misbhavn: Should hunting be banned?

Hunting for sport/fun should be banned but of course, who's going to police it? If hunting is a means of ones survival or for culling of animal overpopulation, then so be it as long as it's done in a humane manner. wine

Yep, I am at times, and it would be no different in person either.

I have very little patience for blatant stupidity stemming from ignorance.

Conrad73: What do you propose to put in place of hunting to control Deer-and other Animals being hunted now, because if you don't,you will end up with an increased starved and sick population of sundry animals!
Hunting,so far has kept that in check!

Evening Conrad.

I don't think that there is an argument with regards keeping a certain animal within acceptable numbers. That's common sense. As is also a person hunting for survival.

What is abhorrent is the wilful destruction of the animal kingdom for just sport or financial gain.

We as humans have a responsibility to protect our wildlife, and many animals are bordering on extinction now.handshake

kidatheart: So basically you're saying your opinion means nothing, because you know nothing about the topic.

Do you have any idea of the cost of living north of the 60th parallel, or the harsh conditions people live in? Do you really believe that the government is going to hand them everything, when they don't even pay for proper schools at this present time? Do you think that would be a good plan for the people themselves, to have to do nothing, other than wait for handouts?

Do a little research, then try again, or just STFU.

My opinion means like anyone else on this forum - and yet a understand a little bit about northern living - I was born and raised in Canada. I have family that are trappers by trade in the Yukon. I heard and read a lot about our Canadian governments disgraceful historical treatment of the native populations from Cree, Blackfoot, Inuit, Metis etc -

No handouts are not the answer - however that is not the current philosophy used by the Canadian government in supporting businesses, or education for the nomadic tribes - but to suggest I do the research and try again... well those words just burn my butt! frustrated

You do your homework or clean out your ears or rub your eyes when you read what I said - that just because it is a way of life, to hunt for survival is more of an excuse now than a justification for a way of life. the artic can support more than just hunting as a way of life for those nomadic tribes - without a government handout.

thumbs up survival gets my vote.
culling - nature has her own way in addressing that, in form of predators; wolves, jackals, coyotes, eagles...etc.

No, not really, some people need to be told they're acting like an idiot in strong terms, otherwise they just never get it.

She has a computer, she could educate herself, yet she chooses not to.

Since when is the government responsible for taking care of people's every need. Do you really think it's a good idea to move the Inuit off their land, after thousands of years?

Yeah, that'll work well. roll eyes

You can make you're point without having to be ugly about it. 'STFU' is just ugly and rude! You have anger issues.

No, I actually don't think I'm always right, but thanks for the vote of confidence.laugh

I have an open mind, more open than most people you'll ever meet. Still doesn't mean I'll accept BS answers from people that really have no clue.

I did not suggest it - that is perhaps what you think is the only solution to move the Inuit's off their land. It was never even on my radar of things the government could do.

there are whole towns and communities in northern Canada that take the tourists out on large siteseeing tours of the polar bears -

the Inuit have many traditions that are rich in art and a way of life -

What I was saying is that there are still cannibals whose way of survival is to hunt and kill and eat humans...... so that should still be acceptable?

Nope, no anger issues either, I just speak my mind, and that seems to offend some people's delicate sensibilities.

Oh well, deal with it.

144 countries voted in favour of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Canada was one of the four countries who voted against it (although Harper did eventually back down and sign on)

- See more at:

Seems even your own country is anti Inuits.

sigh
