cristina: When objection is forbidden, you'll have to be ready to die in those countries. Not an easy thought to have. And in those countries, oppression is made in the form of propaganda, meaning that the idea that what is forbidden is the only way possible has been indoctrinated for decades there, substanciated by something so dearly as religion. The fact that the objections/demonstrations there are always aggressive is because it is something which is almost always forbidden. It needs a breaking through and that doesn't happen without blood shed. But, things can only be better with the new technology era, where people can always find out ways to break the windows for a proper glimpse on the world.
If the Egyptians never rebelled, they could still be under the Mubarak. What was the sacrifice? Several died on the way to achieve the freedom.I Understand your thinking but there must be couragious men and women ready to pay the price for religious or political reform. In Africa when christianity was introduced, many convertees had to pay by death.Today is a different story
cristina: Allow it to stop? I guess the practise isn't institutionalized in Kenya apart from in the Masai community. So, I guess it's up to them regarding what to do to that custume, putting aside the human rights discussion.
Yes not only the masai community , other community as well.Needless to say i mention masai because of boldness to seek to continue with the practice. In others , it is done in secrecy because once caught you will face the law
jac379: So, is your recommendation that Muslim men are to be treated with suspicion, but non-Muslim men are safe?
Women need to approach dating with caution, you don't need to target a specific group based on religion to be aware of that.
I find it worrying that you are dismissive about objection to your prejudiced approach in this thread.
If you felt it important that this clip be viewed, then at least balance it information about other domestic violence in other cultures.
agree .... Expalined at my post too so violence can be happen in any level, culture or religion and not base of that but it back to human itself. And I think religion not for debate cos each people have they own choose so why we can leave & respect it.

May be practised by more communities but it is illegal.
----------prejudiced approach--!!??? do yo know what you are talking about ????????????the thread was simply a video shown a T.V. program where someone is taking about an accepted method of beating women..........you have twisted it and turn it in such a way that is totally irrelevant... try to look at things the way the are, don't give them your own interpretation to attack people . I really don't think you know what the heck you are talking about

Guys Guys you are not getting the point, the point is there are some certain countries that abusing women is not frowned upon, it is legal, and the woman can not even complain

Once again:
Violence towards in those regions are accepted, that's all the thread is about, it is accepted to the point that on their official TV the give guidance as to how ? If you want me to explain : I don't like blabbing pointless, just briefly : Violence is a human behavior , regardless of religion or culture, in some religion or culture, violence towards women is an accepted behavior. ... that's it Please understand what the point of the thread is, and stick to the point when you want to debate it. It only make sense
