We can send Iman Rauf to Ireland on a Muslmi outreach program and he can put up a mosque right next to the Irish blarney stone...which is in a Irish Battlement of Blarney Castle.
They should go together well. Very historically accurate and very internationally liberating.

ooby_dooby: Maybe they should build the mosque. This way the new Freedom Tower will be safe from terrorists attack because they surely wouldn't want to risk this new mosque having bodies and pieces of the new building falling on it.
No Ooby....I think that it is because they designed Freedom Tower buildings to better take the impact of a aircraft. Freedom Tower has been designed for such attacks. It is a statement that we will rebuild and we will meet the Islamic threat of terrorism.
President Obama said it the other day.....we can absorb another major attack....and we will be only stronger. We have re-engineered not just the Freedom Towers for such attacks. We placed new building codes on all new sky scrapers to meet such attacks.
What other country in the world did that? If they did, they ain't talking about it.

We have not covered our heads in the sand. We have lead the world in combatting Islamic terrorism for the last decade. The rest of the world just did not like how it was implimented. So stayed home from Iraq. And took two year to send troops to Afghanistan.
Now you play these net games to see how sensitive the American people are over a mosque near Ground Zero. You find out they are. You say we stick our heads in the sand to religious tolerance and our love of freedom.
When Islam gives up Sharia Law....that brutal set of interpretative laws that stones women to death. Islam steps up to the human right standards of America. Till then Islam is in the middle ages.
So save the 'head in the stand remarks' for Muslims that still stone to death on the single fatwa of a Iman or Cleric, that give little or no chance for appeal, that place 1/2 the weight of the woman testimony to a man's testimony, that did not allow any modern foresnic evidence to enter into the court, and who did not publicly file their ruling.
When they decide to come into the 20th century.....we might find religious tolerance again.
