DodgeBabe: I actually didnt have a clue who the '49ers were, just thought it was hilarious to come into the thread with a one-liner diversion like that!
That's me. In some circles I'm called the Great Diverter.

Ambrose2007: That was the question GG was responding to, V. Far from being "holyer" than thou, she was addressing an interesting question and supplying relevant knowledge (especially for those here who seem so fond of claiming other people's works as their own).
Yes I saw that, an interesting post. And very relevant too to the subject matter on this thread.

> Your partner has to get to know the real you -- what you're like when you're tired, angry, frustrated, elated or talking to your Mom on the phone. They have to love you as you are, not as they hope you might be. Anything less won't last. ... > Knowing that you are loved for who you are lets you relax and let your guard down. It lets you be honest without fear of rejection, and frankly, it feels great.
I am sure it feels great when you are loved as-is.
However, doesn't it make you stop trying to become *better*? Can you (or I) honestly say that we can't possibly be better - less selfish? less lazy? can't we become more than we are today?
I am not arrogant enough to say that I am so good my partner must take me as I am today. Please, do not love me as-is. If you don't like something about me, let me fix it.
What is 'True Self'? Erving Goffman in his 'Dramaturgical Model' describes how we interact differently with different people and play differing roles - so the person we are at work, the parent we are, the person who goes to the market, the 'us' at a concert, the person we are in a close relationship are all different facets of the same person. And often, it's only when we really get to know and trust someone that we reveal the 'Inner Child' - so what is 'True Self'?
Well, given that these 'facets' are essentially just a different set of constraints put on the same person, it would be accurate to suggest that the 'True Self' is that which would be present completely lacking constraint. Of course, this isn't to say that your personal presentation at the office versus a concert isn't as much a part of who you are as anything else, simply that it is a provoked response, and not something you would do if those situations weren't imposed.
Veritaas: Discussing this. But one cannot stop people from posting their opinions in open forum, that we all know. As I commented earlier on in this thread, the reasons why I did not post because I thought something was amiss.
I still believe that it was not right to mislead people into believing it was the OP's original work. Which she clearly did.
Maybe some feel a little embarrassed by this, who knows. Some obviously appreciated the posting without a doubt.
I wonder what the original author of the work would think, now that would be an interesting opinion to read.
Well, V, I think the author of that essay would be tickled pink to see someone else claim it as her own. Don't you?
Barrellofart: Ah, crap. When I wrote that it had {sic} in there, except if you use block brackets instead of wavy brackets if thinks that you're trying to use some kind of nonexistent text formatting, and eats it up before it posts.
Ambrose2007: Ah, yes, it was undoubtedly a tragic accident, much like when my classmate in high school trigonometry accidentally copied my answers in a test. If the teacher had simply asked him, he would've pointed out that he did indeed copy my test results, but that he did so accidentally, due to human error. If only my teacher would've given him the chance to confess his honest error before flunking him. True, my teacher did ask him repeatedly about his good score, and my classmate did on each occasion take credit for it, but that was all simply a human error-related accident as well.
Sometimes there just isn't any justice in the world. What a "holyer" than thou person my Trig teacher was!! What was the big deal? Why not just give my classmate an A and a pat on the back and perhaps even some humanitarian award?? I personally think my classmate was a saint...or at least a saint in making.
Dear heavens, if only people would become enlightened and mature enough to understand that it's not only no big deal when you take credit for other people's hard work - why, in fact, it's extraordinarily laudable!! Rather than saying that such actions are dishonest and unfair, we ought to applaud them and even consider worshiping them...if only from afar.
No one condones plaguerism or illectual property theft, Ambrose. No one in this thread has done that.
All some have said is that to hang, draw and quarter a poster - especially one who does not, as she herself said, start threads often - is unnecessary, and yes..downright pompous. You could have emailed her privately, could you not?
You have no idea who is "enlightened" here, or "intellectual" here. Stop judging.
We all have our own "standards" and we dont have to run them past anyone else before we post, thanks!

Oh lighten up Ambrose. This is a SOCIAL website and not a professional venue. The OP is not getting paid for her comments. We all take liberties on these threads that we would never do in a professional setting. I am also a profssional writer and have been for 25 years, yet I often will posts comments with typos. That is the luxury of a social website. It's meant to be fun and enriching, not doggedly proper.
Thanks to you, however, we have lost one very good member today. One how has truly enriched these threads with her humor and positive outlook. I hope you felt it was worth it.

first of sall no one is responsible for anyone leaving but themselves
so please dont make one the victim and one the aggressor
where were you when this 'good member' was ripping and i mean viciously ripping other women to shreds around here?
maybe she hasnt been here much because her 'friends' have all been banned and that type generally doesnt socialize alone
also i did mention way way back that even tho i was a common target for her and them that i was concerned that she must be in pain to have left in a huff
thats more important-being concerned for this 'good member' than blaming someone else isnt it?
why not go approach her on FB instead of standing here screamin at people?
i would but she has never been able to see her way clear of her blind hatred of me- and we never even exchanged 2 words
why are women this way? what a waste
but bottom line the entire thing was well out of character for her and i wish someone would actually check in on her
we are all human and have a breaking point so why not spend effort on action rather than blaming is what im suggesting-pleading!! someone please reach out to her

Wow, what a thread!!!
Firstly I think the op was trying to pass this off as their own work. In fact those were my first thoughts so I did a search, or two, which kept leading me back to cs. I then assumed it was a quote form a book or magazine article. Ambrose, thanks for doing a better job than me. Either way, as I see it, it's a blatant use of someone else's work passed off as their own. But...we got to talk about all sorts of trivia, re-ignited old grievances, even got to discuss the merits of various biscuits. Good job no one took me up on my wager though.
