He was 71, lived a glorious life and will be remembered for that. Speaking of death:

Jenea: That is debatable, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and go with the range that you gave of 100,000 - 1.3 million. Those are horrifying numbers and there is nothing moral about this war.
The low range is from the IBC, and the high range is from the Lancet study.

Jenea: I'm sorry but when you go into someones home and kill them or drive them away and then decide to take what they have as your own, that's called stealing. I never said you made those points, but as far back as I can remember it has been drilled into my head that Columbus found America. The question I posed was how can something be found that was not indeed lost. When you are elibile to be accepted into the school that I was, you discover things. Things such as you can't find what's not been lost.
That's part of my point Jenea-that not all the tribes were abused or 'stolen' from. The Quakers in Penna. paid for much of the land they settled, and/or made treaties. There are also tribes who fought with U.S. cavalry to defeat other tribes, who were their mortal enemies for generations. It isn't as clear cut an issue as some leftist professors make it out to be. Discovery can be made by reading a book, attending a lecture, conversing. Colleges are full of bias as well-contrary to some people's perceptions.

wixomwizard: There is a simple fact of life that I think a lot of people miss and that is, "You can't gain more KNOWLEDGE, if you keep shutting the door to it's access." imo
As the Jesuits say..."so much knowledge, so little wisdom"...

Yeah, and I've looked at a few indpendent studies as well. The fact of the matter is that those are horrifying numbers. No matter which is correct. Not to mention the numbers for our troops.

I'm curious as to why you always have to turn everything into the left or the right. You are starting to sound like a knock off Ann Coulter. I am neither republican or democrat so I could care less about any side. Anyhow, to discover something is to to see, get knowledge of, learn of, find, or find out; gain sight or knowledge of something previously unseen or unknown. This land was seen and known about by the Native Americans who unfortunately are living on freaking reservations as we speak due to massacre.

Much of what you profess in opinions leans to the left side of political discourse. It is also what is taught as a sort of faith in most colleges. I'm not speaking of hard facts so much, but how they are interpreted and used politically. As I said earlier, there was far more gray area to the discovery of this country than what you MAY have been taught. I am neither republicrat or democan either, but I am a conservative. American Indians (the name that most prefer to be called by) are also free to leave their reservations. There is no doubt that the U.S. government broke many treaties, and deserves scorn for doing so.

Actually they don't want to be called American Indians. They whish to be calle dby their tribe whether it be Sioux, Cherokee, or whatever. There was just "First Americans" festival here and I attended.

BebeII: OOOH-Nothing so ungracious in this world as someone who can't accept an apology-or three!

Am I required to be gracious? DO I NEED TO TOLERATE CONDESCENSION?

No, to both questions.

It would make a big difference toward accepting your apology if you were sincere about it. But you're not, and your superior attitude remains.

So wherein all this is my motivation to accept your apology and have reasoned dialogue? It's not that I can't accept an apology, or three. Its that you can't really make one.

Where does that leave us? Nowhere. You in your ivory tower, so much better than me, and me, wandering the world, trying so hard to rise to the level of mere human. roll eyes doh

Okay. Enough of this. I'm wasting my time (AGAIN) talking to you. On to better things, like vacuuming and laundry. Nothing glamorous, I know, but way more fulfilling.

Bohdi, Yes, I have a nasty way of writing, and I'm working on it, but I DON'T think of myself as superior to you or anyone else. I get exasperated by certain repeating IDEA'S and spout off the wrong way. I'm Sorry about that. Your a good man, and I hope to be able to chat with you respectfully from now on. However, you owe me an apology for calling me an a**hole....laugh Besides, I see you play the guitar, do you like Neil Young by any chance?
