Crystal29: Time will tell Geonee...sorry for swearing on your thread last night but it just makes me sick that these vulnerable families are not properly protected by the professionals in this country, even when they are known to Social Services/Police etc. This case then reminded me of Baby P (bless him), where the top of the Social Services, was sacked, (and rightly so) then ran bleating to the courts with an appeal over the way she was sacked, and unbelievably walked away with a tidy sum of taxpayers money in her back pocket. How does she sleep at night? Right rant over...promise!

Read your post last night yes makes me angry that the police failed to deal with this situation . Before its tragic events a couple of days ago they are to busy interviewing people over phone taps in Parliament to care about real people.

You are both right and its terrible what happened with that mother and toddler!!
I saw on the news a neighbour shouting at the police that they knew she was in danger, yet nothing happened!!
With this new 'Big Society' some will be wondering if local communities should resort to organising their own security as incidents such as these show that the systems in place do not work!!
Yet, we are all human and we do make mistakes..
I expect there are many officers and social workers who feel the same, but know they cannot be seen to show their organisations in a bad light.. 
As long as they learn from it and it never happens again.. 
Unfortunately, these enquiries seem to take years.. rather than any immediate results provided within a few months and those responsible reprimanded..

Can't you get a repeat prescription request TC? They do them at most surgeries ... just have to pop your written request in (they have forms for this near the surgery's reception area), and allow 48 hours before collecting new prescription.

But, hey... what do I see approaching at speed? A filthy looking white van. It was going so fast it was swaying from side to side. So, thank goodness I was awake and aware enough to guess it wasn't going to stop, and waited. I dread to think what would have happened if a child or pensioner had been there and just stepped out without checking. Which could easily have happened at that time in the morning
