Is this related to that thing about a tree falling in the forest when there's no one around uncertain

No its more quantum theory. Is Time a measurable substance or a man made essence.

But it is a debatable issue on whether a tree makes a noise.

Hmmm interesting, I should probably look into that, it appeals to my inner nerd nerd

I'm currently reading a sample of a book which mentions Bayes theorem which is used to work out complex problems involving probability distributions. It's a way of arriving at statistically reliable probabilities based on partial information.

Back in the day, the 1700s, it had no practical use as there were no computers to do the necessary calculations but it is now used in modelling climate change, predicting the behaviour of stock markets and other areas where the interpretation of probabilities is an issue.

The Stock Market is a good example of a practicle use of probability.

But i understand it takes a lot of graphing and following to establish safe probabilities to make semi safe punts.

Hmmm bit of a quantum leap for you Serene grin anyway it seems it still has no practical use... as the so called climate change experts have ended up with egg all over their face...., and as for stock markets at this time you would be better off putting your hard earned cash under the mattress.doh

Not true Martia. The problem is though to know where to invest and how long to invest. Its true that the Market cycles. But only those that work hard and do their jobs in depth and thoroughly, Will know and understand those cycles. Its not government guaranteed. But it probably has a 70% safety probability. Which is good enough for most entrepreneurs.

And nae i'm not an investor. I don't believe I have the time to put in that sort of effort. Nor can i afford to lose.

But remember most of our Super funds are invested in the stock exchange by the holders of these funds to earn income for them and us. But mostly them.

very mad I know this to be true... the year before last I put in an extra $1000 to get the govt equivalent... and because it all went down wonderfully, the only profit that showed up on the statement was the $1000 that I put in...

So I reckon those brokers know not a lot... thumbs down or else, they just play with our super and have lotsa fun...

I dont agree dd' managed funds are not doing well it will take time to even get back to parity again for a lot of of them.

So many investors are now opting for self managed super funds, low interest rates good for home buyers bad for investors,so its damned if I do and damned if I dont.

As it is now the investor would have been better off if they had just put their money in your common a garden savings account.

So Merri ... based on your experience you wouldn't reckon on adding money to your super... only that I was thinking of doing it .. at present I'm jumping up and down, because I lost 270 dollars - how does a superfund justify charging 270 dollars for admin costs - blazes...mumbling mumbling mumbling

My NZ Super b4 i cashed it in to come to OZ. Was earning me 2500 grand a year. It took two years to get going. But on cashing up the interest earnt averaged out to 2500 a year. I thought that was good.

It was being used in the stock markets. I did take the aggresive investment scheme. And NZ were in a slump. With the market crash in NZ I asked for my investments to be reconfigured. I split it between NZ property and Overseas exchange. It worked. I may have just been lucky.

I have to get on top of my super here. And start taking responsibility for it.
