AgentAjax: I really want to make a point. This is only my informed view but not an educated one.

There are many different types of depression and causes. ie. a child who is bullied or abused suffers a different type of depression to a stroke patient. Stroke patient inevitably will suffer one due to the fact his/her right or left side of the body will not react instantly with the brain… which drugs will be need to suppress this type of anxiety. While without drugs, a bullied child can overcome depression by changing their environment and a little bit of guidance. Most times depression is inherited in the same way high blood pressure is… again high blood pressure and depression are unrelated but some are unconvinced.

Sorry for the short reply Im typing with one hand at the moment.

Merriweather: If I could believe that above... then we should never be surprised when things go wrong in life... and we should never get cross either????

Errrm... I dont think that we being such positive, proactive beings, forever challenging ourselves to do better, earn more, and competing constantly, whether we are aware of it or not..are held back by Karma... ???

Hi Rob...

Hi merri

Its from our past experience we generally base our perceptions. I now find an understanding the way we react to all events that turn up in our lives, shapes the nature of the ongoing energy. Nothing just happens without course. Depending how we react shapes what later in-turn appears as an outcome.

Holding the view i am the creator of my sufferings, I am responsible for the negative experiences in my life, helps to take away the development of anger, or worse that otherwise just compounds our problems.

I posted on the first page an explanation about dealing with depression give by Lama, the person i studied under. If we don't comprehend our nature (moving energy) the Tibetan Practice called Thong-Len (spelling??) which translates as "thought transformation" then what Lama is saying (I think) would be rather hard to understand.

I think more so for a mother, its perhaps hard to understand the wee bundle of joy, probably seen as part of her body, comes into being has since conception karmas from past lives. We have no way of knowing even what Karmas ourselves have made in the past never lone little bundle of joy...

Martia: They say that there has never been so many people in Aus suffering from Depression in fact its nearly an epidemic.

WHY....To get started look at the media for instance Newspaper's and TV are the main culprits.
Every where you look is mayhem and misery the more the better.

I do not agree with reporting the continual pain of others ....like going into detail about how they feel all the time especially like the Danial Morcombe murder getting the parents to give press conferences draining every feeling they can out of them, its so cruel.

When those 8 children and relations were burnt to death in that house fire the mourners even stopped the search of the last two bodies so they could appear on TV to talk about their pain and grieving without a thought for those brave men and woman looking for them.....surely they could have done that when the last two bodies were retrieved.

I now feel guilty for even bring that up but why do the public want to see that ?

Remember Lady Di's death and funeral ! day in day out could not believe it.....people sobbing their eyes out ...Why for goodness sake she wasent a close friend or relative (mass hysteria)once again the herd syndrome.

And I have touched on only the tip of the iceburg.

What is it that is in lot of us to prefer bad news to good.????? also seeing people stop to look at an accident hoping to see a dead or maimed body.

Haven't we got enough to contend with without the brainwashing that goes on from the Media 24 hours a day.

Dont get me wrong! I just cannot understand it going on and on until something newer comes up,then the previous story is dropped like a hot potato leaving behind utter confusion sometimes.

The Media stated a long time ago that if it printed or showed much good news it would hardly sell a paper or get an audience.

Depression is a chemical imbalance to the brain .... medications can usually help get the sufferer feeling okies again along with therapy ..

Reading sad stories in the paper or watching it on the tele etc, can maybe cause you to feel depressed, though this is quite different to depression ...

Episodes of depression usually have a trigger, identifying these triggers is alaso another way of dealing with depression ....

I am trying to get over that the world we live in is not a happy place now.

Too Much Information is thrown out there ....it wasent like that didnt have the means of communications they have now.

I believe it contributes to depression especially if one lives on thier own.I know of many older males I got to know that are suffering from it.

Many just sit there on their own drinking and watching the telly,I am sure it would be the same for some of the ladies.

And yes Depression and the media tie in.But sometimes there is a revelation.

I have just watched the first episode of the X Factor and have had a huge laugh! really enjoyed the talent and cried my eyes out in awe of a refugee with no hands or leg who just sang Imagine.

He brought the house down and there wasent a dry eye in the place with just the sheer beauty of his voice and immense courage he has.

I FEEL UPLIFTED AND HAPPY what a wonderful feeling it is.

rose coloured glases are fine, however lets say Daniels killer was still out there and you were not informed by your media, all of a sudden you're now questioned why you did let your kids catch a school bus on their own in his area knowing full well that someone else had been abducted.
A head in the sand approach is for fools.

Laughter really is the antidote to depression. It produces endorphins, the 'feel good; hormones...your very own antidepressants.

The other thing laughter does, or taking in nature up close and personal, is that you get 'out of your head' and focus on what is happening here and now...in the moment. There actually exist 'laughing groups'. People pay to be shown how to laugh!!

Words are extremely powerful. When we 'talk' to ourselves in our head, the brain listens actively, so we need to be vigilant in the words we use. They can really make or break us at crucial times.

Talking about it with someone, professional or otherwise, can help too, as talking does change brain chemistry when it is done constructively. So do certain sound waves, such as using brain wave entrainment, and the sound of birds at particular modulation.

Since Daniels death... the killer has been out there for a few years running free and how would anyone know if that is his area he could come from anywhere.
The last two lines of your post sums you up exactly.doh

As for valium, please go find out what action valium has on the brain.
