3:08 pm Wind gusts are picking up and rain is light in NJ. Occassionally the power flicks on and off. Streets are flooded in Atlantic City.
A crane fell off the top floor of a high rise building in New York at 57th and 7th Avenue. It didn't hit the ground...it's just hanging up there in the air. It's expected that the wind at the top of that building is 95-100 mph. There's no way for anyone to go up there to secure the crane because it's too unsafe for police and fire dept personnel. When the crane falls it will undoubtedly damage surrounding buildings so they have ordered evacuation of those buildings. Coverage is on NBC.

4:50 PM monday. Lights went off a few seconds a few times winds are about 30 - 35 mph,,, I'm surrounded by forest here. I have not seen or heard any trees come down,,

We also have the news of the crane on our ABC ..
The other thing is : "Hurricane Sandy actually strengthened slightly overnight - it's a stronger category one hurricane now than it was a few hours ago."
Its coming onto 5pm in New York at the moment ( 7.30 am here) so I guess its going to be one long frightening night for many.
Fingers crossed that the damage is minimal...

Listen to this Tom....The Prez has called Governor Christie twice to tell him that he and FEMA are there for whatever NJ needs. He also gave Governor Christie his direct phone number for whatever he wants. Hmmmmmmm.....is this a campaign year?
