I never said you made those points, but as far back as I can remember it has been drilled into my head that Columbus found America. The question I posed was how can something be found that was not indeed lost. When you are elibile to be accepted into the school that I was, you discover things. Things such as you can't find what's not been lost.
That's part of my point Jenea-that not all the tribes were abused or 'stolen' from. The Quakers in Penna. paid for much of the land they settled, and/or made treaties. There are also tribes who fought with U.S. cavalry to defeat other tribes, who were their mortal enemies for generations. It isn't as clear cut an issue as some leftist professors make it out to be. I am neither republican or democrat so I could care less about any side. I'm not speaking of hard facts so much, but how they are interpreted and used politically. As I said earlier, there was far more gray area to the discovery of this country than what you MAY have been taught. I am neither republicrat or democan either, but I am a conservative. American Indians (the name that most prefer to be called by) are also free to leave their reservations. Actually they don't want to be called American Indians. They whish to be calle dby their tribe whether it be Sioux, Cherokee, or whatever. There was just "First Americans" festival here and I attended.
