well. That's stuff we never
factored in before.

The vegetarians want us to stop eating meat because
the animals cause too much pollution. Well that
doesn't help either. Man started eating meat because
the animals could eat the sparse grasses that we
couldn't process, but then we could eat them. That
issue still exists. And transporting salad fixins' to
those areas creates more pollution than it might
save.

It's all pretty grim and dire.

The problem is too many people wanting too much
from this little blue/green ball floating in space.

Oh, and I'm a lot like a whole bunch of other folks. By
that I mean, You will not take the food off of my plate,
nor will erode any further my ability to live my life as
I choose.

But I'm up for any constructive solution oriented input
that might be put forward.

Happy Trails scold
