Awkward

Boss is being cool. I’m being invisible. I’m embarrassed that I was friendly after he clearly was disappointed about my age. A saving grace. Loolllol. So now I try to avoid unless I have a work question. It’s a tough spot. Regardless, I will be successful, my way of giving the finger.

the holiday gas price gouge...

Gas prices in Florida have been fluctuating 5 +/- cents as a normal. They went down toward the end of June and shot up 21 cents on the first of July.
That could be the most significant change I've seen in a while. If I recall correctly, it was after a hurricane where flooding knocked out some refineries along the Gulf coast and gas prices jumped.
Depending on the neighborhood, we are around $2.75 to $3.00 a gallon.

Flyboys

I realize now that I take life as a social experiment. People fascinate me. The dynamics of the work place never proves boring.

I started working as a car salesperson. Everyone is called “buddy” even me. Lol. I hear it so much that I now say it, even to my pets. “Hey, Oskar buddy, how are you?” It sort of takes the gender issue away.

I am the only female in sales. When someone addresses us as boys or gentleman, I am quick to add “and lady”. I feel like I am a part of a band of brothers. This makes me understand that I like men. They’re not so bad. I like having bros.

The cool thing is feeling like an equal. I never was militant about women’s rights but I love that these bros have to admit that I’m holding my own in this depressed car sales times.

I’m not aggressive in my tactics. I am simply myself and have had a pretty good start, considering...after all, I’m the only salesperson to get tips. Nice tips.

Now I am learning the language. There is one. It’s so foreign. Like another planet with spinning paper and lay downs, blow outs, etc. Just learning the lingo keeps me interested. Am I bilingual? At the end if a shift, I think I am. I just need to practice the language of auto sales.

Used car prices...

COVID hit and car buying changed. New cars were in short supply with no new inventory to replenish stock. Used car prices shot up where cars coming off a 3-year lease are selling for the same price is new.
One day I'm reading that's all going to change and another day I'm reading this inflated car prices isn't going away anytime soon.
I'm getting messages from the dealer where I bought a few years ago... they want to buy back my car. I'm just out of warrantee and have been toying with the idea of something slightly larger. In doing so, I'll miss having a car that gets around 35 miles per gallon.

I keep shopping, but nothing interesting has jumped out to get my attention...

Marmalade

I am your Marmalade
A little sweet and a little tart
I am your little tart
Marmalade

I slip under your covers
While you sleep
Nuzzle close
Will you dream of me?

On sleepless nights
I will bring you dreams
In my mouth, I will bring them
Would you wake and take them?

I am your Marmalade
A little sweet and a little tart
I am your little tart
Marmalade

Heels

On the heels of jeopardy
Let it not bite
As little dogs whine at turned toes
Upon cigarettes, lit
And sorry cries from jowls on high
Bring tears from bowel afire
Sweet love’s desire
Fan the fires
Of makeshift forts filled with love’s
Desire
On empty fields, spread wild flowers
Take one breath, traded by the hour
To fill empty rows with blossoms, bloom
Take my heart and join with your
Tomb

Beach comber

Come with me to the beach
Comb sands and comb me
I am your sandy shore
With shells
Shall you see me?
On windy shores
My hair sweeps toward fingers
Ready to part my waves
Pull me to you
My blonde locks ready to
Unlock dreams from distant
Ocean's
Waves, of blonde
Spend hours combing my hair
You'd make me drift
Heavy lids draw you within
As your fingers pull my heart strings
Comb my hair on a sandy beach

Engineer Mountain

Iron shoes tap into the
Trailhead
At the base of Engineer Mountain
I looked up, daunted
My mare, confident
Together we crossed meadows
Through raining Aspen leaves
Taking rest by a trout's creek

My girl's mouth worked the bit
While I leaned towards a granite face
Prepared to launch vertical
Towards heaven, my heart, still far below
We climbed
It felt as if I rode the ocean's waves
My body tossed higher and higher
With every lunge

I dared not look down
As my horse did have wings
We touched hanging clouds that once
Moved steadily above me
Together, a beast carried me with
Courage
Beyond the tree line
Into the sky
On Engineer Mountain my mare did fly

Mind

My eyes fixate on hazel gems
That crown a smile, broad and tender
With words that warrant a
Return to sender
Consideration for an invitation to my
Chamber

Welcome to my eccentric dwelling
To my taste would you be willing?
Have a seat and use those eyes
And view my collage of images and words
Nothing bland in this world of mine
Once you have visited my mind

Part

I took him inside of me
Willingly
And now he will always be a part of me

Nothing grew except an experience
Willingly
And now that will always be a part of me

I don't know if I wish for
Amnesia or old memories
For the part that will always be a part of me

moon

he is like a succulent fruit
irrigating furrows of dusty plains
that once gushed greenery thick and rich
my eyes tear up at the memories of
ravenous meals made of moans and squeals
sweet meats of yore
filling more than bellies
i cried out for the stars
mapping big dippers and f*ck whippers
the lot not enough
as if my void was limitless
like the sky
and if i could be his constellation
i would capture his Milkyway with spoons
cast by greedy hands
and bathe my flesh with warm white happiness
spilled from his generous fountain
illuminated by the moon's smile upon ripe
pore's open mouths
hungering for a sip of heaven

blanket

let me be your blanket
i will cover you and keep you warm
i will wrap myself around you
become your layer of skin
and i will feel your heart's loving song
sing to me
let us share our bodies
and turn lonely shivers into
warm embraces while gazing at
long lost faces
listening to beloved voices
speaking words of love
in your bed
i will be your blanket

Cars that fly...

The concept of a flying car isn't new. Every wannabe inventor dreams of building one. Popular Mechanics magazine has been writing stories about them dating back to the 1950's but those were full sized vehicles with gasoline engines and huge wings to give them sufficient lift.

In the last 10 years, I've seen the 'winged' versions disappear and the multi propeller electric 'drone style' high lift vehicles show up on technical and aviation news.

A Chinese company had a 2-seater with 4 sets of dual counter-rotating propellers. The problem was the propellers were at knee level without any protective shroud. that idea 'didn't get off the ground' as it failed in safety.

Why is this talking so long?
A few things I can think of.
Cost.
All the wing style vehicles need a runway.
The idea of being stuck in traffic and unfolding the wing to take off won't happen as aircraft need to have a flight plan, start and land st an airport to be on their radar.
FAA certification of the aircraft and one important detail is YOU MUST BE A LICENSED PILOT.

This year is a new flavor... it's a car with a framework like a wall fan and lots of rotors that give it lift. $300,000 for pre-orders. The first of it's kind to have the go ahead of the FAA. Delivery of this flying car is estimated to be a few years away.

I like this video showing DOZENS of these cars flying in unison like they are on their way to work!

i'm good for incense

i'm really enjoying the variety in incense. trying new things is something i love to do. my favorite are white sage and opium but i will try the musk later today.

i like a spicy, wood, leather type scent. the earthiness is settling to me. on occasion, when it's hot, i like a green, citrus or floral scent.

it's cooling off so i'll be burning the cozy spices for the next 6-7 months.

Heavy Load...

On the way to an appointment today I found myself behind a glass company delivery truck. Most of the smaller companies have a rack attached to the driver's side where they strap down their orders for delivery/installation.
After many years, the suspension on these vehicles wears down on the side that carries all the weight and they lean to the driver's side.
The truck was dangerously overloaded and pulling toward the left. The driver was making corrections and swerving back and forth. At one point I thought it would tip over and drop the load. I kept my distance worrying that the shattered glass would be in my path.
It was a 2 lane road and I followed for a few miles waiting for a break. The driver slowed to a crawl preparing to get into the turn lane giving me a chance to change lanes and get in front!
Phew... heavy load.

A Plain New Tesla

My AT friend bought a new tesla years ago and waited over a year for the Tesla dealership to get it in. By the time her new car arrived that same car was selling for a heck of a lot more than she paid for it. It was a fancy car with all the bells and whistles with much of it is controlled by the phone. Only the back doors go up in the air over the car roof when you open them. I live on the east coast and she moved to the west coast without any problems. Starbuck has charging stations everywhere plus the car tells you where the charging stations are.

My ex came into town a few weeks ago, took me out to lunch to tell me he is looking to buy a Tesla but he wanted to check out another brand of electric car first. It was great seeing him which I got to do because the Tesla dealership is just a few blocks from my home.

The ex came to town the other day, called and said he wanted to take me to lunch again. I was okay with that so he came with a friend who drove him down from Ocala and they picked my up in his new Tesla. He got the very basic model which only has a huge computer monitor screen in the middle with no other buttons or switches anywhere. No "Oh shit" handle, no radio (You play it through the phone) virtually nothing but a huge flat dashboard. In the restaurant he was looking at how to start the AC in the hot FLORIDA car from inside while we ate. When we left we stood outside the car while he tried to figure out how to open the door. A comedy moment.

Last night we were talking and after all the research that man did before buying that $40,000 car was what happened to his insurance rates. He was told they would go up a little but the lowest quote so far is $2,000 every six months. $4,000 a year is an extremely harsh toke. What a blindside.

Switchblade: A flying car...

I'm cleaning up bookmarks and came across a story about an electric car with airplane capabilities. The story said it's 14 years in the making and going through it's next series of tests. In July, the FAA determined it was safe for flight testing.

Expected to retail for $170,000 when it hits the market and the reserve list is up to 1,600. A deposit of $2,000 is due within 45 days after the first vehicle takes flight.

I've seen lots of 'Popular Mechanics' reviews of flying cars... dating back to when I was a kid. I'm skeptical as I cannot recall any makers who have viable aircraft for sale.

Always reading the comments, I found some interesting details, like requiring a pilots license, insurance for both a car and airplane, needing expensive safety avionics not mentioned in the story, only able to fly in or out of FAA certified airports, only certified A&P mechanics are allowed to work on the vehicle. Not one comment I read had anything positive to say about the Switchblade.

Big on hype, bigger on B.S.

Since you can only take off and land from an airport, the dream of flying out of snarled traffic isn't going to happen.
Maybe the prototype will get used in the next Mad Max movie!
