"It’s no secret that President Donald Trump loves dictators. Over the course of his presidency, Trump has expressed admiration for a slew of authoritarians, from Russian President Vladimir Putin to President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The latest to receive such praise is Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In closed-door remarks to Republicans on Saturday, Trump celebrated Xi for his recent consolidation of power and for getting rid of presidential term limits, according to CNN, which obtained a recording of the meeting."

The phrase "everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes" is credited to either Andy Warhohl or his photographer, Nat Finkelstein (1966 or 1968). Whoever said it first, it has indeed turned out to be true when it comes to persons who are suddenly slingshot into a media firestorm for one reason or another. Soon enough, our twenty-four-hour news cycle moves on to the next cultural or political phenomenon, whether it is legitimate or entirely fake.

We forget these people the minute they disappear from our television or internet screens. We will quickly forget Stormy Daniels and David Hogg, too, and the sooner, the better. Let the next firestorm begin! This one began to stink a few weeks ago.

The left in America increasingly swaddles itself in bubble wrap. They, these progressives, do not intend to let the values of mainstream Americans interfere with their agenda to transform our nation. When an event like the school shooting in Parkland occurs, they are quick to leap into action. They know within minutes whom to blame, whom to catapult into the media spotlight, where to get the money to fund whatever campaign they spring into action to mount. Like the devout students of Saul Alinsky they are, they know how to capitalize on a crime and misery.

Clearly, the leftist media believed that as the Russia collusion meme fell apart, they could take Trump out with a porn star. Is she really a star? Who knows? No one cares except the powers that be at CNN. The Access Hollywood tape from years ago did not hurt Trump one bit, but somehow, in their dreams, a one-night stand twelve years ago with the porn actress will do the trick.

Cloward and Pivens were married sociology professors and political activists who devised this strategy in 1966 at Columbia University where they taught. Basically this is a liberal attempt to bring down capitalism in the US by overloading the welfare system. The original goal was to establish a universal income for all which was supposed to eliminate poverty. The pursuit of this strategy has given us the rise of community organizers like Obama. I would assume the left's love for open borders and massive immigration from third world countries is an attempt to speed up the process. It seems to me like they are succeeding in their attempts to bring anarchy, but I believe there will be unintended consequences which they have not thought through. Last night, while everybody was celebrating Valentine’s Day, we received the biggest Valentine’s gift we could ask for. Under immense pressure Jacob Zuma resigned as president of South Africa.

At about 10 PM former president Jacob Zuma addressed the nation, at least the part who was near TV sets, to announce his resignation. In a national television address, Zuma said he had "come to the decision to resign as president of the Republic with immediate effect".

This is rich. He decided to abdicate! He had no choice. He was facing impeachment and a forceful eviction. At least he sort of admitted to that when he said "I have only asked my party to articulate my transgressions and the reason for its immediate instruction that I vacate office." I would have expected that he would know this; the press is full of it. Oh yes, I forgot He had no formal schooling, so reading may be a bit of an obstacle.

In an earlier TV interview on the same day, he said he had received "very unfair" treatment from the party he joined in 1959 and for which he had fought for decades against apartheid. Well, at least this part was more or less true although I don't know if it was unfair

He further expressed his anger over "the manner in which the decision is being implemented... I don't agree as there is no evidence of if I have done anything wrong." Now this is priceless; no evidence. He has a dossier that will put Encyclopaedia Britannica to shame.

There are no jubilations in the streets as was the case in Zimbabwe but we are holding our breaths in quiet optimism. We are not expecting miracles overnight but rather hope that our new president will improve our image and restore some credibility overseas.

And we are speculating about the future of Jacob Zuma. Just like Mugabe, he also tried to get his wife (one of the six) in power to protect him. Will he now, at last, be held accountable for his deeds in the past? We don’t know but if the new president and The ANC won’t interfere, he is going to have big problems. Cyril Ramaphosa has no love for Jacob Zuma but we don’t know what they may be up to in order to preserve unity within the ANC.

All in all, everybody appears to be fairly happy with getting Ramaphosa as our leader and we’re all hoping that he will live up to expectations.

I heard Sen. Flake's speech this morning and I was astounded, he is an old fashioned Republican, he doesn't hide behind lies which are so prevalent now days , he tells it like it is. I would rate his speech along side of
FDR's Pearl Harbor address and Lincoln's Gettysburg address. I would vote any day of the week for Sen. Flake
- and I am a Democrat. When I vote , I vote as an American, the party doesn't tell me how to vote. I believe it is idiotic for a voter - Democrat or Republican - to say , "I have to vote for him/her because they are a member of my party". Neither party has all the answers. Too many voters do not study the candidates, rather they listen to what the candidates spew when running for office. Two parties need to discuss what is necessary for the benefit of our nation and not have the attitude of "It's our way , or no way". studecar

This means a lot for the people of a country who's leader vowed to work on making America First and great again.

He owned the moment. I was so touched and I am sure most Americans have felt the same.

The monumental success he has achieved for so short a time, he is one heck of a great president. In spite of the display of contempt from his pundits, he continues to lead this nation towards greatness as promised.

In my opinion, building the wall for 10 billion is a cheap change compared to the 110 billion of supporting illegal immigrants.

The most effective change he has initiated is that the WORKING citizens are finally bringing more money in their paychecks as a result of tax changes. While I am already receiving my SS as a result of working over 35 years, I am still working for a more financially secured future. This means a lot to me.

Thank you Mr. President for encouraging on bringing back some of the outsourced jobs to this country. Imagine Chrysler to be coming back here from Mexico, that is a very positive move for our economy.

His love and respect for our aging Veterans by hiring more people that provide care they deserve is another big highlight of the speech.

Having been involved in the humanitarian field, this is the closest one to my heart. His commitment to continue on donating to the poor countries of the world. More than any leaders of any nation has done in the history of man. This to me tops all of his success in building a great nation.

His use of scatological terms, especially when referring to non whites, may expend his base, but is unnecessary and unhelpful. He should simply say that immigration policies should reflect workforce needs primarily, and other factors much less. He's quite capable of such talk, but often gets taken up in moments, especially if the venue engenders emotional issues close to his heart, and deep love for the USA. Biased media and liberal pols now have learned this, and can push buttons, to their perceived benefit. V-A.

American Chop Suey or Cold War Stockings are political idioms. I have used American Chop Suey in my earlier article and now I am coining another term: Cold War Stockings. It refers to a situation where a strong country goes to aid a weak country besieged by civil and religious conflict. Then without ending the conflict, it abruptly pulls out. An example is: American pullout from Iraq. Now the Russians are following the same road. They have pulled out from Syria leaving the country to succumb to a tragic Jihadic fate. The departure of Russia’s military intervention in Syria is reminiscent of Cold War Stockings. Cold War stockings break Syrian democracy into a broken glass and fertilize the growth of a fanatic Islamic State.
