BebeII: The majority of Christians are hypocrites now? Get real Jenea-America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and over 80% of the population professes to be Christian-they are the MAJORITY.
Not just now, for a long time. People murdering in the name of GOD when it clearly states not to murder. I know the priniples this country was "stolen" on, however that was a long time ago. In 2009 the majority of christians are hypocrites. I myself am a christian. I like to call myself a stuggling christains because there are times when I falter. I'm aware of what people profess themselves to be, however, it doesn't mean that they follow the word accurately.
wixomwizard: Spoken like a real "MAN" from 1,000 miles away. Those kind of comments would only earn you another shoe up your backside and a slap upside your head (corporal punishment).
the_guy: Really??? this country is based on christian values?? Please read this article for the sake of educating yourself. Here is a little piece of this article, read the rest on your own. BUT PLEASE READ IT:
If indeed our Framers had aimed to found a Christian republic, it would seem highly unlikely that they would have forgotten to leave out their Christian intentions in the Supreme law of the land. In fact, nowhere in the Constitution do we have a single mention of Christianity, God, Jesus, or any Supreme Being. There occurs only two references to religion and they both use exclusionary wording. The 1st Amendment's says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. . ." and in Article VI, Section 3, ". . . no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."
Thomas Jefferson interpreted the 1st Amendment in his famous letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in January 1, 1802:
"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State."
I don't know exactly where and what BebeII was referring to because she often or always does not support her stances with facts and research.
With that said, if she somehow was referring to how the Puritans influenced America's religous and political landscape dating back to when the Pilgrims arrived, then maybe she was actually right for once? lol
"James A. Morone suggests that some opposing tendencies within Puritanism—its desire to create a just society and its moral fervor in bringing about that just society, which sometimes created paranoia and intolerance for other views—are at the root of America's current political landscape."
StressFree: I've posted the evidence with data that was researched. I don't recall you ever confirming your opinions with research and facts.
If you want more respect, you're gonna have to work harder for it and add sharp teeth to your outdated opinions.
Sorry sunshine...
I can also post 'articles" all day-doing so doesn't add up to a hill of beans as to what most people really think. You have no clue as to my world-view, you only think you do. Again, assume nothing.

No really? That's why it's a struggle for all people. If you think this country was stolen, then why do you live here? Aren't you then a part of the system that stole it?

AGAIN, you miss the point. The country was settled by Christians-not muslims, not hindu's, not buddhist's, not shinto's, etc. Our laws reflect this, and not the laws of the before mentioned religions.
