I agree that if a mosque is allowed to be built, that it should have some type of statement on it that denounces the act of 9/11 as not of Islam. And maybe a statement that states that Islam repects all religious institutions and strives to live in harmony with them.
deadbutwhy: Yes, muslims have made churches into mosques, and on the other hand, christians, jews, hindus etc. have destroyed mosques. Many times in history. Just do a google search.

So all religious places being built should have some kind of "I'm sorry that some idiots that claim to follow XXXXX did bad things" ........brilliant
Even to mention such is wrong......damn near a hate crime.

No just religion that operate as 'government in absentia' should be met with different rule and regulation. What is a "government in absentia", you ask?
The 5 characters of a government are the following:
They have a military force They have a court system They have a leader or figurehead leader They have a elected body or a group of advisors. The collection of Taxes
Let me see....
The Revolutionary Guard...a military force sworn to the Supreme Leader Khatanie The Qom Courts......a Sharia Law court that decides ruling on the world's 388m Shia Supreme Leader Khatanie....a leader of both the country of Iran and the Shia Islamic sect The Guardian Assembly.....a group of Mullahs advisors for the Supreme Leader. The Shia is required to pay 1/10th tithe of his income to the Supreme Leader
All five characters of a government are met. Just that Supreme Leader Khatanie rule in absentia from Tehran over this diverse group of Shia that are in a 100 country. But we have seen many absentia government in the past.
Still a religion or a in reality a government absentia?
Since we have taken this personal, which I will ignore.
Consider the following:
The President of your Church Assembly did not validate the election results between Obama and McCain in 2008.The Supreme Leader Khatanie validated the election results between Mousavi and Ahmendinejada. When he did, he acted in a political function.
The Roman Catholic church has several 100 Swiss Gaurd with pikes to guard the Vatican. My Bapbtist church does not have a military.
Khatanie's 120,000 strong Revolutionary Guard has missiles that will reach Europe. The Revolutionary Guard has also fought in a nation state war (Iran and Iraq). It was the Revolutaionary Guard that was sent to Lebanon to rebuild the resistance following Arafats defeat there. And it was the Revolutionary Guard that recently did multi billion dollar deal to sent up a internation communication network and runs 100s of businesses around the world.
Some how that is only to worldly for my taste in spirituality. Seem very much like a government to me. But what do I know? I only have a degree in political science.
Few religions have commercial codes. They tend to think of the more spiritual aspects of life. Sharia Law and the Qom Courts have commerical code and make rulings on commerical transactions.
Does your local church pass juedgement on a bad business deal or personal transaction that you or other member make? Someone cheats you on buying a used car, you go to your local Chruch for restitution? No, I don't think so.
Some how....the aspects of religious spiritualism....all get messed up here with Iran. Maybe you can say it is a religion and not a defacto government. But the woman now facing a stoning death in Iran, likely would call it a inhumane act by a derranged government.
But I know that wih your spiritual enligthenment....as least now in the difference between religion and government and the functions of the two....you can share your wisdom with us to why h the Sumpreme Leader Khatanie Shia sect is a religion and not a government.
If you would like more enlightenment. You might wish to reflect on the Constition's separation of Church and State clause at this point. Because with Iran and Talivan's Afghanistan, they both melted and merged the line of Church and State.
