Plenty of foreign players in major league baseball.
In any case, good point. The real world series is the Baseball Classic now---and Japan owns! Japan plays the team game soundly.

It's hard to speculate who will be the next imperial power.
Depends on the alliances.
If I were to wager on this, I'd wager on the EU-America alliance (maybe some kind of new exotic Republic with hopes of ruling the planet and draining our natural resources) in the future to offset your original suggestion.

The only other major league is in Canada (inferior product and more of a farm system to the NFL). There was an American football league in Europe, but that turned out to be a train wreck.
But yes, very similar in that sense rizlared. And please don't ask my why it's called football since they don't really use their feet like in fotbol...
