Cops

Are they really that bad?

No, they are not. Most cops are actually pretty good. Don't judge them all by the actions of a few a**hole because they are not all alike. There are a**hole in every profession. Modern life wouldn't be possible without cops. Politicians may make the laws and judges determine whether your innocent or guilty but its the cops who put themselves on the front lines, taking the risks and dealing with everyday problems. If your house is being broken into, you would be happy enough to see the cops.

If you don't like cops, the next time you are in trouble, call a crack head and see how much help you get.

killings

SOOOO!
We have another massacre , this time in Oregon, last report I heard, 13 killed and 20 injured. I do hope the members of the United States Supreme (Republican) Court have big smiles on their faces, let's get them in front of a camera and snap that big grin. And let's not forget the American Rifle Association, you know, the "ISIS" of the United States.(I support indiscriminate shooting) Both groups should be hauled into court as "accessories to the fact". After all, if you were driving a car and your passenger shot and killed a person, you would be charged as an accessory.
I can imagine all of the shooters yelling at me, "I am protected by the 2nd amendment". Yes , you are, BUT , how many of you know what is in the 2nd amendment? All we ever hear about concerning the 2nd, is , I have the right to have a gun and in many cases, the right to carry. There is more than that,it states (paraphrased}, when you have the gun, you are a member of the militia. The militia has to have training, how many of you have been to camp to be trained?
Isn't it amazing that the majority of killings has been committed by young adult men, why? Could it have any connection with Daddy having to buy one of the early electronic games for baby Junior to play. And Daddy has to explain to baby, that in order to win the game, you have to kill all he bad people. Here, pay attention, Daddy will show you how to win. Zap-zap-zap - and Daddy has won, now baby , you do it. Not one word about HUMINANIZATION ws mentioned. They grow up with that and they figure that is the way to live life.
Pardon me, I need to get the news to see how many people have been murdered in Australia today !

Very Very disturbing....

I watched a link that Bali provided and as I watched it, I felt a cold shiver down my spine. Now, before I get deeper here let me say my knowledge in this area of the Muslim world is as close to my knowledge performing brain surgery. I've never been to the ME never knew or met a Muslim so my informtoation base as I said is severely limited.

Listening to this video created many thoughts in my mind. One of which is an area that I thought was a holy sanctum 'the Mosque' was a place to learn about their God. This video proved otherwise, it reminded me of the beginning as Hitler was assembling his army of terrorists.

I also thought that having Saudi Arabia as a USA ally was a good thing for the aid in keeping piece in the ME. I no longer think this.

As the video describes that they are promoting the s*xual intercourse of 9 year old girls and hitting them and their wifes for not wearing the proper clothing etc.....wow....just plain wow.....who would have known this is what is being taught in addition to the acts of terrorism.....

Now, like in Germany during WWII there were good Germans and bad ones. Millions of people didn't die at the hands of a few. The same thing holds true here, I guess, there are good Muslims and bad ones. But, if their teaching the young these types of uncivilized behaviors someday in the future all hell will break loose.

I will not comment here, as prior stated, my knowledge is limited and I don't have the time.....but it was quite an awakening for me, thank you Bali..

Law of the Land

A U.S. appeals court has struck down part of a federal law that bars the registration of offensive trademarks because doing so violates the First Amendment of the Constitution. While the court acknowledged this action could result in the registration of more hateful trademarks in the future, the right of free speech trumps all.

For you sports fans, this also means that the various legal actions against the Washington Redskins trademarked logo is now protected and all rulings to the contrary shall be overturned. The original case had to do with an Asian-American rock band called The Slants which many considered disparaging to Asian Americans and should, therefore, be banned.

In the plaintiffs argument was made a very simple, direct and accurate statement that carried the day. The front man for the Slants, Mr. Simon Tam argued “people are going to be racist whether or not they have a trademark registration”. Well said.

For many of us that remember the first president Bush, there were those golden words that he wanted “a kinder, gentler nation”. Unfortunately, these words became the boon for everything that was considered to be politically correct and marked anyone that was not as some kind of enemy of the state, corporations, and anything else that had anything to do with the importance of conduct, speech, and many more common, everyday activities. It also is credited for launching new s*xual harassment laws that were later perverted to the point that any woman could accuse any man of s*xual harassment without fear of anything happening to them; not even if they were found to have completely fabricated a complete lie, for whatever reason. And worse yet, corporations not only allowed it, but make it the basis of so many dismissals that any communication between a woman and a man became tenuous, at best.

It’s strange to look backward and see the building blocks that shape many of the decisions that affect our very lives, particularly when some of those decisions can directly impact the very laws and guarantee’s made by the countries most sacred documents, The Constitution & The Bill of Rights. Considering this, one must also wonder how such perversions, mainly out of fear, will be used against religious groups that are not currently favorites of the American people. Sadly, we have been conditioned for a very long time to always look for a scapegoat and we won’t stop until we have one. We did it to the Native Americans, the Germans, Italians, Japanese and most recently those that are of Arab decent, particularly those that proclaim their faith to be Muslin.

We Americans are too often quick to judge, and even quicker to forget. Today's Muslin is yesterdays Mexican, or Japanese and German and before that it was the negro’s and before that ….. hmmmm, I have forgotten, but you can bet it was somebody!

In this season of celebration I have noticed quite a few yard signs preaching that the season is all about Jesus. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, Muslin and every other religion spent the time to study their religion as well as their neighbors and get to know the similarities. The fact is that most religions have so many similarities that it seems only the way we celebrate them is different. But no matter which one you study, believe in, endorse and/or proclaim, there remains one very simple constant:

Love one another.

A New Day

Watching the first news conference with President Obama and Raul Castro was interesting, especially after reading all the hate comments directed toward the President. Obama certainly didn’t fold when it came to bringing up the issues of human rights, Guantanamo Bay, or political prisoners and while Castro bristled in particular to the issue of political prisoners, the two leaders were able to agree to disagree. Thus is the making of diplomatic dialog and future changes.

Interesting still was the noticeable decrease in the number of protestors in Little Havana, in Miami Florida. Events regarding Cuba used to easily draw protestors in the tens of thousands, but todays protest didn’t even bring out one hundred, thus showing that despite the rhetoric by most of our political candidates, the great majority of this country and of Cuba are welcoming this change.

Ten CEO’s of corporations were aboard Air Force One to start the task of implementing trade with the communist nation. Despite the political disagreements, Cubans are ready and wanting more trade and greater access to our technology, showing once again that an oppressive regime cannot hold the people down forever. Hopefully the Cuban government will learn to leverage their options to the advantage of both the nation as well as it’s people. Interesting enough, US News & World Report has already identified a number of great ways to invest in Cuba as it opens it’s markets. Just a few of those suggestions were related to stocks like Royal Caribbean Cruises, Marriott International, Copa Holdings, JetBlue Airways, Stonegate Bank, Teletech Holdings, and Herzfeld Caribbean Basin Fund with certainly more to come.

Some may feel this is more of a case of “keeping your friends close and your enemies closer”, which isn’t a bad philosophy in these trying times. Cuba will most certainly once again become a vacation paradise as it was before the overthrow of Batista, but the real success will be driven by the people and their expectations. Finding another revolutionary like the Castro brothers will be all but impossible, especially since that person would lack the strong communist backing that the Castro’s enjoyed with the USSR.

While I am not a fan of this President, I find myself having to grudgingly admit that in terms of facing trouble head on, he has done a pretty good job. I would have rather seen him take a stronger stance on the world stage, but part of me recognizes that in many cases he has prevented more and larger conflicts, even if his approach might have appeared to some to be weaker. While the next president may speak loud and act more aggressive, that person would be wise to pay attention to a less threatening approach and keep us out of any new wars for the sake of the nation as well as your young people.

It is often said by many that Obama is this nations worst president, even more so that Jimmy Carter; but if we take a serious look at his accomplishments and strip away all the political rhetoric, we are reminded that he took office in the worst of times. While not perfect, he did make a lot of good moves that prevented us from sinking into worse financial failure than we could have. His one great failing, Obamacare, will be forever held against him, but not for it’s intent, more for it’s execution where the nation learned there can be no cheap healthcare system and forcing people to buy something they don’t want never earns a positive mark from a nation that cherishes it’s freedom’s and the right to choose.

In the case of Cuba, it simply a master stroke. Turning a long standing enemy (90 years) into a possible future friend is exactly what diplomacy is all about and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear at least one presidential candidate try to take credit for it in their upcoming campaign ……

Mom asked me why don't I like friends...

That was an unexpected question. I've lived with my mother for 25 years and I would have expected her to know me by now. To have studied and learnt me. Yet she asks me why don't I like Having friends?
Who doesn't like having friends?
People to confind in, people who get you, want to get you want to support you, be in your corner.
It's not that I don't want friends. I want them. I don't ask for many. Just two or three. Perhaps I haven't been cool enough, this enough that enough. And have learnt not to impose myself. But be myself in the hopes that one soul or two will gravitate towards me. So the answer is; I do like friends maybe I just haven't met the one. Or I'm learning to be a friend and once that character has been defined in me, the friends will come.
I hope its not too late for me. To have a fairytale image of how a friendship should be.
