This does show commitment but to me, a seperated man is off limits.

If I were seperated from my husband and I didn't want a divorce, I would fight to save my marriage and I wouldn''t want another woman to be another obstacle for me.

rebel2: That is not a nice thing for you to go through,or anyone.
However, the majority of women are not like that.So look on the positive side, that there are women who have been treated in a similiar way,and are looking for a man who understands, and will not treat them the same way.

rolling on the floor laughing Sorry Rebel I've met and dated some rather strange ladies !!

Well even though you are taking a break from dating doesn't mean you need to take a break from CS altogether. You can stay on to participate here in the forums for fun and to occupy some of your spare time.

Hope to see you stay on CS forums.

lalasierra: Would you date someone who is seperated from his wife or her husband?

Some things that are obvious to be considered: Are you willing to invest your time, energy and emotions to someone who MIGHT get back together with their husband or wife? Are you up for the competition? What if you've fallen in love with this person? What if the one you're with isn't the one who wanted the seperation and would jump at the oppportunity to go back if the spouse decided to take them back and try to salvage their marriage. You COULD be dropped like a hot potato!

There are a few scenario's to be up against with someone who is seperated. The word "unstable" comes to mind.

On the other hand, he/she may NOT have any intention's on going back but their spouse wants to buy time, thinking they may change their mind and return to the marriage. So the word "seperated" may be hindering this individual from dating because the word "seperated" is an automatic red flag to people. They may feel that there is too much bagagge/drama and not even give the seperated person a chance?

Hmmm???

For me, if something is over, it's over. But I did see it often enough that people got back with their ex - I don't think this has something to do with being married or not - and the status seperated.

It depends on the country - it's 1 year to get a divorce in Germany, so probably not as 1 year is not a lot of time to get over a long term relationship. dunno It's 5 years in Ireland and that is a long time - enough time to move on and too long to be on your own.

I have dated a seperated guy and if it's over a couple of years and people have moved on, I have no problems with it.

I have had coffee dates with guys who weren't exactly upfront with how long they are seperated - if it's fairly fresh you have a whole lot of baggage to deal with - sorry, but no thanks.

From a certain age on, I actually wouldn't date guys who were never married, I actually met guys who can't hold down a relationship - I wouldn't waste my time with that. wine

Life is full of risk's, an old adage states nothing ventured nothing gained, I might say on the opposing side of this issue, that if the risk is never ventured than one may loose out on a life long opportunity, that in being with that one special person that has always been meant to be the rite risk. But one never knows, "To be or Not to be, That is the question"

To be or not to be with a married person. If you have to ask the question, you know the answer.

I think it is very unfair to pull someone into a separated guy or woman affairs. I mean the one should try to terminate his separated role, and be single.

It is only my idea. I will not rush into separated guy for sure.

I was separated for 10 years, after a marriage of 18 years, I had an opportunity to peruse another relationship with a couple of ladies that wanted to be with me, not at once..lol... but I shut them out, one had been separated at the time and that stood in the way of both of us, we were not ready to move on, the other wanted to move quickly, I wasn't ready.

In hindsight in my circumstances I found it not the way to travel and there was always an insecurity there and it was very hard to commit, knowing that any time during that relationship reconciliation was always a chance, and it did happen with one lady. The ladies would have felt the same feelings as myself.

Circumstances and individual choices, can only be made by the couple. Now, I would not and will not except someone who is separated to peruse a relationship of this kind. As with my experience none of us were ready, we were clutching at straws to find comfort. Divorce is final, the umbilical chord has been cut. hmmm
