I am on another dating site. There are a few women who write me and send me flowers regularly (basically everyday). I know they have no intention of ever meeting me. But they want the contact, and they appreciate and desire the flattery and flowers from me. It's almost like a ritual. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of us have online relationships that will never be consummated, but we keep them in our hearts, even though we know that anything more is simply impossible for reasons of geography, other relationships, situation, health, etc...In other words, we need the flame of hope inside us, even if it is we ourselves who we are fooling.

I prefer meeting them; it's not that hard if you really make the effort.

Well, what I mean is, sometimes we know that we will never meet this person, but we continue with an online romance, pretending that someday you will. It is a charade that two play, because to believe in a fantasy sometimes is easier than to live with reality. sigh

No...so sorry, but I cannot in this instance agree with you.

.I think anything is possible...Just think about how far technology has come... gosh, and how we use this technology as a tool to do all sorts of things... and meet people too..

The people that we meet on line just chatting to can lead to friendships... its a heck of a good start... better than watching paint dry on a wall... wave

You're thinking in the box. Expand it a little. There are many variations on the theme. Let's take for instance, a bed-ridden women, or a man with terminal cancer...or a woman in a marriage that is irreconcileably broken down...but she must stay for the kids, or whatever....there are lots of possible situations.

sad flower Odysseus, you're a great guy, and these posts of yours have made me sad. Having been involved in two online relationships here that proved to go nowhere and broke off for that reason, I now stick to serious correspondence locally only. Anything long distance is friendship only for me, for I know that an LDR isn't practical for someone like me. I hope some day you find the right one and get to meet her in person, and find true romantic happiness. hug
