online

of days of wonderment, hardly felt
of nights of fulfillment hardly felt
of weeks of wanting, never held
of arms empty, when words are shallow
and thoughts are less than what holds
when life is hard but lovers aren't
and the road is long but the message is short
if relationships could cover miles when notes could not
when gaps are closed with eyes wide open
this is the state of online love

Glorious

He is a glorious man, if a mortal man could be
Of blood, flesh and bone, alive
He joins me with fluid physical energy

I look into eyes, as if they are a place of security
As he takes me on unbroken trail
He pushes, my limits unlimited, open range

Urges acknowledged with the delivery of a kiss
He becomes the sky, I am the earth
His sun pinks my skin, his moon stirs waters, raining

His sent is warm and green, like that of dew on a morning leaf
I close my eyes while joined, tasting and feeling his nature
On unbroken trails, he takes me

Rationing smokes

And cranky about tomorrow has dramatically shortened my fuse. My usual forgiveness of the ignorant, evaporated tonight. 4 days to payday. The simple pleasures, not even taken for granted, of a strong cigarette is painfully missed.

Stuff

You remind me of what I’m trying to forget
Though genuine care f*ck over my imagination
I toss my mane and squeal

On darkest of nights, the Illuminati of all pretenses
Bury your head into my chest, allow me to inhale the scent of the wild

Move Over Law...

Florida's Move Over Law aka Right-of-way traffic law, got tougher in 2024. Basically, it was designed for safety of police and first responders who have their emergency flashers on when stopped or parked on a highway shoulder.
On a multi-lane highway, you are required to 'move over' a lane giving safe clearance. For example, an officer opens his car door and steps out and he's right at the edge of the travel lane.

The law changed this year to include ANY vehicle with flashers on. This includes stranded vehicles. Maybe you've seen someone who is on the side of the road, crouched down changing a flat tire only a few feet from the roadway... they have no chance of safety. With the car jacked up and a truck flying by at 65mph there is enough wind force that could easily knock the stand off the car. The same thing for a tow truck who may be backing at a slight angle to hookup and be close to the edge of a travel lane.

Sometimes, it's not possible to move over with adjacent travel. People are too aggressive to allow someone access to their lane and not responsive to the law. In that case you're required to SLOW DOWN at least 20 mph below the posted limit.

Yeah, it's the law, but I rarely see people moving over.

Spartacus Hubcaps...

I was a kid when the movie Ben-Hur came to theaters. 1959 to be exact. One scene was the Chariot Race and if you were like me... you were hanging on the EDGE OF YOUR SEAT!!
The scary part was Messala, the bad guy who had a chariot equipped with a sharp pointy wheel axle that would break the spokes of the chariot driven by Judah Ben-Hur (actor Charlton Heston) and her was nearly victorious, but Ben-Hur out maneuvered Messala and won the race.
Note: I knew Messala was the bad guy because he had a team of black horses!

Anyway a few thousand years later, we've got our own chariot drivers with sharp pointy wheel hubcaps. I refer to them as Spartacus hubcaps. Judge for yourself...

road rage ...

as a professional driver for many years , and having seen the good and bad drivers , with or more likely with out licences ,
i have not encountered road rage in person , yes i have had people honk their horns because they are impatient , especially if it is a dual carriage way and i need to over take a slower truck , and i am holding them up for what ever it is that they did not leave in good time to get to where they need to be ,
driving any vehicle should be a relaxed and enjoyable experience shared by all ,,
road rage takes away that experience and i should imagine adds to stress and anger and in some cases people actually try to cause harm or injury to anyone that gets in their way,,prime examples of this are brake checking other vehicles which is extremely dangerous not only to the car that is being brake checked ,but also to other road users , then you have the people who totally lose the plot and try to ram the other driver off the road grrrrr these are the pyschos who should not be in any sort of vehicle ,
then you have the people who vent their anger by throwing objects at other vehicles as they are driving ,,
and all this goes on in every day life ,24 ,,7 .. the roads are becoming like a fair ground ride , like the bumper cars or dodgems as some people know them,
i have personally been slowed down by cars as the road comes to a incline ,and they obviously know that a truck can not just pick up speed like a car , so it is like they get a kick out of making your journey a tad harder ,,
but i have never been brake checked and being totally honest if it had happened then i would not have braked hard and put others in danger ,so the vehicle that brake checked me would have truly known about it ,,
ah you may say that this would amount to road rage ,,nope not at all this would amount to self preservation ,
in the balkan countries and also russia cars that brake check trucks get rammed of the road ,,,the reason being truck hijacking was a serious problem in these countries for many years ,and in some cases still is , hence the truckers take no chances what so ever ,,
eastern european truckers all carry cb radios and are constantly looking after each other and will help out any one stuck beside the road with in reason of course ,,,
happy driving folks and if a hot head honks his or her horn then just smile to yourself and think it is better to have that nutter in front of me rather than behind me ,,,,

The smell of car tires...

Flashback to the winter of 1970 and I was in a band performing at a nightclub in Daytona Beach. The gig was a week long and the management provided us a small apartment to stay at.
It was a two story building, living quarters on top and a business on the ground floor.
We were told it once was funeral home. The owner and his family occupied the apartment above.
Inside the kitchen hall was a small door in the wall that had a shelf connected by a chain that could be raised or lowered between the 2 floors. Commonly called a dumbwaiter, the access was blocked off since the apartment was no longer connected to the business below. Possibly the intent was the send food from the kitchen down and not used as a trash chute.
The business below us was a tire store and the aroma of tires leaked into the ductwork via the access door. It was a really unusual smell. Something I haven't forgotten, especially connected with a musical career at the time. As a high mileage car owner, I'm buying or getting tires serviced every few months and when I smell tires, I remember the first experience from the tire store/funeral parlor.
Yesterday, was no different. The weather in the 60's and I'm out running errands. On my list was to get my car serviced and one tire patched that had a slow leak from a nail.
Always in a hurry, I neglected tire rotation (possibly a few times) and the service adviser mention the 2 rear tires were good but the 2 front tires were down to the the wear indicators... one of those tires had a nail too close to the edge and unable to be patched.
time for new tires... I decided on 4 and not 2 as the rear tires had developed and oscillation that I recognize from previous experience. they work, but have some road noise. They still have some life to them... and no nails, so I packed them in the hatchback and will schlep them to Miami today. I'll decide if I want to keep them or give to my neighbor as his car uses the same size tire.

Expecting my car to be filled with the smell of tires, I'll head out with the windows down enjoying a Florida winter with temperatures in the 60's

yay

Meet the Hennessey Goliath 6X6. A badass truck from Texan tuner Hennessey Performance. Based on a 2019 / 2020 Chevrolet Silverado truck, the GOLIATH 6X6 takes the already very capable Chevy 4X4 truck and elevates its off-road capabilities to another level. (Hennessey's words, not mine). But what makes this truck so boss? Here are the upgrade list:

6X6 Conversion with additional axle, wheels, tires and brakes
All new rear suspension system
Eight-inch lift kit
Custom 6X6 truck bed
Hennessey 20-inch wheels
BFG 37-inch off-road tires
GOLIATH 6X6 & HENNESSEY graphics
Rollbar upgrade
LED lights
Hennessey front and rear bumpers
450 bhp engine upgrade (cold air intake and stainless steel exhaust upgrade)
3 year / 36,000 mile warranty

Upgrades are available, if you didn't think this was mad enough. The upgrades are: stroker motor upgrade, Brembo brake system upgrade and custom interior upgrade. Sadly, the production is/was limited to just 24 trucks, so there is a good chance all of them would have been sold already.

In total, this badass boss of a truck packs 800 horsepower, and it's just the single most awesome and BOSS thing ever! The price? Oh, well.. It's $375K, but that includes the truck. I guess you could buy the upgrade kit and make it the biggest DIY job ever, but.. You need access to highly trained specialists, since you need to fit an entire axle on the truck, so it is best to leave it to the pros on this one.

But come on - you cannot deny that this truck is seriously BOSS!
